- Kite Foiling 60+ Kilometres around the Isle Of Tiree, the most western Island in the Scottish inner Hebrides. This was my scariest circumnavigation to date as I had never been to Tiree before and I went for it within hours of arriving at conditions were perfect the day I arrived. I felt very exposed but I love the feeling of conquering those fears and completing another island!

Best Kite content ever! No fancy cars bullshit, just adventure. Looking forward to part 2!
Well done Sam - saw you passing out to sea when we were at Salum. Couldn't believe someone was heading in that direction as you have to go a long way for any safe landing spot! Don't think anyone has foiled it before but it has been done on a windsurfer some years back. Great footage!
Great video, beautifully shot and edited. Shame about the £10 a night rip-off to camp in a field with no facilities. Before the Ranger got involved, you could camp wild and for free pretty much on all of the machair there. Last campsite in France couple of weeks ago, cost us €6.50 and that was with full showers, toilets, hot water, water refills, heated outdoor pool, games room, laundrette etc.
Yea man, what a mission!!!
That explains why they always have the flags and tent at the demo day sessions. Makes it easier to work out which part of the beach to come back into
Well done
Epic session
I think my brother and I are going to grab a windy week kitting this year on the island
Very nice video! Thanks for the inspiration, you and Tom Court with your videos of kite foiling around the Isle of Wight and now this. I made my first kitefoil around a very small island in the netherlands last week :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. You did well holding down a 9m UFO. My ‘go to’ is the 5m. Perfect in 15 knots with the PFI633 🤙🏽
Wow Sam fantastic well done 😎
we go to Tiree every year and love it there .
Nice one mate. Giving me more ideas for a camper holiday with the wing. Bit more local for me though. 😆
One day I hope to be this level of kite foiler. Currently only have one lesson on a twin tip 😂
Awesome! I could almost feel the leg burn and exposure! I would never have found that starting point again!
Haha the leg burn was real! Luckily Tiree is flat so fairly easy to spot a big motorhome 😂
excellent mission!
Love it!
Mate I am looking so forward to the next episodes! Hurry up with editing ;)
Scotland is amazing for kitesurfing. damn I have to get back there😵
Awesome!!!
Nicely done on stitching content together loved the footage. Epic trip added to my list from somebody who rides gusty inland lake conditions in Texas.
fantastic scenery! Looked like an epic place for kiting for sure!
Terrific trip, looking forward to another instalment in the waves which I associate with Tiree!! Good safety tips too for a solo trip!! 😇
Wow!
That was sic, love your kite foil missions
Respect🤜Bet you were so glad to be back safe without incident
Awesome circumnavigation. Living the dream!
Great adventure! Thanks for sharing.
Top !
Epic mate! Really well done! 🔥🔥
Cheers mate!
Brilliant video
Congrats! This is epic !
Nice adventure! I just finished kiting 160km or 88nm on a twin tip over three days at my home spot. Marathon sessions can be a lot of fun.
Epic epic epic!!!! Love these types of missions!! Definitely my favorite part of foiling!
Great video mate!
cheers mate
That was so cool round the Island 🏝️ Sam must have felt Amazing
epic video
Great job 🤙
Well done Sam. Inspiring stuff. Great vid. 👊🏻
Good job bro
Amazing content Sam, loving these videos! I learned to kite on Tiree so this video was a real treat. 👍
Awesome video. Really wanna go to Tiree
Congrats!
I love these mission videos!!
Epic accomplishment, love how you filmed it, stitching in drone shots too.
Also how you mention your safety gear, talk about the nervousness kiting the unknown terrain and the reminder that constant concentration is key. Very relatable hearing that from someone with your experience.
Thanks!
Just awesome!! Great achievement and a nice video to share with us all…thanks 😀
Just EPIC.🔥🔥🔥
What an adventure Sam!! Incredible accomplishment and unreal footage, CONGRATS!! 🎉
Thanks so much!!
Cool 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾😎
This guy's rolling
Superb 👌
Awesome content and nice pictures!
When are we seeing you riding around Jersey or Guernsey?
They are on the list!
Great video. I would have worn boots in case you had a bit of a swim - I imagine the water up there is a bit cold at this time of year.
This was from October, it was 16C so pretty mild. I can balance/feel the board much better without boots, also reduces the foot cramp too for long distance
👍👍👍
Well done Sam. I completely understand no helmet, but please tell me you have some sort of flotation on your body? I didn't catch that part if you do or not.
epic!
A Big thank's for the work you put into these post's Sam.. Can't help thinking the Ghost would have been a safer bet to relaunch if the Kite was to drop on the water..
No worries, thanks. Yes the ghost would have been a bit safer but the UFO is really good at relaunching
Damn 🤙🏻
I spent a week kiting in Tiree once. It was too cold.
Do you avoid using a gopro in a line mount because of the increased risk of the kite falling out of the sky or tangles?
Yea it’s not worth the risk and can’t really leave the GoPro filming for hours on end. It also really affects how the kite flies, especially in light winds foiling
@@SamLight yeah, i've been pretty conservative about using line mounts in light wind (or super strong wind) for that reason. i think a gopro 11 mini or a dji action 2 are much lighter, and with a ligher line mount i'd be a bit more comfortable using it in more situations. the gopro remote makes it really easy to power on / power off and film the bits you want while you're riding. could be a great addition for these longer missions when the winds a bit stronger. the enduro battery is also a LOT better for colder weather missions. thanks for consistently turning out so much fun content!
How come the Yellow Brick Tracker isn't in your list of gear? That's arguably the most important piece of gear because that changes the ride from reckless to adventurous
Well done Sam... quick one though, been demoing the 657 with PS 400 stabilizer and it felt utterly out of balance... does the small 325 stab really make a difference? Cheers Jens
Hey Jen's, thats strange the 657 felt unstable, I find it stable with both stabilisers, its actually less stable with the 325 but a lot faster. it will feel less stable than the 633 or 684. faster foils do feel less stable, what foil do you normally use?
@@SamLight Hi Sam, thanks for getting back. Am riding Sabfoil similar wing size or even smaller. Point being, 657/400 spec when accelerating focal point (bord balance) shifts forward and backward depending on how fast you go... perhaps not a real issue when riding strapless, dunno. Either way, like the Phantasm series... proper build and 657 gives it a nice carvy feel... will give it another try with the smaller 325... keep it up, like your Vlogs :-) best wishes, Jens
intense! What time of year was this Sam?
Beginning of October
Wish i knew what he does for a living to just cruise around living life like this 🤔
@sam are you open to being contacted directly for a consult?
Drop me an email
@@SamLight Ah found it through the UA-cam "Are you a robot" thingy. Will do thanks!
Speed of wind please
Only 100,000 biscuits? Pfff amateur 😂
Foiling looks so boring
