Living in shame can manifest in self loathing, poor self esteem , more addictions or worsening of, depression & anxiety, imposter syndrome, social isolation, suicidal thoughts ,missed opportunities.
Note to P addicts, loners, bachelors and bums. Be social in person. First you meet people then by experience and introductions you can meet a special person. If you were any good at these things you wouldn't be in this situation. You need human contact and connections, but more than that you need to get more out of life. Make friends. Go to parties. Meet freinds to do positive things. Try seeing a play or hearing live music. If there aren't any parties or get togethers to go to, then you can organize one. All these things are fine by themselves, but more importantly move you towards getting a relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Don't be a Simp, a whimp , a chimp or a chump.

Lately, when I feel tempted, I remember the damage done to me by another and the temptations go away. Something I discovered, and later found St Don Bosco confirmed, is it's not enough to stop indulging in bad pleasures, one must seek to do moral fun to help avoid pleasures of sin, replace the bad habits with good habits.
Just healing wounds isn't something that you can just do. I've been battling not being able to make friends since i was a kid. It's just very very very hard to make friends. It's not a natural thing for people to do. No one else wants love either so you can't just automatically find that. I've never found it.
