  • This cabin is practically invisible! Thanks to its mirrored exterior, it reflects its surroundings and changes with the seasons. The tiny 200-square-foot interior is equally stunning with a minimalist Scandinavian interior design with maple walls and stainless steel accents. Another incredible feature is the "portal" window, which spans the entire width of the cabin and provides a spectacular view from the bed.

      5:32 So he mentions that the plus marks on the reflective surface is a bird film to prevent bird strikes. I think only time will tell how well it works. Bird strikes happen often enough with big windows on regular, non-reflective, even overtly large buildings; the windows themselves are a major source of confusion for birds. So I would be happier to see bird film on the big window as well. They make decals that are reflective in the UV range but mostly translucent in the visible range, so in theory, they are very apparent to birds but don't obstruct the view through the window.
      I'm glad that they took it into consideration at least. Building a cabin with the gimmick of being in harmony with nature, that instead actively kills wildlife, would be pretty cringey lol. I will admit it looks pretty cool though.

    • @aprisia
      @aprisia 2 роки тому +5

      The mirroring effect, as well as the markings, should significantly reduce that. There are few birds that will intentionally fly towards what appears to be an object approaching it, ie it's reflection.

    Hi Everyone! We're seeing lots of comments from people concerned about birds. We love them, too! We're not experts but we asked a lot of questions and from what we learned (and from what Josh shared at the end of the video), the bird film and panel distortion were an integral part of the cabin design to make sure it was safe, and they do a great job of making the cabin visible to birds and wildlife. The cabin is also low to the ground and tucked into the woods. As a side note, we also found that the window was almost as reflective as the stainless steel panels. Thanks for watching and commenting :) :)

    Remarkable person reading this.. It’s going to get better; all it is a season of opportunity to grow and be better than before. Challenging times are meant to strengthen us, not to break us. Success doesn’t define to what happened to us; it is how we choose to deal with our circumstances. The more you grow and develop as an incredible person as you are, the more things will change for the better. Forgive more (for you), be grateful for even the smallest things (we have it way better than someone else), choose love over ego, choose humility over ego (humility is strength), and finally, invest into new skills so that your future self will thank you. Our lives will change forever the more we grow. Be thankful for the challenges for we know something greater is coming. Love you always - Nathalie ✨❤️

    one for a bedroom, one for a living room, one for a kitchen and one for storage.
    could lay them out in a square so there is a 20'x20' indoor garden in the center
    make the walls 1 foot thick foam board insulation, solar panels over the entire roof and solar panels over half the deck for shade.

I like the homes that I can imagine myself living in rather than those homes that I would vacation in. At times, rental properties can make one think about options for building one's own home. Birds. That was/is my first concern. So before commenting, I randomly clicked toward the end of the video. And sure enough, right there (a little before 5:51) he was addressing that issue. I'm still not sure that will prevent birds from being confused and flying into it. Because from some angles, it seems like it still looks like the forest. It must really confuse animals also. Honestly, I'm not a fan of this.

    I’m extremely shocked at the comments about the birds flying into it…did no one see the little white “+” ALL OVER IT? 😐

    Seems like a neat thing to do, but not certain it’s a viable alternative. I agree that birds would fly into the building. I’d like to know the cost per sq foot compared to normal cabin structures. Also, only have one window might be claustrophobic??
