Find the reference angle and sketch both angles in standard position

- 👉 Learn how to find the reference angle of a given angle. The reference angle is the acute angle formed by the terminal side of an angle and the x-axis. To find the reference angle, we determine the quadrant on which the given angle lies and use the reference angle formula for the quadrant to find the required reference angle.

Short, clear, and to the point. Liked and subscribed. Thank you sir.
you are very welcome!
this guy is a life saver, i wish my teacher just played your videos
So simple and explained perfectly well. Was confused about a part of my homework but now I know!! Thank you so much, God bless you!
You’re the man. Helping me with my midterm. Thanks a bunch
Bless this man. You are the reason I'm passing my math class tbh
I think it's crazy how I'm watching this video nearly 10 years after it was posted. In 2012 I had no idea this was even a thing haha. Regardless, thank you this was very helpful!
Thank you very much for making this video I was struggling with this but after watching the video I suddenly realised where I was lacking. Thank you once again.
YOU ARE BETTER THAN MY TEACHER LIKE REALLY I GET IT IN A FEW MINUTES RATHER THAN WAITING FOR AN HOUR TO GET IT THANX TO YOU SIR
omg you're the best explainer in the world! This is my first time seeing this stuff and it's such a hard concept for me but this definitelyh helped.
awesome! happy to be there for you!
i like how you explain the topic,, it is very clear , short but direct to the topic
This made so much sense to be thank you!! It really helps with how you explained it!! Now I understand it a better
Thank you my teacher can barely speak English and I’m doing digital learning.
You never failed of giving me the best math tutorial. You're the best man!! The best!
Thanksssss man love from saudo arabia 😊
Well done sir.
It’s way much better than how my teacher explains makin it hard to understand. But this video 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️makin look easy
Thanks 🙏
Thanks Mr. McLogan
Nice video thanks! Short and concise!
Golden. I knew how to get it but I was struggling to understand why -- and that opens many more doors than just knowing how to solve it in a technique. Thank you, again!
you are very welcome!
This helped a lot! Thank you so much!
Is this still active? What if its positive 145 do you just immediately 180-145?
yes. in that case, you just subtract the angle from 180 because it's in the second quadrant.
@@mounandi9163 lol you replied a year after
Haha
@@hello-yp9kr lol
Brilliant. Your videos always help!!!
Thanks Mr.Brian
Excellent video
Short and clear thank you sir
You such a saviour, thank you so much .

Thanks a lot
thank you so much
You are very welcome
can you legit be my teacher?

Just wanted to say thank you 💝🥴
way better than watching a 12min video 👍
can one find a side length using the 90 degree right angle instead of the other two unknown angles? and if you can, which side is opp and adj since thaida is resting on the right angle?
to find the reference angle just find the distance from the terminal side to the x-axis, are you asking a different question?
HAHA, funny thing, this is the exact same problem. Thanks man.
Its a pleasant surprise to see someone with the fire keeper as their profile picture, under a video where I would last expect to see one. cant wait for elden ring!!
@@marvtan8209 OOOOOOHHHH
Thank you so much 💕💕
you are very welcome!
Thank you 😊
you are very welcome Jelie
Does minus 360 is constant when the given angle is negative? I'm just confused.
liked and Subscribed ty :)
happy to have you Brett
Would the answer come out negative if theta was initially a positive?
depends on size of the angle
Well done.
thank you!
There's also different formulas for the other quadrants I'd recommend anybody who is still stuck to look it up
How about a positive reference angle?
you just subtract it by 180 or by 180 or by 360 depending on which quadrant it is located on
what do you do if your theta has 4 digits like -3080?
Divide 3080 by 360 and you get 8.555555 repeating. This means you go around the unit circle 8 times in clockwise direction. So subtract the 8 and you're left with .5555555 repeating. What's left represents a degree measure of -200 degrees. Now just do what Mr. McLogan explained in this video. The angles have to be between 0 and - 360 or 0 and 360, so you have to simplify. Kind of like simplifying a fraction--for example, 24/36 is equivalent to 2/3 after it is simplified. -3080 is equivalent to -200 degrees after it is simplified. I hope this makes sense..
Finals tmr baby
Thank you!!
you are very welcome!
fucking karen
Your amazing
How about the positive sir
Can someone explain how do I know which quadrant it is? Still confused on that
Quadrant 1 is in the top right, and then you count counter clockwise for each quadrant
@@erikrodriguez8383 thanks alot
your the best
happy to be able to help you out!
How can reference angle be identical to standard position?
You are a G
Thank u but I have a question I thought in the third quadrant it's 180+ alpha
It would be alpha -180 when alpha is positive, in this example the angle negative so we have to have a different approach
You da man!!!
GRRRRRRRRR POWWWWWWWWWWWW THANKS
Or, you could do 180-145 :)
am i the only one here bc of online schooling😔 2020
