You CAN use it well enough if you're smart with your Big Welcome and Compulse activations, but they clearly weren't.

You can only attack monsters up to the number of materials used. Not attacks in total
in the first Duel why u dont start with core ?
Core isn't guaranteed to end up in your starting hand all the time.
