The mistakes hurt us. We beat ourselves. Missed extra point, fumble, muffed punt, missed blocks. Defense could not stop them at the end. None of that is on Brock. He did well. Losing Dre hurt too.

That whole discussion about “what you see is what you get” with QBs is so refreshing. I couldn’t believe how much of the narrative surrounding JLove after his 2 INT performance in the 4th quarter was relatively positive and hopeful, whereas Purdy, the winning QB who drove his team down the field to win, got more heat. For WINNING THE GAME! I for one am optimistic for Purdy’s future. He’s the real deal.

Imo, Brock Purdy will be the glue that holds this championship contending team together, regardless of who stays or goes. I have no doubt in my mind Brock is worried about BA and wants him a long term Niner, and since he actually cares about BA he will do what he can to help keep his teammate. Leadership on and off the field has been 10/10 for Brock so far, unbelievably impressive start to a career.

Purdy "should" only get better at his craft with his first off season without rehabbing injury. That is the hope. Get the o-line figured out and get creative on offense.

If improvement is linear and every player gets better or plans to get better then why... 1.) are there so many trash teams and qbs in the NFL 2.) If everyone else gets better as Purdy gets better doesn't that mean he's basically the same?

    • @benford574
      @benford574 4 місяці тому +1

He got better last year compared to the year before. Without a full offseason. Most of his improvement will come from experience/mental which is his strongest ability. So I expect him to be much better in the next 2-5 years than he was this year.

    • @Klust413

The O-line if the Niners actually give it some focus, would really give Purdy massive help. They were a bit trashy in some games.

    • @greyklopstock7155
      @greyklopstock7155 4 місяці тому

Honestly, I want us to get dare I say LESS creative on offense! Just run the damn ball in the playoffs! Remember when we beat the crap outta the Packers with Jimmy only throwing like 8 passes? If you know a team is weak to something simple, do it until they stop you! And if they stop you, make them stop you AGAIN!
To me, a big part of WHY Spags was able to outsmart our supposed boy genius head coach was because he and all of us know that if you let him, Kyle will call something at the complete wrong time just because he wants to show you how smart he is. Everyone knows the right side of our line is incredibly weak. So why on earth are you giving the other team a numbers advantage on the right side on crucial third downs? The best tackle of the last decade is on Brock's blind side, you don't have to worry about that. But don't allow future hall of famer Chris Jones to get a free runway to Brock from the right side on third and short in the red zone under two minutes in a one score game.
Brock Purdy played the best super bowl we've seen out of a niners quarterback since Steve Young. He was as good as it gets in the clutch multiple times in the playoffs. I don't know how anyone could watch the last playoffs and call Brock Purdy "limited." He's basically the only thing that ISN'T the problem or in need of adjustment.
Every phase of the game had big problems in the big game. Our stud linebacker blew his Achilles out walking onto the field before the second drive for the defense. Our receivers were giving up on routes and not getting open. Trent Williams had multiple penalties. CMC fumbled the ball in the red zone. Our kicker missed an extra point that might've cost us the super bowl.
I think the number one thing we HAVE to get right this off-season is the DC. Cause we're likely not getting Dre Greenlaw for the season, and maybe never again depending on how his recovery goes. Achilles tendons have ended plenty of careers, so we cannot for a second treat it as a guarantee that he'll ever be back. I hope he gets back and better than ever, but this is the single worst soft tissue injury you can possibly get as an athlete. Since he's not going to be here, it is gonna be imperative for us to get a DC who can likely work with a late round pick rookie linebacker. We're also going to have to fix the pass rush and back end.
I hope we spend every pick on linebacker and offensive line, maybe one for a running back for insurance. I know we have the horses, and this team has been both incredibly lucky and incredibly unlucky. We've been through everything possible damn near for a football team. We were 9 seconds away from having the trophy. I know our niners can DO THIS!

Why does everyone assume Brock is going to learn and get better? I dare you go to show me proof of that? In college Brock got better from Freshman to Sophmore with his sophomore year being the best his Jr and Sr years were damn near identical. Now, being that I watched a lot of Big 12 football I can tell you why. It simple, go look at how many players and who got drafted after Brock's Jr year. Nothing he did elevated his team and he'll always be as good as the talent around him.

The 49ers need to copy how the Chiefs draft and trade. The 49ers spend tons of money on receivers and running backs while skimping on offensive linemen. The Chiefs do the opposite. Fans brag about the Niners offensive weapons as it looks great on paper having multiple 1,000 yard receivers and the leagues best running back. Yet without a decent O-line--yes, it all begins in the trenches--these weapons were not as productive in SB LVIII as they were during the regular season:
    Purdy SB LVIII - 255 YDS pass, 60.5 CMP%, 1 TD, 89.3 RTG
    Purdy 2023 season - 267.5 YDS pass, 69.9 CMP%, 1.8 TDs/G, 113 RTG
CMC SB LVIII - 80 YDS rush, 3.6 AVG, O TDs
    CMC 2023 season - 91.2 YDS rush/G, 5.4 AVG, 0.8 TDs/G
Kittle SB LVIII - 4 YDS REC, 2.0 AVG, O TDs
    Kittle 2023 season - 63.8 YDS REC/G, 15.7 AVG, 0.35 TDs/G
Aiyuk SB LVIII - 49 YDS REC, 16.3 AVG, 0 TDs
    Aiyuk 2023 season - 83.9 YDS REC/G, 17.9 AVG, 0.42 TDs/G
Deebo SB LVIII - 33 YDS REC, 11.0 AVG, 0 TDs
    Deebo 2023 season - 59.5 YDS REC/G, 14.9 AVG, 0.29 TDs/G
Jennings SB LVIII - 42 YDS REC, 10.5 AVG, 1 TD
    Jennings 2023 season - 20.4 YDS REC/G, 13.9 AVG, 0.07 TDs/G
By stark contrast, the Chiefs offensive weapons on average performed as good as or better during SB LVIII as compared to the regular season, despite KC spending far less than SF does on receivers and running backs:
    Mahomes SB LVIII - 333 YDS pass, 73.9 CMP%, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 99.3 RTG
    Mahomes 2023 season - 261.4 YDS/G pass, 67.35 CMP%, 1.58 TDs/G, 0.82 INTs/G, 92.6 RTG
Kelce SB LVIII - 93 YDS, 10.3 AVG, 0 TDs
    Kelce 2023 season - 65.6 YDS REC/G, 10.6 AVG, 0.29 TDs/G
Pacheco SB LVIII - 59 YDS rush, 3.3 AVG, 0 TDs
    Pacheco 2023 season - 66.8 YDS rush/G, 4.6 AVG, 0.41 TDs/G
Rice SB LVIII 39 YDS REC, 6.5 AVG, 0 TDs
    Rice 2023 season - 58.6 YDS REC/G, 11.9 AVG, 0.41 TDs/G
    Valdes-Scantling SB LVIII - 20 YDS REC, 6.7 AVG, 1 TD
    Valdes-Scantling 2023 season - 19.7 YDS REC/G, 15.0 AVG, 0.05 TDs/G
Hardman SB LVIII - 57 YDS REC, 19.0 AVG, 1 TD
    Hardman 2023 season - 19.7 YDS REC/G, 8.4 AVG, 0 TDs
