Thank you indeed for the video. , May I tell you that 4wks ago I could see from my right eye but overnight I developed a degree of sudden vision loss. It was quite dark at first but within a week everything went wavy, I can't see my own face or family members from the right eye. I booked with an optition whom said I have cataracts in both eyes but not to worry about that as after tests, he said it is macular oedema which as a patient of theirs, did not show a year or so earlier. I told him it happened 6-9 days previous and he was puzzled as to how I pinpointed same. He asked me if I had suffered stress lately and I said, Sir, I cannot tell you just how bad things have been since May 2021. I was seen at eye infirmary and they say its AMD, I am 68 years old. , My notes confirm, No previous ocular history. Sir, may I ask you how it can be age related when, as I have learnt, that there has never been a early/intermediate stage and often it says the person is informed during routine eye tests. The stress I have been forced to endure have made me feel suicidal, I have contacted a crisis team now..., I just cannot accept that its age related overnight. Can you please advise Sir.
It is age related because, accoring to the booklet issued by The College of Optometrists, "Around one in 10 people aged 65 or over show some signs of AMD." I am 75 and noticed the wavy lines and a general sensitivity to light in my right eye a couple of weeks ago but paid no real attention to it. Now things are getting a bit blury so I had a consultation with an optometrist yesterday and she has requested my GP to seek an urgent appointment for me with a consultant in my local hospital. Given that I've been waiting 8 months for a simple stomach procedure, I suspect I'll be using a white stick before I get anywhere near an eye consultant at the hospital. I can certainly relate to the stress thing though. I've been involved in a dispute with HM Land Registry and a third party since September.
