Thanks for watching!
I'm in the middle of fitting an arduino based oscilloscope/multimeter into a TOS tricorder casing (I might be a Redshirt, but I'm an ENGINEERING Redshirt!) This is awesome!
What is it Spock? It appears to be a computer that takes its power from a raspberry - fascinating.
Fucking nailed it
that's so ridiculous it could be cannon
*canon
Chaos Omega dick*
ah yes, linux windows...my favorite operating system for my commodore mac
I wonder if he said that reflexively after trying to explain his rPi to peers again and again
That is awesome, it works and plays every OG Star Trek episodes.
This thing is awesome! Very cool and inspiring
GUYS!!! Thank you so much for showing us this.
One problem...
Now I want one.
Ohhhh this guys...loved the Batcomputer
that Alpha base commlock looked soooooo cool, i want one
That's amazing. I love how modern technology can bring to life the devices they only played pretend with in the 60s. Pretend this screen is a video screen and today it really is a video screen. You can watch the original show on it, lol. I love it!
This is the best application of a Raspberry Pi I have seen. Pretty damn cool.
Holy crap, i want that Metroid prime varia suit arm cannon in the background! Staring me in the face the whole time, saw it at the last freaking second. xO
Hot_Drop_O'Clock yeah, I saw that too
That’s mine! I built it.
Was scrolling through to see if anyone else had mentioned it.
Natalie Roman really, do you have the whole suit?
The Narcadian Order It’s a work in progress, but I have the shoulders, helmet, and arm cannon complete and am working on a full resin kit for others in the future.
Very nice. I would sit and watch the episodes on that.
That's really slick. I hope we get to see Brian's 5.5 ft Enterprise build when he finishes it!
Using light as a means of obtaining data, a miniature spectrometer (such as those used to scan elements on extrasolar planets) is designed, added to a scanning laser camera and all-in-one sensors, PLUS add it to a device computational as we say to a smartphone, with its software app and we have an authentic non-invasive tricorder gentlemen. A technology that with just a photo or video we scan for a medical result. Technology is already there but it is separated, it only takes the genius to put them together.
0:07 Space 1999 represent!
What he needs to do is make the tricorder control lights and sounds on the enterprise when he builds that
When companies want £500 for an officially licensed replica prop this is what I want to see it able to do, not a lump of plastic with two LEDs in it and the buttons don’t do anything.
that's one amazing tricorder! 🖖
'linux windows'
James Mattson Seriously. It makes me cringe a little.
"linux, windows*"
I'm thinking he meant a the Linux subsystem for windows? Not sure if that would work tech wise, but it makes sense off the top of my head, lol
Razbari Raspberry can't run Windows at all. So it can't be Linux or Windows. It's Linux or Linux. (what distro is up to you.)
It's useless, but possible lol!
I really don't know why he mentioned windows at all though.
Cool. When he said 'fully functioning' I thought he might be referring to those tiny spectrometers that work with smart phones.
Surely it should be running on a Di-Lithium Polymer cell and not a 9v PP3 😋
"It runs it's own version of Windows... Linux Windows."
It's like a knife in my ears.
I believe he was saying "linux, windows" as in, it can run linux OR windows
Except it can't. The closest you can do on a Pi is Windows IOT Core which this clearly isn't.
That's actually not true, there is an ARM64 version of windows 10 that can run on a Pi. Look it up.
That's probably not what he is doing, but in the context of this brief interview I think he was just saying that you can run windows, linux on this device.
OK, I did. Apparently it only runs single core and has to emulate x86 to run anything that isn't a windows store app specifically compiled for arm. I cannot imagine anything worse.
tinwhiskerSC that assuredly is not what he meant
BRILLIANT
"it runs their version of windows- linux windows" wat
You know, Winux 9, from the people who make Lindows 11

The Joke

Your head
Amazing!
Hi, GREAT stuff!!! Really like the lost in space burrows computer. Where can I get one?? Scared to ask the price.. lol You commented on the 5.5 foot Enterprise. Are you talking about the 1/350 scale? If not, where can I get some info on it?
THANKS!!! Live Long and Prosper!
It might be silly but...
A tiny little part of me is disappointed that this doesn't actually ...tri-cord.
yep, that is silly. THIS IS COOL.
NO !! You are right , make a phase , I want it to be a ( laser ) make a tricorder I want it to sample the environment and record data , NOT a Digital Media Player ...
How much to make my tricocorder do that?
Awesome possum
Do you sell these?
Gordon Tarpley's cameo in the background in at the end of the video.
Damn it norm, stop teasing me I know he's there show us some Frank.
Very cool!! How do I get one??
I hope to see that 5-1/2 foot Enterprise on someone's video. I am working on a 1-350th Reliant and it's about the most nerve wracking wiring job ever. I am using RC navigation system with 3mm leds and It looks like a spaghetti farm.
This might sound inappropriate but I would have a seizure if I had one of those every time I turned it on to watch a rerun totally awesome
Has anyone ever made a xenomorph costume and highlighted it on the show here (like not just seen one, but given an inside look)
The guy in background though😂
Seems lit.
man i need the tutorial for this
Is that a Samus gun arm on the table there? Pretty sure that's a Samus gun arm. I want it.
Great project ! Btw Brian sounds like a younger John Lithgow to me...
Were can I buy one?
Awesome!
Neat, but does it scan for life forms? They should work on that sort of thing next.
5 1/2 foot enterprise kit??? Wow!!!
Very cool
awesome :D
Now he just needs to add a spinning moira display in the circle near the storage discs.
I want one!
Love it...
Linux Windows... really my god what’s next C64-IOS or MSX-WARP
And what is a tricorder for?
Dam ..I thought he filled it full of cool hardware , Doppler radar , thermal FliR ( infrared imager , wide and narrow sweep , radio frequency spectrum analyzer , ( rf sniffer ) along with barometer , and an array of gas detectors .. and maybe a chromatograph .. and a stud finder .
Y'know, a Pi Zero would give you space to cram in a big battery and some sensors... _Plus_ lower power consumption!
Awesome😊
It would be funny if the screen showed an LCARS system display
Esse tricoder é sofisticado gostei. Abraço
They should install a real air quality monitor inside it since they have become cheaper now....also an EMF detector, barometer, inferred scanner to take temp of objects...etc etc..then it would be real...
Turn it into a spirit box and you can speak with many of the passed over cast members.
1:28 They get to the point
I would love to get a tricorder with a working screen who makes these?
Samus armcannon!
What is rpf and where can I find it?!
I want one for the same reason to watch TOS Star trek show
Props from Voyager PLEASE !!!!!!
Very. Cool.
I like the Next Gen one more
Agreed. But first things first.
yaa it was way sleeker looking , agreed , but that old school tricorder is still cool , if he filled it with the RIGHT HARDWARE !!!!
Too bad the screen is flat. The series used vacuformed curved CRT tube-like displays.
So this is what it's like to be the first post, Cool. Good video, by the way.
Why isn't there real world tricorder equivalent that works, like a phone with working gadgets and more sensors.
Ah fuck its Norm.
👍👍👍
I see Apple's new MacPro in the background.
i;ll buy one
Who Knew... Linux is the secret to actual Treknology . :)
They only made like 600 of the models he is talking about and I think they ran about 1000$USD
is he selling it? LOL
Cool
That would probably qualify as panty remover at a Star Trek convention.
real life tricorders would be a great help to emergency services.
Can your tricorder read power surges, read life forms. Do medical exams on people.
i love linux windows
9v why?
a few more gens of smart phone tech some 3d printers who know maybe all the hard work will have returns
The parts kit probably cost $400 or something ridiculous.
Too bad the screen is flat and not curved like the vacuformed originals were :(
I love star wars!
Norm
yes if get a geess a tablet that one like get need glases to do it but be cool to do cel phom=ne crap on that one seeing is balving and new post will be seen
Build me one.... how much $
70 view woohoo
It would be even closer to a working model if he'd installed the air quality monitor into it, temp, humidity, Co2, pollution and dust monitor, etc etc....
Being the geek I am.....it runs their version of Windows, Linux Windows....
*ahem* Excuse me sir, I'm gonna need to revoke your geek credentials...
7th comment hiii
Linux Windows xDDD
Rasp can't run windows...
An American who correctly says Two Thousand *_AND_* One. That's not something you see every day. I though I was the only one.
RMoribayashi Heloo
We are taught in schools that this is incorrect. "And" is for decimal points.
I did?
Twenty Oh One
That was common at the turn of the century. At least you didn't write twenty ought one.
Ugh, why does everyone answer every question with the word "SO"?
