  • A couple months ago, I said in a video that the best gold farm in Guild Wars 2.. is the Fractals of the Mists. But how do you even do fractals? What even are fractals?
    In this video, I explain to you how this gamemode works and how to get into it! And then finally.. I'll go through all 22 fractals currently in the game and explain them to you.

    There's really no need to buy +9 agony resistance on the trading post! You'll get plenty of +1 just by playing and you can use those with a vendor in the fractal lobby to buy +9 (or whatever tier you want). You'll save about 1 gold for every +9 infusion compared to the trading post. That's also how you make a little gold off them later, when you've got all you infusion slots filled up - buy higher tier infusions from the vendor and sell them on the trading post.

      @Avenrise 4 місяці тому

      Just to add to this wonderful video reply:
      Wiki 'Agony Infusion' and right at the top you'll see a link titled 'Agony Resistance # Maximizing resistance.' This shows you the cheapest way to get max agony resistance. If you put +9's into every slot you'll go over the cap and it'll be wasted.

      This guide shows the intended path in the fractals. However, experienced group make use of lots of skips resulting playing the fractals vastly differently. Looking forward to an entire fractal skip guide compilation. There are some guides scattered across youtube, but perhaps Lara can make one big ultimate guide for fractal skips :)

    Thank you! The veterans I play with frequently were of no help. Yours, and many other folk's, guides have helped me immensely. Especially after my introduction to the game being, given a level 80 ticket, first PoF mission, then my entire guild quitting the game in the same week. Feels good having veteran players around who want to help newbies.

    Excellent guide as always!
    One thing I'd add is that on Sunqa, once you talk to the third little water elemental buddy you can /gg. It's not necessary but I recommend it because losing aggro on the elements shooting at you can be a pain in the butt even if you've already made it to the rock boss.
    I admit, I had NO IDEA the waterfalls were sometimes safe to walk across. I always just stab or blink across. Or cry in frustration when my build doesn't have one of those options! The more you know...

    We all know that MOST players watching guides for fractals are veteran players who already know how to run it. The ones who really need to watch guides don't :D
    So, even with high agony resistance, one needs to have very high troll resistance when pugging. Fractals lfg tests your patience every day. I rarely do fractals after my regular party stopped playing gw2.

      As a guardian main, this bothers me quiet a bit... erm.. mostly cuz I'm the one calling out new players and i have regrets >.>
      I learned that a good way to avoid some flaming is to admit that you are a new player to fractals and the tone towards you dramatically shifts in your favor.
      the biggest reason i call out players is selfishly to get fractals moving faster and having someone purposely slacking off can get tedious extremely quickly for me...

    important point; you will somewhat regularly get ascended equipment from just doing fractals. Rings, sometimes armor and rarely but eventually even weapons. You will also get a bunch of Agony Resistance that you can use at a vendor to upgrade into all the resistance you will need. It takes some time but is cheaper than buying from the Black Lion

    Lets GO! Just started playing GW2 3 days ago. I'm still on free account so fractals are accessible and enjoyable for me. Thief is kinda hard to play pve tho :D

    • @Vidiri
      @Vidiri 4 місяці тому +2

      Thief was my first class and has been my main ever since! Thief can seem difficult, due to the single-target damage many of it's skills and weapons focus on, but it does have access to some good cleave options that really help in PvE. Also never underestimate the Acrobatics and Trickery trait lines, it adds a lot of survivability to Thief if you're struggling (and is good for offensive and/or support options on some builds too)
      Dagger/dagger is nice for condition (damage over time) based builds (though you need to buy Vipers gear off the TP for it to excel with it in f2p, which can be expensive) especially due to some traits you can slot that ramp up your condition damage a lot.
      Staff is a a great power based cleave weapon, but unfortunately that's locked behind an expansion since it's a weapon for thief that needs special "training" to use (originally tied to the Daredevil Elite Specialization from Heart of Thorns, though you can also get that weapon training from the Weaponmaster in the newest expansion). There might be other options but honestly I love Staff too much to consider the others (I use it on every class i can lol)

    THAUMANOVA TIPS:
    I played in EU server for awhile and switched to US after. And this is my experience with Thauma Tier 4...
    In EU people will fight the Green Ooze Boss (North) first before going down the line. In US they do the Shield Maze (South) first.
    Shield Maze (South):
    People will usually say in chat which number they'll run to (1,2, or 3). For number 3, you can hit the two switches by yourself, just stand in the middle and button mash like in the Flame Room.
    Flame Room (West):
    If a character has blinks or methods to go far very quickly. They usually do the fire room by themselves. So they only need one cooling rod or if they're a true gamer, no rods.
    Final Boss:
    People will type numbers in chat on which order they'll put down their special action key similar to the Shield Maze ("1" "2" "3" and so on...)
    If your dps is pog, then you'll only need 1 or 2, but still keep your order in mind just in case.
    In EU, Tier 4 players do this 100% of the time. In US, we still get a couple of headless chicken players 60% of the time. 😂

    "To all the veteran players watching you know I'm right." Absolutely true, I had a static group for a while and 90% of the wipes were us not paying attention and taking way too much damage from having boons or all of the DPS noticing the vomit and collectively targeting the healer. The instabilities normally didn't matter, but when they do you can really tell.

      To be fair, after playing WoW on-and-off at a reasonably high level for 16+ years, I've found GW2 players to be much nicer than what you might find in WoW. GW2 players are also more willing to help newer players learn the ropes. As long as you're honest and tell people you're new but willing to learn, you'll find loads of players that will want to help you out.

    Great guide, but too bad nothing was said about the LFG "slang" and some unspoken rules.
    For example at 5:32 it's really hard for someone new to figure out, what "Ad inf 3 - 21 CM+8" should mean.
    Are there any good resources about those abbreviations and what they mean?

      Yep! There's a page on the wiki with every acronym and abbreviation used by players. Just do '/wiki Lingo' or '/wiki abbreviations' in-game, to go there.

    I know this is not consistent with the discussion but I approached GW2 in the past having a lvl 35 necro and now I started again as engeneer and I was considering buying path of fire. The real question that I'd love to be answered is if it is still worth to buy just the path of fire dlc which includes the 1st dlc and maybe wait a bit before buying the others or if it's useless to buy only the patch of fire dlc without the others? Because i don't want to be forced to pay 100$ worth of dlc and i don't want either to waste 30$. Ty

      In my opinion, if you're enjoying the game, then the smart thing would be to pick up the entire Elder Dragon Saga at once and save money. I wouldn't jump straight to PoF though, even though it has the mounts, since you'll enjoy the story a lot more by playing it all in order - so Personal Story, Season 1, Season 2, Heart of Thorns, Season 3, Path of Fire, Season 4, Icebrood Saga (Season 5), End of Dragons (and then buy and play Secrets of the Obscure to get caught up to us!). There are hundreds of hours of content there if you want to play through everything at least once, so I can guarantee whatever way you buy, you'll be getting your money's worth; it took me almost a thousand hours to do all the content in the Elder Dragon Saga, and I've still got thousands of achievements left to complete.

    As someone with Fractal God who does CMs, T4s, and Recs daily, you're severely underselling the value of Recs. The Daily reward chests for Recs don't just give potions for T4s, they also give Fractal Encryptions, where the bulk of Fractal gold is made. With all 4 Fractal titles, Recs give just as many Encryptions as T4s at 30. They'r every much worth doing.

    • @Laranity
      @Laranity  4 місяці тому +3

      Oh, don't get me wrong- I said in the video that the rewards from Recs are still pretty alright! I commend you for doing those too every day 😛 But without titles, it's about a third of the profits of T4 dailies- so if you're skipping anything, skipping Recs is your best move.

    • @lyokhamishukov3513
      @lyokhamishukov3513 4 місяці тому +1

      @@LaranityRespectfully, you mention multiple times in the video that you skip Recs. I don't think that kind of attitude is something you should convey to new players who are trying to get into the game mode. I know this is a "gold making" video, but there are a ton of reasons to do Recs, even if the rewards "aren't as good."
      For starters, the individual fractals themselves might only give 1/3 of the rewards, but the daily Recs chests give encryptions too, and bring the gold value up to 2/3 of T4s. Just looking at today's fractals; with no titles, T4s give 24 encryptions and Recs gives 18. That's 42 encryptions total, and with the 12 free keys you get from T4 rewards and the 30 you can buy, you can open all of them every day.
      Second is fractal potions. Yes, you mentioned that you can just buy them, but why would you when you can just do Recs and get them for free. People do expect you to have those potions by the time you get to T3s. If you're doing T4s and you don't already have the Omnipot, you should be doing Recs first for the potions.
      Lastly, and you don't mention these at all, are Fractal Research Pages. These are required for the Legendary Ad Infinitum collection, and outside of CMs, Recs chests are the only place to get them. I know you didn't mention the Legendary, but it's something that players will encounter, so I think it's worth mentioning. Pages are probably the single most important reason why new players do Recs, because they're working on that Legendary collection.
      I want to reiterate, I know this is a gold making video, but it's missing just a bit of information on Recs that I think was worth mentioning. Recs are very much worth doing, no matter if you're new or if you're doing CMs and T4s every day. Even if they bring down your gold/hour, you're still going to end up with more gold overall if you do them rather than if you skip them. This comes from a place of constructive criticism, because otherwise the video is great.

    some mistakes, and some vital information missing. General rule = stack for green aoe so dmg is shared, dump red aoe outside the group. On first boss of shattered observatory make sure the orb does not reach you, bash it away. On last fractal (silent surf) interrupt the boss then use your nukes, he takes more dmg after you interrupt him save cc for then its at every 10% of his health. The add you jump to YOU have to do, no one else can see them, it happens at 66 and 33% of his health.
