Thank you for this episode. I am revert from the north of Ireland. This was so good to see. I grew up around Palestine flags and banners, and the conflict was always close to my heart. Since accepting Islam, the love I have for the Palestinians and their fight has only become greater. May Allah grant victory to the Palestinian resistance! 🇵🇸 ❤
Irish people generally support Palestine it's not just because of the Irish famine but generally they are upright and stick to the morales of what's right and wrong and speak out .
Free Scotland ? From who ? The Scot’s participated in colonisation alongside the British. Economically and politically they were shown disdain by Westminster but they were not oppressed. They have suffered from Neoliberalism in particular in a massive way thanks to Thatcher but they were never oppressed like the Irish were oppressed. The oppression of the Irish pales in comparison to the horror inflicted against the Palestinians so you tacking Scotland alongside Palestine is even more ridiculous. If you mean Scottish ‘freedom’ from the United Kingdom then fair play but realistically it will be symbolic politically in terms of economics you will never be free of the United Kingdom it’s too engrained.
@@colethompson6914 You’re that right Scotland participated a long with the rest of Britain in colonialism in past centuries, the same can actually be said of the Irish to a certain extent as well. I doubt this person is trying to compare Scotland now to Palestine that would obviously be ridiculous. Right now the situation in Ireland isn’t compatible to the Palestinian struggle as things have changed to an extent but historically it has been very much so and you could argue worse as that was a period of over 8 centuries of colonisation, where they’re were multiple genocides and attempts of total ethnic cleansing of the Island. Furthermore the people of the Highlands of Scotland were oppressed like the Irish and were collectively punished and blamed for the 1745 Jacobite rebellion, where many massacres/ethnic cleansings ensued at the hands of the Hanoverian state forces in the aftermath of Culloden. Along with laws of persecution put in place throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, stripping clan chiefs of their lands, banning the Gaelic language and cultural customs such as dress, in an attempt to “civilise” and “pacify” the Gaels of Scotland. Then after followed the Highland clearances where entire communities were thrown off their land to make way for sheep farming etc and forced to emigrate, in some aspects similar to the Nakba. Almost an entire people and way of life were destroyed, the history and fate of the Gaels in Scotland was very similar to that of the Native Americans.
It’s interesting to learn about some of the history of Ireland. The similarities in the resistances are interesting. Respect to Sean and the Irish people.
Love Irish people. they are brave honest and always be on the side of oppressed. Their truthfulness is evident from their actions and words. Respect Ireland 🇮🇪
In comparison to Dillys 1st podcasts his ability to control a conversation with different personalities has grown so much Allahumma barik. Also he asks a great variety of questions. Big up brother ❤
Thank you both for a very perceptive conversation that a lot of descendants of colonised people have, a deep understanding and empathy of each other, in all corners of the world.
It was cruel and wrong what was done to Irish people as in Gaza, record breaking harvests in Ireland but nothing was left for locals they were left to starve for no Good reason. Great video thankyou.
Brilliant conversation, I would have been of a similar age as Sean while growing up in Derry, the south American connection such as the liberation theology and the Cuban revolution greatly shaped my own outlook, the clarity of the use of language as a weapon to silence was great
Well done, terrific podcast and many points beautifully expressed. One of the main things I would advise anyone trying to voice the Palestinian position and the role of Hamas would be to study Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness. They were initially banned from any TV show but in time became accepted by the mainstream. The problem with trying to plead the Palestinian position with the likes of Piers Morgan is that the moment a voice is raised or it becomes a shouting match, the Palestinian position is lost. I would recommend studying both Gerry and Martin as they could hold their thoughts and position even in the face of the most difficult situations created by IRA violence. They would've wiped the smirk from Piers 'Hamas' Morgan in moments by maintaining calmness, rationality and conviction. Once vilified by mainstream their political agility gained ground and acceptance to the point Martin McGuinness shook the hand of the Queen. Extraordinary things do happen and the road map has already been printed. I do believe that with similar leadership presentation even Hamas coukd be at the Peace talks necessary for a long lasting Palestinian solution
I really enjoyed this conversation. As a person of Celtic ancestry I really appreciate that there is this kind of conversation with muslim brothers. Yes, for as a Celt I feel close to Muslims, I like them, I like the way of thinking and the solidarity that arises because our peoples have been oppressed by colonialists forms a bond that makes us blood brothers. Asalam Aleykum y thank you for this work.
love to the irish people, may we unite when the time is right. Gaddafi stood by you back in the day, may the muslim world revive itself and stand by you in the future if necessary
The Irish are blessed to have a diaspora community in the US and this has allowed their stories to be told through the media, including motivations, suffering and experiences which led to the creation or rise of the IRA. That’s how I began learning about the struggle for Ireland.
the solidarity between the Irish and Palestine is a heartening spectacle, but part of me just thinks can everyone not just have empathy for Palestinians because we are all human beings. it shouldn't matter what tribe or ethnicity we are, whether someones Muslim, Jewish, catholic, protestant. for me the light in someones eyes is enough. Free Palestine.
I've always been fascinated with Northern Ireland for da'wah purposes. It seems like a good part of the UK to do da'wah given the higher religiosity there. And that yearning to be totally different to the UK could also work in our favour. I know it's a dangerous region and people there are comfortable hating one group and will see Muslims upsetting the status quo. But again we could fill their yearning for a connection with the creator through Islam. And, ironically/contrary to what most people may think, I think having this third group separate from the Catholics and Protestants will make for a more coherent society
Sean is a good person. Cares about people. Especially people who are giving it a go. And people who try and better themselves. One of the lads. He understands reason. Logical thinks. This is why Sean is well received. He gives a balance perception of how the best way forward for the next generation.
As salaamu alaykum, The episode with Daniel Haqiqatjou which was filmed in October has been postponed until the war in Gaza has de-escalated and a permanent ceasefire is established.
I come from a very similar background to Seán! I learned from my parents/grandparents to support Palestine and others( the good guys, even got told I had to support the Indians and not the cowboys in the movies), Am just lately with certain things that have happened, in Dungannon, Belfast, Sligo,Dublin and other places!!! Im scarred, I have daughters and some of the crimes being carried out by migrants( and I know Irish people commit crimes) , but as I say, im deeply worried, call me names if ye want ,but thats how I feel! I agree with Seán, no one should have to take in criminals! Who is doing the checks? Sorry meant to say, " great podcast"!
Douglas Murray is the prime example of why Islamophobia and indeed all religious/cultural phobias are rapidly gaining popularity. He consistently stokes up the Fear Factor.. 'these' people (insert any non WASP group) will kill you in your bed or will destroy your home, way of life and people just eat it up. The only way to win any argument with this bitter, hateful and unfair war mongering is to show people who you are really. Strangely it's the Internet which is key. When you watch podcasts like these which the Mainstream Media would never show, rationality, intelligence, sensibility, humanity and so on just flourishes. People fear the unknown. It's that simple. But we live in new times. We can watch podcasts about Islam, about Black people's rights but more importantly watch comedy, daily life, influencers, likeable people and through this fear dissipates. Palestinian people in the past 3 months have shown that they are a loving, deeply living people. Strong, caring, intelligent and inspiring. Before 7th Oct say Palestine and people would think Jihadists or whatever Hollywood stereotypes. The way to beat Douglas Murray, Far Right Fascists etc is just let who you are become known.
Amid the ongoing challenges in Gaza, a notable observation arises - specifically, that the casualties predominantly consist of Palestinian Muslims. The absence of reported fatalities among Hamas members and Israeli soldiers raises questions. As Muslims, it is imperative for us to swiftly comprehend this situation. The similarity between Hamas and the Israeli government is striking, prompting inquiries into the apparent alignment of their interests. Why do Hamas fighters always hide their faces? Who are they frightened of? Why Hamas leader is still not caught? He is freely visiting other countries. He lives a normal life. Most importantly he never participated in any battle. We should become the voice of innocent civilian Muslims of Palestine. I would request the hosts of this podcast to bring a representative of Hamas and simply ask him what is their plan, or fighting strategy? If they cannot fight with Israeli cruel forces, then why they are doing this at the cost of innocent Muslim civilians? Please think about this perspective.
