Bro I cannot believe they had those girls rank their own attractiveness. The way they all went backwards in the line but ALWAYS cut in front of Jennifer with no conversation, just like “obviously you’re still at the bottom.” What if this ruins Jennifer’s self confidence it’s so fucked😭
That was truly sad. They acted as though Jennifer wasn't even there.

1000% this! We see this in how features that show up predominantly on BW getting very popular; yet, BW are still at the bottom of the “beauty standard”.
They want everything we have but don’t want our skin. Let’s be real.

"love the hair though" whenever someone says this, and as a black woman I hear it often, it gives "other" vibes and I'm just now realizing
Yes and from my experience, it usually is a form of exoticism to try to make us feel special while also giving us a backhanded comment. Saying things like, "You're not your type, but I love your hair." Just makes me feel like you like my features, but not on me. At least I feel this way personally.

Sophia and the girl who was a dressed down version of her were miles ahead stunning of any of the other 3 & Jennifer in particular dressed so muted for this shoot. LITERALLY I’m 5”9 and most of the misogyny I’ve faced has been rooted in me being tall. some men take it as a personal attack on them just because I’m taller than them, especially shorter than average men. I feel for Jennifer and I identify with her personality a lot, in that situation I’m sure I would definitely be her. But Ajana hits on a whole different level as a black girl. It’s heart breaking because when shows like this happen you know she’s gonna be last. You expect it at this point. It’s so disheartening to see women who look like me get rejected again and again because we aren’t “someone’s type” when we know it almost always has to do with skin color. At this point I don’t even want representation. How are young black girls supposed to watch things like this and walk away feeling pretty?

Exactly. I wish black people stop participating in things like this and love island etc.
I’m internally crying for Jennifer I feel her awkward anxious energy so much, I can feel that she wanted to speak up but couldn’t 😭
I am Jennifer on the inside and Ajanea on the outside. I have a similar look to Ajanea and a nice personality, but I'm also painfully aware of racial biases when it comes to conventional beauty, so I would automatically rank myself last. I personally think I'm very pretty and witty, but I know based on looks alone I wouldn't be ranked anywhere near first in this situation with this group of girls.
I definitely agree with a lot of this. Although my personality is more bubbly and outgoing and aligns more with Ajanea, I definitely see myself ranking myself last due to cripplingly low self-esteem and being a bigger, dark-skinned, black woman. I just know that I don't fit the conventional beauty standards in most of the US, so I would just stay where I know I would be placed based on what I know about the beauty standards in the area. I definitely don't think I'm turning heads in LA, so I would rank myself last with those things in mind.
“Conventional beauty standards” suck ass. I will always find someone who is confident enough to express themselves outside of the norm more attractive than someone who naturally falls into it. I’m sure you’re absolutely gorgeous 💜
It depends on the guys. If they got men who weren’t racially biased against black women, she wouldve been ranked much higher. Those of us with real vision see the girl is gorgeous and so are you
@@TheSuperNats the difficulty is finding people that are not racially biased. Even most black men are racially biased and have internalized racism. It's really sad out here for black women regardless of their "level of attractiveness."

when the guy said jennifer “knows her place” i deadass gasped oh my god
as soon as i saw that there was only one black girl i could feel it in my bones that things were gonna get bad
The girls did reverse racism tho putting her first when clearly two girls are way more beautiful regardless of taste. Personally I would put her somewhere in the middle neither beautiful nor ugly
This video perfectly demonstrates misogynoir in beauty: I can almost bet that if you repeated this with any number of guys (non-black or black even) and one Black girl, they’d always rank the Black girl last, no matter how gorgeous she is. Men really really REALLY think that Black girls are just unattractive, the implicit bias is SO strong, it is disgusting to see it play out like this
Like, she gets ranked even lower than the person you were expecting to get the worst ranking based off how everyone was acting. The whole time we were sure they were gonna dunk on Jennifer, and then bam just kidding! The implicit bias weighed that average way down.
What is it that Black girls always say? Have to work twice as hard for half the recognition? You can be 100x more conventionally attractive but they’d still vote for the mediocre white girl
Totally. My jaw dropped open a little more with every “just not my type”.. I’m pretty sure EVERY dude said it except for her bf.
Honestly this comment should be pinned for everyone to read.
Yes, you nailed it.
Edit: Just adding a little more to this - It's so frustrating explaining this to people, typically non-black women, who genuinely don't understand because they don't realize how subconscious a lot of these biases are. Just the association with traditionally black hair styles or having a more outgoing personality as a black woman leads to a lot of negative stereotypes about our personalities and upbringing that most people don't realize they're projecting onto us. It's exhausting to have to navigate that on top of the already terrible stuff that comes with dating or general social interactions.
Least clinically insane misandrist
@@DKF_oli 3 out of five. Last 3 dudes to "judge" or whatever, the dude dating Sky put Ajanea near the top, I think, or at least 3+, but I don't remember perfectly. Might be wrong. I know he didn't say "not my type" though, cause Jake and Gabi both paused and tensed up when the first guy to say it, did. Which was the guy straight in the middle, 3rd to speak.
it’s sad as a black girl watching this cause as soon as i saw her in the lineup with other white girls, i knew how the video was gonna go. it’s a real daily life thing and the answers those boys gave are the type of excuses you’ll get irl. Lowkey wish she would’ve saved herself the confidence lashings
Yes, I felt exactly the same way. I knew how this was going to go, especially because black features seem to be uplifted by a lot of non-black women (at least within the last 15 years) and the women seen to love her style. She also had a wonderful personality and exuded confidence. But, black women aren't seen the same way by a lot of straight men, unless we're being sexualized, so I knew their ranking would shift the way it did.
I also saw the lineup and immediately saw the dismissal of the only black girl coming, although I was hoping they wouldn't do that. Jubilee has kinda done that shit in the past though, so, wasn't surprised, but still disappointed. (white dude, to clarify lack of experience/knowledge/expectation on that subject) As soon as the first vague ass excuse can though, I saw the others coming a mile away, just barely repackaging the same excuse that implies why without them being viable for criticism or blame if it's pointed out, because it's JUST vague enough. Gross.
@@Arri7979 I disagree that she had a wonderful personality

being an ugly woman honestly sucks. its why i never watch content like this, it makes me feel sick and it just reinforces the idea that men won’t ever want me and i’ll always be the least attractive.
Never think like that. There's someone out there for all of us. Work on your soul and your soul mate will find you.
The people that reinforce those feelings about yourself aren’t your type of people. No one is ugly. And whether a man finds you attractive or not is irrelevant. @@Emily-pn1rg Whats wrong if he doesn't like tall girls? You're saying it like it's a bad thing. Is it bad if girls don't like short guys what's your problem?
@@hinamatsuro1908 I am saying that the fact that a lot of these guys automatically put her down because they, "don't like tall girls," shows that they are not secure in their masculinity. There is way more to it sociologically, but that's the gist of it. So yes, it is a bad thing if all these guys are so insecure in their masculinity that they can't handle the idea of being with a woman that is taller than them.
@@Emily-pn1rg I think it's a little bit more complicated than that. I think I'm general men like to protect and care for and a smaller woman is considered more attractive, and innocent so they are attracted to them.
brutal.... as a girl, the rankings by the girls in my opinion were worse to watch, they just completely boxed Jennifer out and while it could be seen as "nice" all the compliments they were giving each other- not a single one for her. That hurt viewing, even in the end that girl wanted to pull Ajanea up (which makes sense, she is very pretty) but didn't gesture to Jennifer at all. the guys rated based on looks in a weird, kinda sketchy way, but I want to give the benefit of the doubt that they didn't like the outfits (I hope at least). The girls tried to pretend it wasn't on looks, but they just automatically decided who was last. Really rough vid but the commentary helped, I never watch jubilee or cut without commentary bc the videos by themselves are too weird without comedy. Would love to see a part two bc those guys need to be humbled omg. That simple comment was horrific.
The immediate exclusion gave me flashbacks lmao
Yess honestly it felt much more insidious, like it feels like such a slap in the face to be overly praising each other and then just ignoring one person. They didn't seem to include her at all or even attempt to move her up even ONE space in ANY category. It felt like an undercurrent of like "if we ignore her we don't have to deal with placing her and none of us will be put last."
It felt like, because she was the quieter one there and they couldn't easily bounce their bigger personalities off of her they just kinda shoved her to the side because she was "outsider" to their general group dynamic.
At least with the guys you expect them to just be harsher (though goddamn the racism YIKES). Hurts a lot more to be ostracized by your peers because there's this sense that they think lesser of you.
Yeah the way the girls did it was less abrasive but it also cuts deep. The racism on the guys end was super disturbing to me

Even taking the personality aspect out of it personal opinion on who is attractive varies WILDLY. I’ve had a best friend of 30 years and we have such different taste it’s nuts! If an woman wanted to eat McDonalds everyday and never exercise and lose weight, all she would have to do is eat around 300-500 calories less McDonalds everyday.
and 5 sets of a push up/pull up/squat variation at home 2 or 3 days a week is plenty for a woman or man to build muscle and keep themselves functioning well.
@@sensid-iwnl-5201 And everyone has time and energy for that right? Work 2 jobs and you have the energy to willingly put yourself in a deficit that takes even more energy? Buy decent food that is normally expensive and also takes time to prepare. You're joking.
@@sensid-iwnl-5201 it's actually not easy for everyone to lose weight. Just a fact.
i was the Jennifer growing up, for sure. when i was around people i didnt really know, i was the weirdo with a quiet personality. I'm not conventionally attractive but I'm not weird looking either, but my confidence was so low (in terms of looks) that i would've reacted just like her, been in 5th place the whole time and just smiled back the tears. nowadays, I'm a protector for those kinds of people. i would've been the one forcing myself to be 5th just so someone like Jennifer could be 4th since no one else would. this video is terrible and they should've just stuck with the boyfriend ranking. which is still bad but at least it's anonymous (mostly) and they could just be like "what the fuck do boys know anyway." why the hell should they rank themselves? i know from years of experience that putting 4 people like that together makes the 5th person invisible.
And as Jake said, it seems that they, very intentionally cast her, knowing she is shy snd the other girls had more extroverted personalities
@@azulpargal very much agree. i think it may have not have been intentional in the way of like "this girl's gonna be the invisible one," but moreso in the "we should have diverse personalities" type way, and they didn't realize that they cast 4 "i think I'm hot" girls and a shy girl
@@hell0mega no, the 3 girls were like oh I am not pretty pls stooop, while one was I am pretty of course and Jenifer was like I am not confident in terms of looks but got trashed in all of the remaining categories girls came up cause in the end it was beauty ranking and them making up outfit categories and personalities after 3 minute conversation maybe just while trying to make it t all nicer was a slap in the same time imo
you would rather lie to keep her from being 5th?
@@positivevibesvedaWhy not? She's a beautiful girl and even if you don't think so it's much more beneficial to boost her confidence than rank her low for the sake of "honesty".
26:23 notice how for everyone else homeboy just said "cool this" or " cool that" but for black girl suddenly he has to clarify she's not his type. I'm telling y'all stop putting ya neck on the chopping board like this💀 these ppl tend to be shallow asf
P.S The 2nd and 3rd guy said something similar as well.
These guys are so blatant it's not even funny. Not surprised black girl came last lol
The girls did reverse racism tho putting her first when clearly two girls are way more beautiful regardless of taste. Personally I would put her somewhere in the middle neither beautiful nor ugly

that jubilee video is the worst thing i've ever fucking seen and a part two is a great idea yes. gabi compliments jakey's tone well i think very fun collaboration. good day

She wasn’t pretty tho
a mindset coach is just an unlicensed therapist
When Jennifer's partner described her as "simple" my mind unironically entered into a different dimension, I experienced the death of ego for about a split-second, and then I immediately re-tuned in into this godforsaken timeline. Holy shit that was next level pure evil.
Them saying “I didn’t expect this” when they were ranking the black girl made me laugh in a sad way. As a black girl, I was 100% expecting that.
No but fr! I was not surprised at all.

Jennifer is actually gorgeous.
They’re all good looking girls, but Jennifer has some desirable characteristics that I bet the other girls are lacking.
I hope her bf sees her value.
(Edit:
Just watched the rest of the video. She may need a better bf)
(P.S. wtf @ this black girl slander?? She’s also goregeous)
I knew Jennifer would not be ranked last as soon as I saw the line up. As much as you all feel for her, and I definitely understand because she was done dirty, I fully expected Ajanea to be last given the US and the general view of black women. Like, most people in the comment's section even remember Jennifer's name, but keep calling Ajanea the "black girl." I knew where it would go because I've been there myself.
ajanea being placed last is making me lose my f*cking mind, these men are not seeing the pearly gates
the way the girls would jokingly be like “oh yeah i am not as pretty as you guys” and then put themselves at the bottom but *BEFORE JENNIFER* . bro so rude acting like you can’t even see her
I’m not Jennifer but I know I would be if I was in that lineup. Didn’t even talk to her and just went right in front of her in every category.
All in for part 2! And Ajanea/Jennifer interview would be so good.
That’s it- we collectively all want to date Jennifer

my jaw dropped to the FLOOR when ajanea went from first to last. then it went THROUGH the floor when those boys started calling women "simple" then it went through the earths goddamn crust when that guy said the soft spoken woman "knows her place" there is no way
also is it just me or are all the girls 10/10s and all the boys are like generous 3/10s 😭
The girls did reverse racism tho putting her first when clearly two girls are way more beautiful regardless of taste. Personally I would put her somewhere in the middle neither beautiful nor ugly
I got ten minutes into this assuming the girls would write down their individual rankings on paper or something like that, and when I realized what was actually happening I physically recoiled.
"I'm not that attractive" "Dam right babe" TTTTTTHHEE FUCK,that's a deal breaker,tf.
That just shows me she has low self-esteem, wich is sad, and he is so insufferable or immature that he can't get a difrent, confident gf, wich is clear, Jennifer deserves better
It's okay Jake Sophia is very pretty. I feel so bad for Ajanea. Like it really did come down to race. Also notice how the girls tried to be nice and soften the blow whereas the boys had basically zero empathy when ranking the girls.
Dude this shit is fucking brutal lmao geez. the first week I moved in with my new roommates who i'd never met before they had a bunch of friends over and invited me to play the game they were all playing, idk what it was called but it had a bunch of cards and whoever's turn it was would pick one up and read it and we'd see who all it applied to and those people would take a shot or whatever. I distinctly remember the one card was like "anyone who's skinnier than the person reading this card take a shot" or something, and then the group of like 12 people were just sort of awkwardly talking over each other and naming people who it applied to, and most of the girls got named except for like me and one other girl and it was uhhhh. Like we were all pretty close to the same size anyway and also who fucking cares, no one was *trying* to bodyshame anyone other than whatever company made those cards, but it was just. such a bizarre experience. this whole thing especially making the girls rank THEMSELVES.....they are all trying to be nice but. damn. i feel for u jennifer
not surprised by the asian dude's anti-blackness, speaking as an east asian myself. but yikes! it was hard to watch but only made bearable by the commentary :) good video as always
Yeah, I can't speak for every East or Southeast Asian country, but I felt absolutely hideous living there as a bigger, dark-skinned, black women. I only felt beautiful once, but most of the time I felt like a walking sideshow complete with unwanted pictures and touches. Again, I know this isn't true in most of East/Southeast Asia, or exclusive to this region, but I'm not surprised by this ranking at all.
So the entire guys choice was horrible to watch for obvious reasons, but on a personal level the way the girls completely ignored and excluded Jennifer broke my heart bc I relate so much 😭 not a single one spoke a word or looked at her... Ugh.
The girls did reverse racism tho putting her first when clearly two girls are way more beautiful regardless of taste. Personally I would put her somewhere in the middle neither beautiful nor ugly
Holy fuck this was unbelievably irresponsible and cruel of Jubilee. With any sort of reality show or video I'm inclined to give a LOT of benefit of the doubt to the cast because of how much is cut and how they are manipulated. I have a lot of feelings toward the cast but I know it's not a completely unbiased portrayal.
Jubilee on the other hand should feel completely fucking ashamed and I think it's despicable that they are leveraged as an "unbiased view into human behavior".
If I were Jennifer I would cry for weeks not at the honest rankings but the casual cruelty of every single person involved devaluing me every step of the way.
I truly hope she is doing okay. I would absolutely love to see a follow up with whichever girls you can get on the channel
Exactly. This. This video was so insensitive towards racial biases that are constantly at play in this country as well as the stigma of the “quiet” girl that isn’t conventionally attractive. You definitely worded it better than I did lol, but Jubilee was so fucked up in doing this
fucking hell "simple" is just the worst thing to call anyone, let alone your GIRLFRIEND
CHILL? AMBITIOUS? SWEET? ANY OTHER FUCKING WORD, MY GOD
they definitely just traumatized jennifer like there is no way that was not traumatic?? Literally giving me flashbacks to times I have been traumatically wronged in my own life. Jubilee should provide these people with therapy or a checkup or *something*. Poor girl wtf.
I have a more “step all over me”personality when I interact with people I don’t know but if someone or my SO came at me with that “simple” bs and/or “I’m not into that”, I would loudly ask what they mean by that. Give me a specific thing nothing vague like what most did in the video.
Love the Collab! But who is jubilee made for? Because when I was in my early 20's, I wouldn't have liked it. And now being 30, I really hate it. I couldn't imagine myself sitting down to legit watch people at most 4 years younger than me, all the way to 11 years younger than me, judge each other's looks. Also with that, let's maybe not include the 19 year old with a 26 year old. Those are drastically different points in life. Every guy should have put her last purely based on "I'm a lot older, so it seems weird to judge her."
Kids
Jenifer is just an average person surrounded by conventionally good looking people who are try harding to be nice and humble but in the same time just totally excluding sb they just don't feel is cool enough...
I hate the idea how girls do that thing where none of them will outright say something rude but they still not so subtly just excluded Jennifer from the conversation by just not speaking to her or barely responding when she did speak up. But it's still 10 times better than how the guys did not have a single molecule of empathy in their brain.
thing about a lot of guys is that they hate women being taller than them bc of a dominance issues and control issues
- if you notice they all were like ah they will prolly choose me last because im not tall and the tallest guy first in the boyfriend video, and the girlfriends didnt, but the boyfriends singled out the taller women
As soon as there was one black girl in the line up, I knew to be on edge. Something was gonna happen to cause emotional.
and for the love of god could jubilee include more than one black woman on the panel. it’s giving diversity hire
I definitely need to see the girls humble the guys!
"Nothing against not my type" and now I can't look myself in the mirror because I just so happened to be born with melinin, I remember when grindr profiles looked like civil rights Era widows some times haha
Honestly really upsetting that Ajanea got ranked last because she is absolutely gorgeous, her hair is beautiful, her smile and nose are so cute and her eyes are pretty, literally where is the downside 😭
I bet she’s such a fun person to be around too, like the kinda girl that could get anyone out of their shell
The girls did reverse racism tho putting her first when clearly two girls are way more beautiful regardless of taste. Personally I would put her somewhere in the middle neither beautiful nor ugly
next time they should throw in a plussize girl with just the best makeup and hair and then watch everyone trying to explain why she comes last regardless
They already did, I forgot the name of the jubilee video but this big girl was GORGEOUS in like this red floral dress and everyone acted like she looked like a sock
@@jmiles2797 well, no surprise, but damn :(
I know for a fact I could never be in these types of videos. I'm an overweight, dark-skinned, black woman who does not wear makeup. I know from personal experience and general interactions that I would be last, even if my hair and style work for my look. I'm guessing this is probably why a lot of people with my combination of features don't audition for videos like this.
@@Arri7979 yeah, western beauty standards and this weird new "you look like someone who is already famous therefore you are attractive" approach really just makes everyone the same. There is no diversity anymore, three of these girls look like the same person in different fonts.
But you do your thing! I think that is worth much more than going on a video like that to be validated by others!
THE WAY I LAUGHED WHEN JENNIFER'S BOYFRIEND RANKED HER WTFFFF
i feel like jubilee chose jennifer to be "the ugly one" on purpose. She's overall less conventionally attractive than the other women, shorter, heavier, and less confident, all the other girls wore black and she wore white. i wouldn't be surprised if jubilee were isolating her on purpose, they have a track record of fake positivity or fake "wokeness"
Yeah i thought this was obvious
I hate how they try to base their picks on personality traits... Just rate them and move on, don't explain yourself AHHHHH
Jennifer being ignored and not even like spoken to the whole time is like my life story lolll. Like I know I’m beautiful and I am my own beauty standard in my head, but it still sucks to have people not even consider you as an attractive person based off of gut reaction immediately.
wow first of all my heart aches for jennifer and the subtle racism from the guys makes me so uncomfortable for ajanea
