They are not a proper shredder. They just tear stuff of, if it is thin enough.
It's a volvo which would have the 5 cylinder engine which is capable of wearing out 3 cars it would have been too good to leave in

@@kennorcott7074 I said it wouldn't be as bad if it was actually entertaining. This is just throwing a car in a shredder, not Clarkson in a Mazda CX-5 turning a caravan into literally nothing. I will always laugh when I remember the result of that and May's reaction. Also watching it again the camera crew is far worse and no wonder, they all went to film The Grand Tour and I do not blame them.

Believe it or not old top gear used fake canned laughter as well. Apparently it was very awkward when they made jokes and no one really laughed so they added it in to seem more fluid. But Matt’s actual laugh was arguably just as fake and forced.

Volvo is a good car. And you crushed it. Jeremy Clarkson liked first generation S60R. And bought it and Mr2 XC90. Old Top Gear was huge better than this.

You can see the shredding discs jam and stop multiple times at the last second of the multiple camera cuts. They probably had to stop the shoot dozens of times and clear jams to piece together all these clips into a single segment to make it appear that it could shred the car.

I’ll be honest: I never thought that car was going to make it trough it. That is a powerful machine.
Would have been interesting if they had kept the car intact. Engine blocks are a bit tougher than sheet metal.
It wouldn't, no way in hell, If it shredded cars that easy, scrap yards would be queing up to buy them.
I've repaired these after it has shit itself on a small rock, when it's been overloaded or when the clever customer thinks he can spread silage bales.
Broken shear bolts, twisted PTO shafts, dislodged chains the list goes on.
A lot of the time, these machine are out of their depth doing what they are supposed to do.

It's because the spinning things the augers stopped occasionally and they had to reverse the machine to get the car to go through again and that would have looked shit, so they didn't show that.
Felix Hobbs these things are shaft driven, load protection is through a shearbolt, if something got stuck in it it would take a hell of alot more to get it out than backing the floor up.

I have an volvo v40 1.8 t4 with 147kw from 1999 and has badass subs in the back... And I love it... I can't understand people who do such things... Volvos do have style like the s70 they crashed... Those aren't so cheap...
