At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

More than any Hollywood epic ever produced, Magnificent Century made one *feel* realism, *see* history and *hear* the words of leaders of centuries past. Accuracy notwithstanding, an old world order brought to light and examined.
Honestly the writing got super lazy near the end.
@@princess7jasmine what do u mean lazy they litterally ended the series 10 episodes after mustafa death
And for those Who Really know the cienma and have some sense watching movies,
Last 10 episodes were just aamazing the acting, everything
You should watch more Hollywood epics then...
I am one of those who believe that Ibrahim really did love Nigar. He considered Nigar as his other home. He had two lives, the ordinary life with Nigar and the other with Hatice. He cannot fully decide which one he should go. He became too greedy for wanting to live both lives which made him completely lost. But in his last scene with Nigar, she reminded him of her love and that he had a home in her. And his last scene with Esmanur before he was executed, he said to her that they would sail on the boat to her mom. I think he already decided which home to go but It was too late for him. He was executed. But the fact that Nigar was the first one to know his grave, other than Matrakci, i realized that he had returned home. Some lives have been taken or sacrificed because of their love which made it tragic, yet beautiful. ☺️
This is just my realization y'all! I'm such a fan of their love story (except the fact that it's sin). And their chemistry was undeniably overflowing! I so love Filiz Ahmet 🥰. Kudos to everyone!
This whole story is fictional if you are talking about real Ibrahim ,but for the series , I guess maybe you are right but Ibrahim was obsessed with wealth so I don’t think he can just give up on all these things
@@VIBE_OF_EMhe was willing to before. I guess he could have done it. As she said he was between two lives
Truly Magnificent! I saved my favorites scenes, background music and beautiful lines of all the characters. That's how I love this series. Nothing comes close.
Absolutely made me fan of cast specially helit ergec
@@Alihussain_640 Agree ☺
"And a very ugly man....Im a wrong actor for that though"
Lol 😂😂 such different personality with Rustem
Yes but I loved them both
Yes, he fails to look uglier 🤣
But Rustem, together with Pargali Ibrahim and Mehmed Sokollu were three of the best Grand Vizier of Ottoman Empire. Suleyman was great, because he has so many perfect officers..
Rustem was not ugly and the actor was handsome
@@katarinasvensson9801real Rustem was kinda ugly
Everyone is amazing! Nigar Kalfa is the one you can hate and love at the same time. Filiz Ahmet is truly remarkable!
This makes me happy. I've wanted these for a long time. Thank you for posting them 😍
We need another series on Sultan Selim, Nurbanu, Sultan Murad and Safiye
16:55 ozan describing his own character as an ugly man is just🤣🤣
He is so goofy in real life tho.😂😂😂
Wow if The actress who played Valide sultan was Miss Turkey 1960 she must be almost in her 80s now minus the time this was filmed 13 yrs ago in her mid 60s this woman hasnt aged a bit.

Don't know but the actress that represents the Valide Sultan has a different voice. If someone noticed it
She probably puts on a specific tone of voice during her scenes.
I like how they emphasize that this isn't just a harem show. It was the sultanate of women, much bigger than just a harem. They're right. These women were in the harem, but they became much more than slaves. They managed to change history and a powerful empire in a way never seen before or since.
My thing is, why did they cut him out when on here Hatice has twins...what happened to Osman?
Helit ergec u beauty,
How is it even possible after playing this role so realistically and beyond imagination which produce applause
You walked home as helit ergec simply amazing sir; my all time best actors u and nasseruddin Shah, He played something same in serial Ghalib
Brilliant!!!
She said it mahideevran albanian beauty
If u see original photos of mahideevran she looks pure albanian shqiptare
Amazing
Where's the set now in istanbul ?
There's a 'behind the scenes'?? 👏👏👏
26:05 What's Sumbul doing here? 😂
31:01 can someone tell me the name of this heart touching flute, plz
Anyone come to here for reading comments please like my comment
Bali beg 👌❤️
Deveria passar também em português!
The actress that plays Nurbanu, her lipstick is the wrong color for her. She really needs to go with a more natural shade. The one she's wearing looks ridiculous. Go with natural shades that look good on you!
The only thing I dident like was that Fatma and the other women in the harem who rebelled dident get exceuted in real life no way they would have been keept alive
😿😭•• Tear, Tear, •• 😿😭I need to recharge all of my 🔋🔌devices but L💖💖K forward to watching/commenting later, 🤗🥳🤩😍🥰😘Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ❗❕❗❕
WAIT WAIT WHAT EPISODE DID MAHIDEVRAN CHOKE HURREM?!
Love u all guys
I think engin (prince selim) don't love merve(nurbanu) he is never see merve as a freind 🙂
Is the translation correct? Why did they say hafsa is the wife of sultan selim? But hafsa herself stated that marriage is against the tradition? This series messed up your history so bad 🙄
They litteraly changed the history for drama purpose.
Hafsa was not Crimean princess, she was from slave origin, probably from Ukraine.
That she was from slave origin is confirmed by historians.
Also Mahidevran was probably from Montenegro, so she was Montenegrin.
She wasn't his wife but a favorite concubine. She gave birth to at least 3 daughters before giving birth to a son-Süleyman. This indicates that Selim liked her as he kept calling her back. After the birth of Süleyman her sexual relationship with Selim ended as per the rule one concubine-one son.
If she were a Crimean princess and the marriage was political it wouldn't be consumated. Sultan Bayezid never saw Selim as his heir so highly unlikely that he would marry Selim, still a Sehzade then, to a Crimean princess, which would only strengthen his position in the fight for the throne.
Ayse Hafsa might have came to the Harem from Crimea but as a slave, not as a princess. Her character was sadly butchered in the series. She had a kind and loving personality, was devoted to charity, she cared for nothing more than her son's happiness, always having his interests in mind and kept a balance between the women of the Harem. She never ever tried to kill or hurt Hurrem.
❤
A historically inaccurate show

Fantastic and amazing and astounding also! But don't care for all the leg crossing of all those males stars! Also Absolutely hate Selim and Nurbanu, both the actors and characters! Yeah! Insane, I know!! 😰😨
