Probably we are on the same boat. I learnt basic japanese around ten plus years ago. But due to some reasons i stop. Whenever i try to learn again. I always stuck with polite form n cant relate to any movies songs etc etc. They dont use that. Thats really demotivating. But now with video like this, i become motivate again since what i learnt will be used more often.

Also I read that this form may be used for guessing too, like atsui darou "It may be hot" etc. Is it true?
