I love my 1994 LWB with 297K on the original 4.2 and transmission. It's been my daily mule in the mountains for 10 years, all climates, all conditions, all elevations, all terrain, conquered with ease. Never stuck, never worried about getting stuck. Yes it will have mechanical issues, but I'm a mechanic, so I have had good "luck" with it.
It's design really is timeless (like the original Mini), and there is a market for the 3-door RR if someone was to start building them. The trouble is that they would be silly money. I was lucky enough to have a 3-door Vogue RR converted to automatic.
More capable off road than a defender, I've owned 3 RRC, well looked after they are decent. Remember, this was the flagship of the LR fleet hence more money was spent on development and more money was spent on quality of components than lower members of the LR family 👍
Defenders has shorter overhang so they are way better offroad. I have driven both in competion trial and there is no doubt that the Defender is better ;)
@@robertdrum6857 they don't have a shorter overhang than a Bobtail and they don't have a 3.9 V8. I've thrashed Defenders and RRCs around off road and a bobbed RRC eat defenders for breakfast, every morning ;-) Check out Devon 4x4 Rainforest Challenge 👍
From 91 to 05 I was responsible for foundry tooling approval dimensional reports and Engineering deviation reports of the Landrover Aluminium V8 block and head , also Storm TD5 Aluminium head but not block.
RR Classic is a One Off PHENOMENA -and Incredibly Capable Vehicle !! But New Defender is Up there and better in many ways - though its Took LR 23 years to produce a True Competitor
It won in 1979 and 1981( i think it was) before the competitors took over by factory sponsored cars. Shame that land rover never sponsed the dakar rally.
Yeah. now these are widely demanded by European investors/collectors/restoration giants, Aspen residents of course... used to be able to beat these offroading cheap in Usa... now a fella cant find abandoned/rotted/no title roach project for under $3500!! I know a guy breaking them, from USA, shipping the valuable interiors/burl/dash/ drivelines to breakers in Europe/England now making a fortune! All cheap parts classics are getting hoarded by wealthy Classic owners for parts now.... AAAAAARRRRGGGGG

@@burtron455 nice man, those LWB cars are very rare. Where are you based?
Looks like a fun way to spend a day! The old Ranger Rovers are cool.. Built to off road.
Good way to explore the Aussie bush!
I much prefer the RRC over a defender way more comfortable and can be had at a better price point than a defender
Yeah I do like the plushness of thr RRC!
Also faster than a defender

Prices of the 3 door has 🚀
This was a good day out in the bush. I think we need a few river crossings next time 😄
Yeah man. Need to wade through some deep sh*t
Solid day on the tracks. Slug goes hard, love the Rangey luxury tho
Yeah Slug did go hard! "Cheep" and cheerful. But do love the classy Rangie

What an adventure!
Wild day out!

I've learned something today! Nice 🙌

When is the 2j going in? 🤔
Or an LS?? Need that low down torque yo
Haha
the RRC in the video got a hood closing problem...
You sure it's not just the panel gap? Good ol' RRC build quality 😅
Defenders are just Range Rover chassis’s with a badly fitted body kit. RRC all day long. Space for you right (or left) arm.
Agree 💯. So much class
Needs tail pipe Cranking over at 45 degrees and cutting off at 45 Degrees
I have a lr3 v8se 2005. 160 000 km
it won the dakar rally
Really? Didn't know that... proper pedigree 👌
@@DWI_Community sure, as if it were made for it

@@robertdrum6857Maybe, but during my safaris to Tunisia and Libya my standard Toyota was way above any Range Rover.
Hipsters in the bush ! Reminds me of zoolander when they poor petrol over themselves
What did you smoke today?
The Range Rover has no Defender heritage its the othe way around. Range Rover development started in 1965. BTW that V-8 engine is ticking.
Thanks for clarifying.
Yeah it's ticking badly isn't it!? Although apparently it's sounded like this for the last 100k kms.
@@DWI_Community Sounds like a stuck hydraulic tappet to me.
I'll let the owner know & have it checked.
Liner slip, flex plate or exhaust also. Last is easy to check. But go with the coordinators first. Nice video.
Sounds like you've had a few of these? 👌
Ticking tappets! Needs oil or the camshaft could be worn
Yeah it's mega loud isn't it... definitely had enough oil in it. Apparently its sounded like this for like 100k kms 🤷♂️
Are you using synthetic or conventional oil ? Remember push rod flat tappet engines ticks and leaks when using synthetic! I learned that on my DII 😢

Yeah so many once undesired and cheap classics are now unobtainium money
