Just in time to be one of the first 500 subscribers to the new channel. May all of our new years be happier and especially healthier. Thanks Mike for all that you do.
Good morning, Dallas; I thank you for stopping by as well as the comments. I was saddened to have to depart from the original channel. But the one constant in life is change. I look forward to another year's worth of Zephyr videos from the platform here. Have a great Thursday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, Chris; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. I agree whole-heartedly with you. Beats being cramped into an uncomfortable seating and all that goes with flying. The scenery is very viewable along the routes and nicer to see than from 32,000 ft. Have a great afternoon and evening. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, James; I thank you for stopping by along with the comments. That young lady who boarded was in a hurry to get back into some heat. I was doing just fine until the index fingers went numb. Had to really look and not feel what controls I as touching. And I was getting bored. LOL! Have a great evening up there. I hope that you and yours have a super New Year as well. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning, David; I thank you for dropping by along with the comments. I'm still waiting for the feeling to come back in my index fingers. But I am keeping the fingers wrapped around my coffee mug. Seems to be working. A nap later will cap off the day. Plenty of fireworks at midnight and after. Some were still being lit as I drove to the depot. Go figure. Anyway, have a great New Year's Day over there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon, Naomi; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. Have a great New Year's Day afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe@!
Good evening, Barry; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. It is still fun for me to be there and see the Zephyr arrive. I am happy there are others who share my joy of seeing these trains. Have a great evening and a wonderful New Year. Please take care and stay safe!
A very happy new year Mike.Although it's late afternoon & dark here I hope your day has been a good one for the 1st day of the new year. Not much going on with the train. Enjoy your evening & thank you for # 5.👋😉😊😎💥
Good evening, Carolyn; Thank for tuning in along with the comments. Other than being awakened a couple of times by fireworks and watching more fireworks being lit as I went to the depot it was a nice day. There wasn't too much going on with the Zephyr this morning. On mornings like this that was a good thing. Even the dogs were quiet for the most part. Have a great evening. Please take care and stay safe! 🤠👋👌👌👍
Good morning, John; Thanks for stopping by along with the comments. It is still all fun for me even with the trials and tribulations of last fall. That's all behind me and I am looking ahead to a good year of videos from the platform here. Have a great New Year's Day and beyond. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Leo; I thank you for looking in and the comments. I appreciate it. The only thing the cold gets to are my fingers. Seems to be the focal spot as I age for the cold to get to. But there are ways I have found to counteract the cold and having a killer heater in my pickup is just the start. I hope that you have a great New Year's Day. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning and thank you for dialing in on this New Year's Day. I appreciate it, Stephen. The fingers are warming, and the coffee is hot. I'll be back out there tomorrow for the second Zephyr #5 of 2025. Anyway. I hope you and yours have a great New Year's Day. Please take care and stat safe!
Good afternoon, Gary; Thank you for stopping by along with the comments. I appreciate it. Have a great afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Happy New Year Mike. A quiet first day of 2025, and quite cold there. Hope you got those cold fingers around a hot cup of coffee. Thanks, keep warm and well!
Good afternoon, Dan; I thank you for stopping by along with the comments. Yep. I wrapped them around a mug of hot coffee and turned it into a mug of ice. LOL! All fingers are now ok. And the coffee was reheated for drinking. It's now gone as well. Have a great New Year's Day up there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon and thank you for dropping by along with the comments. You are correct about the aging process. So far, it's just the fingers along with the rest of the body. LOL!! Looks to be a bit warmer tomorrow and the walk on the platform will still take place just to get everything loosened up. Have a great afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Chris; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. I appreciate it. I hope that you have a great New Year's Day. Please take care and stay safe!
Good New Year morning Mike, Quiet here right now. Thursday brings a clipper and some snow THEN on the weekend they ( you know "they" the weather people) are promising to deliver a big amount of snow. We have food, we have the car tank filled up. I have crochet hooks at the ready and Taffy will have snow balls in her fur. Winter is soon to be here. Stay warm, have a good day, thanks for the Zephyr.
Good afternoon, Ginny; I thank you for tuning in along with the comments. We didn't get any snow out here. Just a big blast of cold. The weather guessers have said "they" just report the weather, not make it. I think they are fibbing a bit. It's all a conspiracy again. LOL! I am with Taffy. Let me stay by the furnace register and only go when I have to. But stay out of my way when the Zephyr makes an approach on the depot here. LOL! I didn't bring the snow removal gear from the storage shed this year. That was in hopes of a bunch of snow here. As long as the mountains are getting the snow, I am happy. Anyway, it sounds as though you re well prepared back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe while having a great New Year's Day and beyond!
Good morning Mike & Happy New Year from 40 mid Tenn. That's the high for day as well. Your temp causes one to wonder if there is going to be enough coffee to do the job.
Good morning, Ben; Thanks for tuning in and the comments. You are warmer than here. Maybe tomorrow we will reach 40. The coffee held out just long enough. Fingers and other extremities are back to warm. May have to perk another pot for this afternoon though. But that will not go well with a planned siesta. Anyway, have a great New Year's Day back there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, Keith; I thank you for dropping by and the comment. I appreciate it. Have a great New Year's Day and beyond. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Thomas; Thanks for dropping by and the comments. I am sure they won't get slowed down after making the Moffat Tunnel. Last I saw there was some snow over there. Hope that the high country gets a bunch more. Have a great New Year's Day over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Paul; Thank you for dropping by and the comments. I appreciate it. Hope the new year holds wonderful blessings for you and yours. Please take care and stay safe!
Happy New Year Mike i wish you a very healthy year ahead. thanks for being out here everyday to catch #5 sometimes #6 and even a coal train now and then. have a great day watch some football. was glad to see the Nittany lions win yesterday
Good afternoon, Ken; I thank you for dialing in and the comments today. My health is the big thing. All the other is just the gravy and dessert. As long as I can make my morning walk before the Zephyr gets here, all is good. I am done with the football for this season. Had enough of the whinners and teleporting wusses. Nothing but money and agents. It's now down to the high school level. I have to wait another day for more of the Avalanche Hocky. They did win last night. I hope that you have a great New Year's Day afternoon and evening. Please take care, stay warm, and safe back there.
Yeah happy New Year Mike I'm glad to see your channel. I had a quiet new years. Stayed up a little later. You know it's going to start getting cold around here now. For the next several days it's going to be seasonal like in the twenties.
Good morning, Robert; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. Nice to read I wasn't the only one with a nice, quiet New Year's Eve. I was awakened to the sound of fireworks at midnight and then again around 0200 and then caught some being lit as I went to the depot to catch #5. Some people just can't give it up. LOL! I think that you will have your fill of the really cold air back there. I've had enough for this season. Hope that you have a great New Year's Day afternoon and evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good morning to you, and to a new year, too. Wisely, no hangover for you (or me). For a minute there, I thought the Zephyr was going to be stopping a looong way down the platform, but no. It was brought up short. It certainly had the markings of a 'Ric-paced' arrival.
Good morning, Paul; Thank you for tuning in along with the comments. Yep. I was checking my eyelids for light leaks long before midnight here. The local revelers did set off plenty of fireworks at midnight and beyond. Some were still being lit as I drove to the Depot. LOL! I am unsure why that crew wants to stop short other than they don't want to put up with the camera guy. Several people headed to work were caught by the gates still activated and down on Main St. as it was half blocked by the Zephyr. As for who was in the cab, I am unsure anymore. But that did have a remarkable feel of Ric and his training. Hope that you have a great New Year's Day over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Hi Mike Happy New Year and thanks for the catch of #5 this morning. I remember when I was younger all the resolutions made on January 1st. Now at 70 my wish is to stay healthy and to make 2026. You have a great day, enjoy all the football and stay safe.
@@tomulanowski3195 Good morning, Tom; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. New year resolutions? Just so much to break. Like you I am in my mid-70s, and good health is the most important thing I can work at for the next year. All else seems to be gravy anymore. I hope that you and yours have a great New Year's Day. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike. Happy New Year. First train of the new year. Nice video. Nice to see it on time. My afternoon is tied up watching The Rose Bowl. Wife’s team playing. Ohio state. Have a great day.
Good morning, Gerald; I thank you for tuning in and the comments. I was caught off guard as they were actually making up time coming west from McCook, NE. There are a couple of slow orders out there that seem to knock them down a bit. Maybe a good sign for the new year. I think I see a nap in my future for today. I may check in on the games, but I am "Footballed" out. Just not enthused about college football anymore with the "transfer portal hooey". And then players sitting out games because the hangnail on their left pinky may get hurt. The NFL has ruined a lot over the past couple of years. It all needs to quit. Ok. I'm off the soapbox. Anyway. Have a great New Year's Day down there. Please take care and stay safe while rooting for the Toledo Game-hens or whoever.
Happy New Year Mike! It’s 21 degrees here in southeast Iowa this morning and should be 31 degrees later today! The rain and snow moved on into northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana by around 3 PM yesterday! Just clear and chilly here now. Tomorrow will bring snow chances for us in the Heartland. Not more than an inch or so predicted for us at this time. Have a great New Year out your way Sir! I am here! Mark in Iowa! Go get warm! Mark.
Good morning, Mark; Thank you for stopping by as well as the comments. No moisture here beyond what accumulated on the pickup hood and windshield. Too low of humidity right now. At least the mountains are getting a bit of snow to the tune of an inch or so. Great for the ski resorts and spring melt run-off. Possible that a flake or two may be seen later toward the weekend. I am not holding my breath on that. LOL! Have a great New Year's Day back there. Please take care. stay warm and safe!
Good afternoon, Kenny; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. I appreciate it. Hope that you new year is a great one as well. Plese take care and stay safe!
Happy New Year, Mike! I have had a hard time finding you on your new channel. I think I was lucky today. Hopefully I'll remember what I did. Anyway, hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you a great 2025!!
Good afternoon, Pamela; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. You did find it! I thank you for switching over. It has been a very nice holiday season. Lots of good friends and great food. I hope that yours was the same. And I hope the very best for you and yours in the new year. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Happy New Year, Mike. Back in the ice box again, but we're going to join you this week. Have to wrap the lemon tree. You're gonna have to double up on the gloves- can't have those fingers getting cold. Best wishes for Health & Happiness in 2025.
Good afternoon, Jim; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. Your lemon tree is going to get spoiled. LOL! Hope that it stays healthy thru all of the weather. It was just my index fingertips that got numb. THeu came back around after I got the PU started and the heater moving air. The heat packs have really been a God send in my mittens. I go thru a pair daily. As I have aged, the fingers are not staying as warm as they once did. I have found that mittens work better to keep the fingers warm and not isolated from each other as gloves do. A bit more awkward but workable. Have a great New Year's Day back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
7 and half minute video plus prep time to set up camera etc. long time to be out in that kind of cold ... that is the kind of thing where you begin to lose feeling in fingers and toes! But you do it anyway to provide these videos as a way to start the day ... Want to extend to you my best wishes for this new year and tell you how much I have aprreciated our conversations over this past year. I have learned a great deal of what life is like in Fort Morgan, a place I had never heard of prior to finding these videos. We, no doubt, are different in many ways, but what we share in common is that experience in the Navy at approximately the same time. The experiences you have shared about your military career have been quite remarkable. There are many importqnt rates in the Navy, but Damage Control must be near the top in terms of practical importance. Lots of things can go wrong out at sea, and the DC guys are the first to get the call during General Quarters. As a Corpsman, I spent much of my time on the Green side, Viet Nam war and all, but did spend some time at a Naval Training Center attached to the Recruit Training Command, sadly, a place that no longer exists, except in my memory. The Navy gave me a chance to make a difference, and I will be forever grateful. Someday we are going to continue the conversation in person over a cup of coffee, but not when the temps are below freezing! Take care, stay warm ... try to get the circulation back into those fingers! Ted
Good morning, Ted; Happy New Year and thank you for stopping by along with the comments. The fingers are back to normal thanks to the heat packs in the mittens and a hot mug of coffee. Having a killer heater in the pickup helped a lot as well. The rest of me did just fine and with the limited time of just standing nothing got really bad. I did get my morning walk in before the Zephyr got here and that helped keep the blood circulating. I have noticed that my fingers get cold faster now than in years prior. I am sure that is true with many of un in the 70ish age bracket. As for being a DC man way back when, that was not my choice but I as happy to stay in that rating. Then Adm. Zumwalt started the "Hull Technician" rate by combining the shopfitters/pipefitters and Damage controlmen into one rating. It was too much for one person to learn all that was needed to be useful aboard ship. In 1986, the powers that were split the rating in two with the Hull Techs and Damage Controlmen. I reverted to DC and didn't look back. But that's years past. I'd do it again only with the folks I served with the first time. The USS Farragut Ships' Association is holding out biennial reunion in New Orleans this coming September. I have reserved a room and am now making plans for the train ride to and from NOLA. It may be more time on the trains than at the reunion. OK by me! LOL! I have utmost respect for the corpsmen. I've been fortunate to have served with many in some not too enjoyable circumstances. Anyway, we'll have to work something out to have that cup of coffee together somewhere. Until then, I hope that you and yours have a great New Year's Day and beyond. Please take care and stay safe out there!
I am happy that you did find it. I had offered that search topic to several, yet they found using the channel name worked as well. Thanks for dialing in and the comments. Please take care and stay safe! And welcome!
Good morning, Ric-Rac_Mankato; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. I appreciate it. The new year was off to a good start with an early #5 today. I think the crew wanted to get home and celebrate with some shuteye. I feel a nap coming on in a little bit. LOL! Have a great New Year's Day up there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good morning and thank you for stopping by along with the comments. I appreciate it. I hope that you have a great day in Argentina! Please take care and stay safe!
Hello Mike-I was hoping a New Year not so crime but just saw the New Orleans story; just why? We’re gonna be in the 40s for the rest of the week. Gonna take a few days to write 25 on things. TY for 5.
Good morning, Cheryl; Thank you for stopping by along with the comments. I did read a news item about the 10 killed in NOLA. Not the way to start the New Year anywhere. I am planning on heading there in September and don't need all of those type of items popping up. Bad enough it is in the heart of hurricane season. Oh well. The train trip (yet to be worked out) will be worth it. I'd take those 40s you will have down there. I've been spoiled by the temps we have had here. The lack of moisture isn't too bad yet. Anyway, have a great New Year's Day down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Aaron & Shannon; Thanks for looking in and the comment. I appreciate it. Have a great New Yer's Day over there. Plese take care and stay safe!

Please take care and stay safe while rooting for the Toledo Game-hens or whoever.
Happy New Year Mike!
Good morning, Cincinnatikid; Thanks for looking in and the comment. I appreciate it!
Have a great New Year's Day.
Plese take care and stay safe
Happy New Year Mike. have a great 2025.

@Mikeinmorgan 👍
A bit difficult finding the new channel, did California Zephyr Fort Morgan search and found it
I am happy that you did find it. I had offered that search topic to several, yet they found using the channel name worked as well. Thanks for dialing in and the comments.
Please take care and stay safe! And welcome!
Happy 2025 Mike first day of videoing complete 364 more early mornings to go
Good morning, Ric-Rac_Mankato; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. I appreciate it. The new year was off to a good start with an early #5 today. I think the crew wanted to get home and celebrate with some shuteye. I feel a nap coming on in a little bit. LOL!
Have a great New Year's Day up there. Plese take care and stay safe!

Happy New Year Mike!!
Good morning, Aaron & Shannon; Thanks for looking in and the comment. I appreciate it. Have a great New Yer's Day over there.
Plese take care and stay safe!
