    A mum is a mum regardless where she is from she was deeply worried about her son while the father was there to reassure her. The father is the one to help his son to become a man, he was confident so was his son. Nowdays and specially in western culture there is no such thing as this, teaching a teenager to take responsibility of his actions.
    In western society, a teenager cannot even cook for himself, he spend his time playing and disrespecting his elders.
    Another thing I noticed in this documentary is the family unit, the clan, there is no such thing as individuality, they all work together and support each over, thats help a lot in raising children because they learn by example.

    • @aidengriffith8208
      @aidengriffith8208 3 роки тому +18

      That’s why I’m not a fan of most western society. And when I say that I mean most of America. I live in the hard working at a young and poor south Alabama. Not as humble as they are but still Humble non the less

    • @devinbartley5768
      @devinbartley5768 2 роки тому +6

      You have a limited view of western society. Growing up in America in the 1990s and 2000s I had to cook for my family frequently and most of my friends did as well (yes even the boys). I also had weekly and daily chores (cleaning, dishes, mowing lawns, pet care) to complete on top of my requirement to do good in school. In the summers when I was not in school I had to get a job to gain skills. If I got in trouble I had to take responsibility for my actions. Most children in any place in America have that level of responsibility, and those who didn't had "bad parents" and were not within societal norms.

    • @authentic.message
      @authentic.message 2 роки тому +13

      Agree 100% with you!! People in authority and celebrities in the west are trying their best to destroy family unit by brainwashing the masses and young ones with lgbt, feminism( where young girls want to be alone and live the life independently without taking the responsibility of anyone) and other horrible stuff. 🙄🙄
      THEY KNOW SOCIETY OF STRONG MEN WOULD NEVER ALLOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.THAT IS WHY MASCULINITY WAS ATTACKED FIRST.

    i am half hearted with this. I give so much respect to Edik and to his father who has so much trust(with worry) on his son to carry on the mission successfully. That, he has to be responsible and accountable of any duty given. And when he came back with the lost herd herd, he was deeply appreciated by dad and mom. Now that is parenting.
    As much as i want to preserve traditions, education should not be ignored too. There will be different kinds of wolves to battle, herds to guide in finding another way of life. The world outside Nenetses is big to adventure.

    There comes the reality that after your elders and parents are gone, one can only rely on oneself for survival of your family.

    The camera man is keeping his eye on Edik but it was Edik who found and recognised his family's reindeers and incredibly, found his family's new camp. I completely admire this seemingly impossible feat, undertaken at such a young age.
    I watch these documentaries, where boys become young men and, as part of the process they understand about their culture and who in their tribe is worth listening to, and why their knowledge is so valuable.
    No such thing exists in England any more, as far as I can see.
    Many boys and men, don't appear to know what their role is any more 😢

      Thanks feminism for this, there's no gender roles anymore since most people believe they're "harmful", most educated people have fought hard in the last 50 years to erase any clear gender distinction in western societies, so today any father that wants to inculcate in their son a specific set of "masculine" behaviors will be shamed in their social circle and deemed a chauvinistic man that is teaching harmful stereotypes to their son. There is literally no standard of masculinity anymore in western societies.

    Why do they all look the same? Golden brownish eyes. Their settlements look straight out of a movie. Amazing. Also, the kid tasted an easy life in school so his dedication towards their traditional life seems dwindling. Any kid is like that. I hope he chooses his family as education will only give u an option of looking for a job to earn money and pay more bills. Their life is difficult but independent from needing so much money to survive. It takes great skill to heard that many animals. Generation of knowledge passed down

    Is like to know how much of this is factual and how much is added for suspense., the camera folks are w/ the boy, and I seriously doubt that even a very stubborn father would place his child in intentional danger. Other nomadic documentaries I’ve seen show great love of father for his children. Yes, not as much over coddling we see in America these days, definitely much more responsibility, but responsibility the father knows their child can handle.

    Man, that kid is under a lot of pressure.
    choice between school or family life at such a young age,
    parents always emotional to see him they miss him, he falls behind on knowing the ways to work and catch deer in the family that makes him feel clumsy.
    and a stubborn old dad pressures him to become a man in the family (while bringing him in danger and make him stay) while he feels more fit to keep going to school.
    not a very stable way of growing up for him, i hope he keeps his confidence high and make the right choices he knows is good for himself and others.
    I bet they are tough minded and can take the hardships but it makes me want to go there myself and help
