To ss indeed true they don't sell watches they sell story. Actually i have seen all the vids of these channels they hardly talk mints about watch specifications in 8 min vid rest of the minutes is story and how old it's is. Cuz This so called luxury watches has only few features and cost fortune.

Heheh as beat up as that Rolex is it is actually the better example between the two. You can tell the Rolex is pretty uniformly old and beat up compared to the omega where the patina on the dial doesn't match the hands and bezel so it's not all original

Tanvir Molla yeah but thats what makes this chanel interesting; a quick google search will reveal specs and every watch almost has a dozen UA-cam videos that talk specs and how it feels on the wrist, Watchfinder does something unique. Thats why most of us subscribe and wait with enthusiasm for their next video.

I think the Omega 300 would be far more iconic had they not tweaked the design aesthetic so often. (And I'm an Omega fan.) The early models are classics.

I think the new 300 with the 8900 movement is a really good move forward, but not keen on the lume on the rotating bezel.

Agreed. Maintain the overall 300 design throughout the following decade and keep the Ploprof in production during that same time too and Omega would have had a watch easily identifiable to them. And never get into quartz during that blasted revolution!

Omega as always, arrived late to present to the public what the public asks, on the other hand, Rolex, once again presents to the public what the public asks for quickly, and as always, with an unbeatable marketing! I prefer the quality of an Omega.

The Omega dial is much more visually appealing to me so I'd go Seamaster. It is nice to see a Rolex used to that level of 'patina.' Someone actually used that watch for what it is instead of a status symbol. I find that very refreshing to see.

I have had my Omega for 18 years from Jonashop when Amazon began to sell more than books. It has never been serviced and looses no more than 2 sec a day. I have taken it to 155 ft depth when I was a wreck diver. One pass of my underwater flashlight and the glow on the dial and hands lasted all night.

I love my Omega. The company is rich with history. And they don't try to ride the market with limiting sports watches. Rolex is irresponsible by trying to pinch the availability of their sports watches to the public. As a result, they try to justify the increase in prices for their sport watches.

Omega for me for shear engineering and looks. If my life depended on exact time keeping the latest 2018 Omega Seamaster 300m is the watch I would put it in. This is sure to become a classic, it makes the Submariner look a bit "so what " by it's now boring look, only thing holding it up in the market is the Crown logo. I expect Rolex within the next two years to change the Sub slightly to make it not only a working tool, but a classy working tool like the Seamaster 300m. Love to see the two oldies, as you can see the pedigree of the two watches, and wonder what have they done and seen.

I have a fully complete 1967 5513 on period-correct riveted bracelet, and a fully complete 1963 165.024 on 1506 period-correct bracelet, witn original naiad crown - both in impeccable condition. The Omega probably in absolutely exceptional condition. The Rolex outplays the Omega with its screwdown crown. However, the 165.024 case design and bezel are surreal, making me think of old Cadillac tailfin body design. It is revolutionary, spectacular. Which takes the Omega to a different level for me in terms of emotion. My other grail is a 1967 321 Speedy on a 1450, and the one I would dream to add would be a 1950s Rolex 6542 - with original radium-bakelite bezel - but that is not within my budget so it remains just a dream. I never had one in my hands.

Lovely vid. I cant recall the hands on a gen1 Seamaster 300,
But with that specific hand set I consider that the Military Specification and would compare that with the Rolex Mil Sub.
WHICH even the MOD spec was basic on the Omega design. With Omega having the contract priory to Rolex.

Omega was the first milsub , rolex 5517 came after . They were cheaper to buy bulk so the navy replaced omega with rolex 5517 . Which had problems with the backs rusting onto the cases , hence later the stainless was replaced with 914L .to solve the problem ,

Omega could play the same unavailable waiting queue game to control the market or just throw some ”new” bones and let the used market does the marketing/branding/hype job and resell those old bones but they wouldn’t innovate going forward or still be modern/relevant. It’s a different approach.

Rolex is doing it wrong in some areas these days.
In my opinion every every sports rolex should include glide lock clasp not just sub and sea dweller. Maybe they will in 10 years...
And latest rolex designs are little bit too much, increasing diameters and including maxi dials just to have more wrist presence ruined perfect balance (which previous models had) and to me it feels it was just wrong move...
I like Rolex but these days I dont know...
They just don’t want to make it how it should be just to leave room for future intentional upgrades...
But then again they are huge company selling around 1 million watches per year so if they make perfect product what would they sell next year...
    Its a long discussion.
    Great video as always! Peace

Is it me? Or have Omega standards fallen so low that it is no longer that important. What am I ranting on about, the Omega symbol in the cristal glasses, watching these videos, I've yet to find one set correctly, the devil has always been in the detail. When I worked for Omega in their service centres in Saffron Hill in London and later in Eastleigh in Hampshire, one of my roles was quality control. A watch with its crystal even a fraction out of line would fail and be returned to the watchmaker who worked on it. The same with the case back and the buckle on the strap or the clasp, if a bracelet, each Omega symbol had to match the one on the dial; the only exception would be a screw back. While I was in the case section, responsible for the cleaning, refinishing and water resistance of each case sent in for repair; it was my job to ensure the crystal was set spot on. It breaks my heart to see the slapdash appearance of the watches shown in thee videos, have Omegas standards dropped so low?

  • @maan2094
    @maan2094 6 років тому

I think it’s less to do with the design and and more to do with Rolex’ marketing. Simply putting it on Jack Cousteau’s wrist was probably enough to get the job done. And if it was a matter of who came first, then Blancpain would have been the winner. With its earlier-released fifty Fathoms and its 250 year heritage.

I don’t think it’s a matter of Omega deserving more acclaim than Rolex, sometimes a thing is just done right or better than the opposition. Other times it’s just luck. Rolex got lucky with the ocean and Omega went to the moon. Both are great brands, and should be judged individually as both make outstanding watches. I would love to own a Submariner and a Planet Ocean. Both are wonderful time pieces.
