Battling spiders on Chimpanzabubbas - Climbing in the New River Gorge (and with a spider wand!)

  • Bit of a throw back video I've had sitting in the video manifest. Feels right as I (ironically) have been wishing for some sun and nice weather, both of which are in abundance in the NRG when I shot this video. Also, some beta on "spider wand" usage.
Big thanks to my man Mitch Lehman (@climbnrg) for the recommendation and belay!

I love the uncut climbing videos way more than clips. In my opinion they are so much more fun to watch.

Serious question (and I may ask this in a dedicated video): Is this comment in regards to my recent "Fear and Loathing" recap video? I'm planning on releasing the individual pitches in my traditional format but while its my preferred method/format, it may be a little too niche.

You got to have the spider stick cause those mid route spiders can really make things interesting! Most relaxing whipper I've ever taken was in the RRG when I nearly grabbed a spider the size of my entire hand...I was so happy to be falling away from that bad boy that I didn't even care I lost my onsight 🤣

Yeah, I get that. I was climbing a Cherokee Rock Village at nigh, grabbed a jug on a 10a, and found about 5 friends in there. Also, the centipedes. They are plentiful there at night.

This send gives a new meaning to "cleaning" a route.

Dealt with that on a climb in the Delaware Water gap few years ago. The crack we were climbing was infested with em! This video genuinely made me lol

I'm curious about how you were attaching the stick to your harness. It looked like you were clipping it in like pro but what was going on there?

    "heinous"
I've often thought that on many a route.
