I'm really sick of people making excuses for bigotry. If you had done focus groups with Nazis or KKK members, would you let them off the hook? Would you focus on their "humanity"? Give me a break.
@PKellyTeacher I'm so glad you commented. I don't want to hear these are good people. Knowing if a Black person had the same track record as Trump. They would be screaming the words "Lock him up, he's a Felon" They don't get a pass.
I think what you want to say, is it no true follower of Jesus would vote for the man. Conservative Christianity has been lied to for millennia. So why would they not fall in line for this guy?
My curiosity about this topic, led me to study the history of Christianity, which has led to my deconstruction of my faith. Seems to me the survival of this religion is dependent upon its ability to become an integral component of governments.
I never thought about it that way. That is very deep, and also terrifying to not have the freedom to choose our spiritual beliefs because of some Christians who are insecure about their beliefs (if I am reading you correctly). The approach is anti-free agency which was Satan's plan in some faiths (the anti-Christ). To be able to choose, instead of being forced, was part of Christ's love. This cookie cutter idea of humanity is destructive. We can't learn everything important there is to know about the world through one or two types of people.
you'll find that the trump voters have had less schooling. they are not dumb- but they don't know the big picture- for example they are not Environmentalists. but the Environment is the most important thing that keeps us alive!!!!!
If you think that education level is directly correlated to wisdom and big-picture understanding, you may be quite disturbed to find out that 1930's Germany was one of the most highly educated nations in the world. Personally, I have found that some of the wisest and most connected to reality people I have interacted with in my lifetime do not have the highest levels of formal education, and some of the most disconnected from reality people I have ever met are in the highest levels of academia. Sure, it's anecdotal, but I would not be surprised if my experience is quite consistent and widespread.
When you talk about the dangers of viewing the world through a lens of political allegiance, do you find a political allegiance skewing the view of those who claim allegiance to an anti-Trump political identity? Do you see dangers there as well when it comes to discernment and critical thinking? I have found that there can be just as strong of an allegiance (if not stronger) to oppositional politics which can cause some serious problems with discernment and engagement with reality. Thoughts?

Exactly. If you vote for an open fascist, you ARE a fascist.

@@PKellyTeacher You are spot on. Humanity! Laughable!

Bigotry is not a widespread problem. And if it was, it is not against the law to be a bigot.
No true Christian would have voted for Trump. Not sure what Bible these folks are reading.
Amen.

I know a lot, actually. You should get to know some. A lot of lovely people.
They're just not reading the Quran.
@jonnieinbangkok after the first time I read it, I don't ever want to read it again either. The book of Mormon

"Humane"? You are so detached from reality.

15:00 - 16:00 That is fascinating because Kennedy, who is also a Catholic, tends to be rather popular amongst many of these
