Night shift and day shift too. We used to have a meme up in the office, ‘nobody blinks an eye when calling night shift during the day, but everybody loses their minds when night shift call in the middle of the night’.
I used to work 8pm-4am. Every 3 months, HR would call at 9am to tell me to come in at noon for a performance review that basically consisted of:"You're doing great. Okay, that's all." I hated that HR with every fiber of my being. If you're gonna call me out of bed after 3.5 hours of sleep, at least have the decency to let me come in for the review right away.
I did this to my boss after he called me at lunch(12pm) I had been asleep for hours. He told me if I had a problem to call so I called him at 2am... I ran nights so we had problems in this regard sometimes calling each other at off hours. We got mad at each other but it is what it is. That was the job. Didn't happen often though. We already had two 30 minute meetings a day and that was enough of that.
Night people: "If I wake up anyone they'll be furious" Morning people: "Alright, time to do the job of a rooster and make sure EVERYONE HEARS ME AT 7 IN THE MORNING"
I've been doing the same for just shy of 3. The neighbors love to play music around 9 am. Though that normally wouldn't be a huge issue (the walls are pretty thick and block it out pretty good and I'm a heavy sleeper), The vibrations from the music can be felt through the floor. The base is quite strong.
The worst thing in the world, especially when you come back from work, is disturbing noises. My mother used to be this loud when cleaning in the weekends while I was the opposite; waiting for her to wake up to do any noise. Thank God she got some sense and stopped it.

Nah, some people apparently brush their tongues all the way back to their throat. My brother does this. Supersonic gagging noise every time he brushes his teeth.
Been working nights for almost 15 years now. This hits home so much. Living in an apartment building makes it worse cause I can't tell them to go F off, cause of rules are in favor of them being day people. Makes it hard for getting chores done a pain too. Roommate at least is kind enough to do chores while I'm awake and if I'm sleeping makes minimal noise.
OMG! This is so accurate! All night while I'm awake I'm as quiet as a mouse, come morning and everyone decides they need to test just how loud they can be..
Right out of high school, I still lived with my parents and took a night job because it paid better. None stop noise all fricking day from every member of the family. By the time the weekend hit, I'd be so tired, I'd basically sleep through from Saturday morning to Sunday evening straight.
Been a night owl most of my life, a pretty darn bad case too, morning classes in school were actual torture for me. Eventually got a night shift only job and I was honest to god shocked when I didn't feel absolutely exhausted for the first time ever and I could sleep and work in my preferred hours. Our world screws night active people so hard it's not even real. There is so little understanding for it too, often even from family members. When I still lived with my parents I used to come back from work around 7 and fall asleep around 8 am and at noon I had my mom or dad shaking me awake because "It's already noon, you lazy f*ck!" Never did they understand that even if I slept till 2 pm I still wasn't getting as much sleep as them.
When I was working nights my roommate was on mornings and it was perfect. I'd go home and he'd already be on the way to work, I'd wake up and he'd be coming home from work and we'd have the day to be ourselves. Then he'd go to bed and I'd be going to work.
My family were the worst about this. It also sucks when you have to get up super early so you try to go to bed early but no one else has to get up early so they're still awake with the TV on full blast
My grandmother does this a lot to me since I sleep in late. Vacuuming, cleaning loudly, things that can easily be put off till later when people aren't sleeping. I'm petty so I put the vacuum right in front of her bedroom door, turned it on and left it run until she decided to get up and turn it off. Sometimes you just need to show people how it feels since they don't understand how it feels from words.

But I love the night shift so screw it XD
Working grave shift and living with my parents and little brother. My brother will keep opening the bedroom door no matter how many times I close it and empty a bottle of cologne when he gets home in the room
