Hi Kevin, There is nothing like cookies from mom. My mother use to add raisins. They are great for breakfast lol. Thank you for sharing another video. Jamie is a definite keeper, that was extremely thoughtful having the truck there for you. You two are a great couple. Take care, Be safe.
We all love Jamie almost as much as you do. Watching you two together fly off and have cool adventures is why we are here. Honestly, as much as I enjoy watching aviation videos, I get great joy and inspiration from watching you and Jamie do life together with your SWEET 310. It's just great. Go DAWGS!
You and your wife are fantastic! God Bless you both. I’m not a pilot but just a total fan of the show. Sometimes you scare me with the take off. Don’t understand the air traffic lingo. Fly safe! Thanks for your service!!
If you hear north after the redwoods tour the Oregon coastal route rocks a few laps around Mt St Helen is something that you'll never forget..to see even now with some regrowth the magnitude of the blast is evident
My mother does not cook a real often anymore, but for Father's Day my dad asked for a home cooked meal and my mom made porcupine meatballs and mashed potatoes, dad's favorite. Was fun to hear about your mom doing the same dish. Nothing beats mom's home cooking! Thanks for taking us along.
Glad 'she' is back home. Plus she got a rinse off also. When I visit Mom in Tullahoma TN. She sends home peanut butter cookies and stuffed cabbage / burger / onion rolls. Brings back childhood memories. Take care and be safe. 'Spin'
The mountainous terrain to the west of Knoxville is the Cumberland Plateau. And the windmills are at Windrock Park, a 72000 acre off road park located just outside Oliver Springs TN
If you are doing a west coast swing. come through Seattle. You can land at Boeing or Payne field. Mount Rainer is an amazing view plus the sound with all the islands that are beautiful and there are great beaches, hiking, sailing, skiing.
It's good to see you again I love your flying also I like the camera on your tail of your aircraft I don't have a good internet service and I haven't watched my UA-cam videos for a long time it's good to see you again
Hello from Scotland, looking forward to seeing the West trip . Have to say, I've always wanted to visit Seattle and Washington, dipping into Canada too. The flight over the Grand Canyon will be epic too.
Fall in Washington State is beautiful. June through late September is the best VFR flying and you can tour all 5 of our volcanoes including the one that popped her top in 1980
Thanks for the ride Kevin. Keepin 1BC clean! She's a purdy one. Great of Jamie to bring your truck. She is a real keeper for sure. Oh yea Jamie is purdier...if that's even a word lol. Maybe it is now.
Like the more informative video's about the Cesna 310. amaizing aricraft!!! I will be starting my flight training soon!! Submitting my Aplication to fly tomorrow. Fit to fly as my Medical examination was more than sucsessful!
Good luck on your western trip. It sounds like work schedules may prevent a true tour of the western USA, therefore I recommend getting the plane out west, and “commuting” on the airlines back to Chicago. I did something similar in Mexico many years ago, back when “FAM trips” were a bit easier. Early September can be very hot in California, so I’d recommend late September or later. There are so many good stops that have already been suggested, but using a southern route westbound to a northern route return: 1) KDRO - Since you likely have zero experience with 14,000 mountains, particularly with heat or wind, I’d recommend some training prior to flying around Colorado mountains, but you sure want to see them. The easiest stop might be Durango and jump on the narrow gauge train up into the mountains. 2) KSEZ - Sedona is a must see for pilots. Good restaurant on the field 3) KGCN - Grand Canyon is legendary. This airport is a short distance from the south rim of the canyon. 4) KLAS - skip this… take an airliner there… or, it might be a good commuting location. Just leave your plane at Henderson (KHMD) or North Las Vegas (KVGT) and Uber over to the main airport. 5) KAVX - Santa Catalina Island is a must see for pilots in Southern California 6) KCMA - Camarillo has one of the best on-airport cafes, and has good aviation museums. The Ronald Reagan Presidential library is nearby. 7) KSZP - Santa Paula is just a few miles northwest of KCMA, but is a step back in time. You can just wander around and check out the 1930s hangars and interesting stuff therein. I’d recommend a Saturday or Sunday visit here. 8) L05 - Kern Valley, near Bakersfield, is great for a soft introduction to the Sierra Nevada mountains. 9) L52 - Oceano is a short, paved strip right next to the ocean, with large sand dunes. You can rent quads and explore. 10) KTVL - South Lake Tahoe is absolutely stunning and iconic. 11) KAPA - If you like the wine country, Napa airport is where you start 12) O86 - Trinity Center is another iconic “on the lake” flying experience with the Trinity Alps mountains in the background 13) S21 - Sun River is another iconic airport with the Three Sisters mountains in the background 14) KJAC or KWYS - either Jackson Hole or West Yellowstone airports are great gateways to this very special part of North America. 15) KRAP - Rapid City is the gateway to Mount Rushmore Tony Williams Former FAA-ATC ZOA ARTCC, SCT TRACON, CMA-ATCT ATP pilot certificate San Diego, California USA
Aww. :-) My ex-Mother-in-Law made porcupine meatballs. They were awesome. I forgot all about them. I sure would like to have some of those again. Thanks for sharing your flight. Always a pleasure to watch your content. :-)
On your flight west, you should check out Colorado Springs if you have the time! Lots to see and do there, I recommend the Olympic Training center and Olympic and Paraolympic museum along with the USAFA visitor center!
Great video. Love the GA Dogs reference. I’ve always been a Gators fan as living in Illinois there is not much in the Illini lately. I hope to start taking PPL lessons in Central Illinois so these are great videos to learn about long distance flying.
KMMH - Mammoth CA KTVL - South Lake Tahoe CA KSTS - Sonoma County/ Santa Rosa CA KMRY - Monterey CA Great airports and towns in CA. You can’t go wrong with any of them.
If and when you make your west coast swing and you hit Arizona you need to fly into Prescott. Its about small little town you both with love to see. Amazing night life down on whiskey row.
Another great video. Yeaaa trip to the West. Can't wait to hear how she (if your 310 is a "she") will do with density altitudes. I did a lot of flying California, Nevada etc in a Rockwell Commander, I learned quickly on density altitudes. Just to mention, one of the reasons why your so popular is your explanations of detail ie like today explaining your fuel flows, why tip tanks are used first etc etc, just fantastic. Love your videos, keep em rolling.
If you go to grand canyon you will be able to fly over Lake Powell which has 2200 miles of shore line. You'll also see how bad our drought is out here. Thank you for your awesome sceneries. Be safe always. Dan
Just moved out to Kentucky from SoCal and my home airport KCRQ is a great stop for good beaches that aren’t too crowded. If you haven’t been to California I’d also recommend hitting the Big Sur area (most beautiful part of Cali in my opinion) and if you plan it right you can get a good flyby of the Golden Gate in San Fran too on your way to wine country.
If you do California..yes go to wine country...and red woods are way cool...forget so calif. It sucks... vegas sucks to.lived in both places...now in tn on norris lake...will never leave here...love it...
Sorry you had to leave BC in Fl for awhile , but we can’t control the weather and we we got a hurricane heading to us now,so good timing on your part. Look forward to your west coast swing. My grand son is in school at the Ait Force base in Pensacola
Grand Canyon is a MUST. Vegas is okay once in your life - but it’s so tawdry. You should go to Jackson Hole. Awesome place. Seattle is fun, LA - meh. San Francisco/Napa Valley is always great. Lake Tahoe is beautiful.
Thank you for the video! The fact that Jamie and your son brought the truck to the airport was just amazing. Nothing better than a loving wife and homemade cookies from Mom! Appreciate the content and the chance to win a headset! :) Almost 30 hrs into my PPC and really need a headset.
I'd start in the north as the weather and temps will be better earlier. The temps/weather in the south is better the closer you get to September/October.
When you do go west and take the northern route back fly up to Washington and the San Juan Islands. Fidalgo Resort or Rosario Resort then fly east to Yellowstone.
Okay, Western trip. southern route thru Grand Canyon, a quick stop in Vegas. Then to San Diego for a day or 2. Then fly to Catalina Island. Then head up the coast to Santa Barbara (Skip LA). Then to either San Jose or San Francisco, Napa is just north of the Bay. Can't wait for the videos :)
I'm a few weeks behind on your videos! Oatmeal Raisin my favorite cookie 😉 I bet those were good. Though I'm not a pilot, I love your videos and look forward to them each week.
Looking for a CA stop, Monterey is the perfect tourist destination and has a Class Charlie airport KMRY. There's the warf, famous John Steinbeck cannery row, aquarium, pebble beach for golf, carmel valley wineries and also an amazing/ famous drive along hwy 1 through Big Sur. Highly recommend 👍🏻 (bias since I grew up there, miss that place).
Not sure the exact time of year your fall trip will be, but consider the international ballon fiesta in Albuquerque. It’s usually around the first part of October. A full weeks worth and hundreds of balloons. Cannot beat the Mexican cuisine in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. After a day or two there, Western Colorado is simply magical with Color changes. Black canyon near Montrose is well worth seeing from rim or riverside. Ouray is fantastic and beautiful and about a 40 minute drive from montrose. From there, could hit Moab Utah as well as arches. I’m sure the Grand Canyon is on the agenda as well. Just giving some ideas of that part of the world. Enjoy every one of your videos!
Kevin, you defiantly need to fly over OR. Creator Lake is a must see from the air. Then on over the Cascades. Bend Airport is a very nice stop over. From there you can fly over Mount Rushmore and the Rocky Mountains.
Great flight and one of the smoothest greasers since the rigging sped up 1BCs performance. Nice job!. Hey, I lived in SoCal 10 years near Zamperini at Torrance. Def check out Yosemite along with wine country and redwoods. Big Sur, Monterrey, beautiful from the air up the coast. Wine country, check out some smaller vineyards along with the big names. You'll love it out there. Jog out to Catalina if you do any sightseeing in Socal. Tiny but decent hilltop strip. Playground of the stars... like you guys!
Hello Kevin!! Glad you had a safe trip home. Just a suggestion... on your western trip this year, you need to add in a stop at Sedona, Arizona (KSEZ) just so you can say you landed on the great stone aircraft carrier. Some great food a short ride down the mountain, into the town of Sedona. Josh Flowers has videos of his trips into there. Just watch out for the wind rollers at the runway thresholds.
Cant get enough of you guys, on that west coast swing check out Walla Walla Wa, awesome wine country, also beware of wildfire smoke around Northern California and Oregon, its a hot mess out here this summer
KLMT is about as close as you can fly in. A very nice airport... I think it's 50 or so miles south of crater lake. It's at about 4100 feet if I remember right.. it isn't too bad for us central Illinois flatlanders
