Don't forget how playfull they are. If you hear her voice dialog on the character profile page of the game, Traveler is a very playfull, quick witted talker, fooling around with Paimon every time they can. The voice acting there also show us that Lumine (as is the one I have so is the the one I can hear) is a very proper girl most of the time, but can get really excited and childish very fast, just like Hu Tao.

What Traveler are you talking about? I only see a normal, completely unsuspicious, Fatui officer and their floating emergency food companion.

The Traveller's reckless personality and not caring about they're own well being might originate from the fact that they're a celestial being, without being able to be touched previously with they're godly power. They might not be accustomed to being powerless or even die in a sense.
I agree with that take!!! If theyve lived for so long and theyre used to being basically immortal or a fleeting presence, i get why theyd be so unused to mortal concepts of maybeee not being at full 100%, kinda like zhongli and venti. Not to say theyre ignorant of course ! But great observation :o
It could also be that the Traveller's experiences from travelling through other worlds made them genre savvy to an extent so they know, or at least have a general idea of, how certain encounters go. It is exemplified by the fact that despite seeming to be reckless, they do know which encounters or events they need to take seriously. The Traveller also seem to know an "Ex Machina" when they see it and apparently have had enough experience to just accept it without question. Immortals after all can practically compile an infinite amount of experience under their belt...

Or maybe it's because of them having been used to fighting alongside their other half. When one got used to having another cover their blindspot, they tend to be more daring as they believe they have no opening. But now that there's a hole in their defense, having three other characters work with them makes up to it a bit as the impact of their loss feels so huge.

At first, the traveler straight up refuses to help with the vision hunt decree. Clearly the traveler has a personality of its own.
The traveler is/are neutral entity. His journey is all about reuniting his sister.

Rather than refusing to help because of impatient, i think it more like mc dont want to make enemy of archon, think about it if you put in the shoes of mc..
You come into a closed nation to find your brother/family, you want to meet an official for asking question and help, and one person saying they will help you meet the official if you help them and join a resistance army that basicly view as terrorist by the nation (remember MC doesnt know what happen to vision bearer if they lost the vision yet)
Me to will refuse to help without a solid reasoning, now MC know what happen to vision bearer that lost their vision, and agree to help, mc is kind hearted by nature, will help people in distress, but doesnt mean mc are stupid enough to be led by anyone without a good reason

I've always believed that the reason for why the traveler is so helpful is because of the saying, "Do good deeds and it will returns to you" or something like that, but when he/she had been- um- betrayed (?) by the two first nations and his/her sibling has left them in the "We Will Be Reunited" quest. He/she decided to be not used anymore and to speed up his/her journey to find the truth. Just my own theory tho...
i love this, ive always seen the traveller as a curious and easygoing one, but it seems like theyre slowly changing after the we will be reunited quest. at the inazuma archon quest, it felt like lumine (the twin i picked) was getting impatient, and started refusing helping others but ended up doing it. it was a change worth noticing.

@@erick2328 I agree! I feel like the mc is naturally charismatic and definitely knows what courses of actions will have dire consequences. I feel like Lumi and Aeth as travelers would definitely have to do their best to be on the good side of whatever world they travelled to. I definitely agree with this perspective ! they're kind but wise.

Plot twist: the other twin is in the middle of a huge commission quest for Khan'ria, gotta get those primos somehow. Gacha is a cruel and unforgiving mistress, the other twin just wants to escape the curse of losing 50/50 for all these years.

@@kashu8774 the traveler manipulates the elements by themselves im pretty sure, since someone (can’t remember who) said: “so you can manipulate the elements huh?” Or something like that, I’d doubt it would be paimon tho!

@@truth1095 You have a point but for me, that statement is not enough. Unless it was from Albedo or Lisa, I would put that statement as an outside perspective. It’s something that they see not understand. I still believe that there is a chance Paimon is the reason why the traveller can use the elements.
A lot of people forget that the traveller has a plethora of dialogues in their character screen. Granted most of them are teasing paimon, which shows more of his smug attitude, but also gives insight to they see certain characters. They are also a bit of a hoarder, as proven by the hundreds of materials in our backpacks as well as that scene in Xiao's story quest where they actually kept the mask that Diluc gave them to hide their identities a long time ago.
It's interesting because I feel like you can definitely tell which characters the traveler likes more

The face the traveler makes when asked to deliver a letter is currently my favorite Genshin meme. Traveler is so tired of being an errand girl/boy, and they're starting to show it lol my bf has an account with Aether (both I and his main account play Lumine), and he noted how differently a lot of the same dialogue options come across from each twin, kinda like how their fighting styles have different feels; Aether, like his fighting, comes off as blunt and brutal, almost, with a feeling of strength behind his comebacks, whereas Lumine comes across as elegant and graceful, yet witty. They're both humorous, and despite both saying the same thing, the underlying feeling behind their humorous answers is very different between the two. My bf has even stopped in the early story and told me, "Aether's kind of a smartass, ngl" while laughing. Both twins have such seemingly defined personalities while being quite silent, to the point that even selecting the same dialogue options somehow can't mask them.
Also, I'd heard that both twins are confirmed canonically the traveler, so both sets of these analyses are interchangeable for the twins depending on who the player chose as their MC.

Meh. I am the best me. I'm generally a go along with the flow kinda guy and prefer to have good relations with people. But I can speak up when I have to. I don't really like too much attention, so if given the choice I'll just not speak.
The Traveler is probably the most mysterious playable character of Genshin. You literally have access to only 2 of their Character Stories.
And now that I think of it, what in the world is the sort of mini-galaxy the twins summon in one of their idle animations???
Is it some sort of residue of their original power?
Idk it just bugged me ever since I've seen it.
I feel that if we lean into the narrative that they seek knowledge, it has something to do with archives. It shares the same motif when you look up stuff like monster details and item descriptions and gameplay tips. It’s that menu where you can see various information about the game.
They’re so mysterious that the whole of Teyvat aren’t actually aware of their actual name: insert OUR nicknames of which they refer us to). Only when we meet our twin do they call us by the traveller’s actual name👀👀
Ngl I’m wondering where our sword went. Our evil abyss twin still has theres, but where is ours? Also, where in the world did the unknown god go? And why did she feel the need to separate us from our twin? How did we travel from world to world? What were those cool wings and powers we had in the opening cutscene? Anyways, great video! Somehow I woke up at this time 😣. Oh and also, as someone who plays as lumine I have thought her personality would kinda be a little cold and blunt, just doing what needs to be done. I have noticed her attacks don’t put that much effort into them like aethers.
If i had to make a guess, the sword that the abyss sibling has is what we get when we unlock a certain level of our power !! For the unknown god i feel like we will meet her when we go to celestia or smth but as for her motivations no clue why she would d send one the pastt.
Also.I just realized how sad it actually is that one of the reasons that twins are natural gliders is because they had wings 😫😫
also i superrr agree for lumine her attack animations have less umph to complement aether's more brash animation style !
It's could just be the dull sword that we uses in cutscenes since the MC losses their full power so does the sword also loses it shape since the sword is projection of sort.
The others doesn't because they still somewhat have their older power.

hi! i have a theory :DD,
well it has been a noise in the theorycrafting part of the fandom (and the MiHoYo games fans who knows both Genshin and Honkai) that unknown god and honkai impact 3rd's herrscher of the void have pretty uncanny resemblances in both appearances and power display. they even have the same hair side-cowlick(?) at their right side, and cubes.
as the name suggests, the herrscher has dominion over the void, can manipulate spacetime as i saw from the wiki, as far as i have seen, it looks like a different dimension to me, so i theorize that its in a void somewhere because the cubes engulfed our sword, which made our chosen mc to back away from the unknown god, and then it disappeared. mc tried to use his pure power with no channels but their body to try and defeat the unknown god but the cubes had only engulfed those too, i'm speculating that we will find a spacetime tear somewhere away from the borders of teyvat (see the description lore of aerosiderites, a weapon ascension material)
and to speculate on where the unknown god resides since celestia is in shambles and heavily tilted, maybe it's beyond the "other-shore" as mention in the aerosiderite lore, i mean, it is mentioned a lot of times that teyvat is continent and there is an unexplored other-shore, which corresponds to the timeline genshin is gunning for the current regions from real world counterparts,
it might be inspired (inspired, not meant to accurately represent certain things) by the time before certain people decided the earth wasn't flat and thus they will not fall off the other side so they explored.
i went on a tangent but those are the possibilities and whatever my easily distracted brain wanted to add, sorry for a **very** lengthy reply 😅
The unknown god took it in the opening cutscene.
It genuinely caught me off guard when we found out that Aether had done research on khaenri'ah off screen. And then it caught me even MORE off guard when Aether said no to Thoma and Ayaka when asked to help the resistance. A blank slate main character would not do either of these things.

Also non-story related commissions allow you to just outright deny help. It's just that those NPC will stand their and wait until you change their mind. It's not like the traveler always decides to help if they don't think you need to. And as the story progress, the traveler clearly gets exasperated with some of the constant requests (especially the dumb ones).
They often go "let me guess, its a commission' when Katheryn inevitable calls them over in event and story quests. Likewise, one Mondstadt commission allow Traveler to say like "isn't this your fault?" and just demand the compensation money after it is over.
I saw this theory about the twins somewhere, that the twins were asleep during the archon war and lumine woke up way before aether (bc in we will be reunited paimon asks lumine "well how long before u did ur sister wake up?" hinting that lumine might have been in teyvat for wayyyyy longer than aether.) she had found khanreah and the people took her in as their leader/god-like figure. but the celestial gods were offended that they took an outlander in and didn't accept an archon, so they began the destruction of khanreah. that's when lumine finally woke up aether, and told him that khanreah is in danger and they tried to escape. the unknown god came between them and separated them, putting aether 500 years ahead of lumine. maybe then lumine found dainsleif and the abyss, and together regained her powers and found out the truth of the world. maybe she is on a mission to bring down celestia now for what they did to her, and khanreah. and maybe the unknown god put aether 500 years ahead, when everything is all cute and wholesome, so that aether meets and sees the good side of the gods and is against the abyss. the celestial gods thought of aether as their key to victory against lumine so they set him up like that through the unknown god and took away his powers so that he doesnt go against them. I think the unknown god is the god of time or something, who saw the future and decided the best timelines to put the siblings into. i also personally think paimon is related to the unknown god somehow, either she is her or one of her minions or something, bc of the whole frozen menu screen and only paimon moves. also paimons celestia looking outfit. i think the unknown god sent paimon to aether so that aether turns out to be on the gods' side.
this is actually interesting, and if that theory turns out to be the case in the future plot then what 👁👄👁
I feel sed that not many people appreciate genshin lore.. They only cares about wifus and husbandos
Aesthetic, lore, personality and compelling gameplay are elements of a good character ! i guess some people just prefer aesthetics but i do agree that a whole chunk of character disappears when their lore is neglected

@@obito3574 Honestly though, I personally find it incredibly boring when they try to summarize the lore through dialogue texts, (specially some of the lore of Liyue), so when I want to know something about the game's lore, I try to research myself, and well, I found this great video and channel aswell.
I just think that miHoYo could provide the lore of the game through a different and more efficient way. (like cinematics, not necessarily as high quality as the cinematics of the game)
@@fanboy1148 seems reasonable.. Who knows maybe mihoyo will do it in the future.. Or mihoyo wants it's game to be complex Lorewise so people can invest their time into researching it like in real life 😆

This isn't really related to their personalities, but I'd also like to add that the twins' fighting styles compliment each other, like they really are each other's halves. You can search up a video of it on UA-cam, it's really beautiful (in that they are two halves of a whole but that makes their separation even sadder, or at least to me anyway). They're like opposites, and if that's the case, then because they're opposites, they are stronger/at full power together. I always thought it was obvious what with their opposite color schemes (Aether wears black and gold, Lumine wears white and blue). Because of the opposite color schemes, Aether reminded me of the sun and Lumine reminded me of the moon (which made me think there was a connection between them and "Eclipse". The Traveler has a voice line about it when mentioning the hilichurl eclipse tribe, and an eclipse, in simple terms, is when the sun and moon are basically one). Oh and it also shows in their fighting styles: Aether's style is showy and strong, or aggressive, like the sun, and Lumine's style is more graceful and calm, like the moon. They both have blond hair but Aether's hair is more vibrant and gold, while Lumine's is pale and soft (but still bright). Their base stats are opposite too: Aether focuses more on defense, and Lumine focuses more on attack. One other thing is their swords: In the beginning cutscene of the game where they're fighting the Unknown God, the twins pull out their swords. The swords are both white and gold but if you look closer there's a very obvious difference between them, which is their guards. Aether's guard is a cross guard (which reminded me of a four-pointed star, meaning the sun) and Lumine's guard is a crescent guard (which reminded me of a crescent moon). Another thing I'd like to add is that I always thought they were stars (if we're talking about "what" they are). They travel to different worlds, and maybe to the spaces between worlds as well (their constellation names are the Latin male and female names for "traveler"), and in the cutscene at the beginning of the game, the Traveler shows Paimon how they arrived by drawing shooting stars in the sand (the cutscene actually shows the two shooting stars flying over the Anemo Archon's statue in Mondstadt, and the area where you begin the game is coincidentally called "Starfell Valley"). The gacha system obviously reminds me of stars too. You get new characters by "wishing" on a star. Their names are also related to stars. Lumine means "light" and Aether means "sky" or "void", which irl, is the celestial domain for stars. In the first archon quest, the Traveler is able to purify Dvalin's tears, and thus also purify/fix Venti's lyre, and THEN purifies Dvalin himself. Dvalin's Claw, which is a level-up material, says in it's description "thanks to your purification and healing" it's not toxic anymore. In the second archon quest (Chapter 1), when everyone is fighting Osial, the Traveler is able to carry the adepti powers temporarily given to them by the adepti in human forms (as far as I know they don't got any other forms). And, as you or someone else mentioned in another video, Xiao's "karmic debt", does not affect the traveler; in fact, they actually lessen (or purify) his "affliction", so to speak. Likewise, in Albedo's story quest, the traveler is the only one who can hold the sword. Also, both Albedo and Kazuha mention that the traveler reminds them of the stars. Albedo says that the Traveler has the aura of stars, and Kazuha says that the Traveler's scent is like that of the stars. And another, one of the Traveler's idle animations has them summoning what looks like constellations. Last but not least, the Wings of Descension, a glider that is given specifically to PS players, mentions in its lore that the Travelers have "seen the births and deaths of stars", which could possibly pertain to their age, and if that's so, then this means they are probably billions of years old (unless they were simply traveling at the speed of light and just passed by a bunch of stars either coming to life or dying, in which case my last point means nil). In short, they might be stars, or gods of the universe/multiverse, instead of one world/planet, like Archons and Gods of Celestia. In any case, I do believe for now that they are higher-beings of some sort. Okay, this got a lot longer than I meant for it to, but these are all my "theories", I guess. Hope you enjoyed. Edit: Lol, in one of Raiden's/Ei's voice lines, she mentions shooting stars and the traveler says they used to be one of them
fun fact, lumine has a higher charged attack scaling than Aether, she also seems to have easier control of her elemental powers as showcased in her animations ( aether holds his arm while lumine does it effortlessly )
Hmm, it dose shows that their base stats. Like how Lumine's attack scores is higher than Arther's attack but his defense stats is higher than Lumine's.
I remember seeing in a post that between the two twins, Lumine is the dps and Aether is the support. Aether’s job is to allow Lumine to pop off at the enemies weak points, and defend any of her weak points. Aether is also the older sibling between the two, so you can see that it’s fit that Aether only wishes to protect his little sister.

@@splash2866 uhhh think about it this way, the more control you have the higher mastery. Like, riding a horse! The more control you have on the horse, the higher the mastery and experience! Hopefully this makes sense
Its really interesting to me that no matter which twin you choose, the outcome remains the same. There is obviously some dark secret to Tevyat in general, and I'm interested to find out why your opposing twin would join the abyss order. I think its quite obvious that your opposing twin knows something that you don't.
Spoilers Ahead:
Honestly I think the travelers personally is taking a change for the worst. He instantly refused to help with the vision hunt decree until he was convinced to help. But after accepting he went as far as fighting the riaden shougan even though he could have ran or teleported away and even though he has seen the shougan and got his element he went off and joined the resistance and faught in a battle that was started so the decree could capture him. Even though he said he would help with the decree he's risking his life to help out instead of delaying his assistance until he gets 1 or 2 more elements. I believe that the traveler is gonna get a massive wake up call when either he comes too close to death doing somthing risky or will die and one of the archons will have to revive him or somthing
He's definitely not 100% benevolent without being wise but rather someone that actively weighs out their options and will help those in need, and i think that's a great character development because we finally see him stretch out from the stereotypical rpg archetype
I mean, I don't blame him. He wanted to speak to the Raiden Shogun not join a rebellion the instant he showed up in Inazuma. And up until this point we haven't had concrete evidence that losing a vision could change a person so much.
Perhaps he had thought maybe Baal was something like Zhongli where he allowed an ancient god to be awoken to determine if the people of Liyue and the adepti could handle the threat without him. There is a side we just haven't seen yet.
I honestly don't believe that Baal is taking visions because 'they are a threat to her eternal rule' or 'only belong to the divine.' If any of these were the case, then why is the vision hunt degree only beginning now, or why even give out visions in the first place. There are questions only Baal can answer and the last thing you should do when you want answers is to be immediately hostile to them or call out their actions without understanding the situation.
Besides, I doubt anyone could have guessed just how out of control the situation had become in the span of time it did.
@@ChillwithAster I do agree with you but he just seems more miserable ever since his reunion with his sister. I don't know if it's just me but at the begining of the beaudo and kahuzah quest his expressions just seem off. And mihoyo is apparently known for making their games more depressing the further you go into them. I don't know if this is true but this is what I've heard from other theorists.
I think the reason they refused is probably because they got dragged into every little thing when the reason they even explored tevyat was to find their sibling. If i was them and forced to do this boring and long commissions and quests that i didn't ask for, I'd refuse too. But you have a point too
@@Ace-ob5rk Some of those could be considered player choice though, right? Really the only things required are commissions for AR level and story quests, you can ignore a majority of side quests/events and still continue with the story. However, I agree with Chill with Aster and Oofed 92 that he does seem off, mostly in his interactions with NPCs. Hard to come to terms with your sister's willingness to kill potentially millions in pursuit of revenge when she won't tell us what's going on. Maybe the thought that she didn't need saving and could have come to him at any time but refuses to do so is messing with his head more than he thought.
I agree with a lot of points regarding the MC's personality (aether here, lumine in my case), especially regarding his tendency to not shy from a challenge or a point of interest/curiosity. However to me, his willingness to help albedo for his studies was borne primarily because of the dealings with Durin's 'poisoned blood' and the curse/festering of dragonspine resulting from it. Having dealt with Dvalin's poisoning before, i think he felt he was the most qualified, in mondstadt at least, to investigate and deal with this situation.
As for lumine (or the abyssal twin), i agree that her experiences were implied to be more harsh and 'traumatic' so to speak. But i also think lumine had learned something about the nature of teyvat and the order of things to make her seem cold and resolute. Akin to a soldier having learned of the futility of war, and learning of the corruption of the very government that sent them, lumine was disillusioned with teyvat, and stuck with her sense of justice and decided to act on it. Whether or not this "injustice" is the same injustice the Bloodstained Chivalry set lore was referring to remains to be determined. But lumine learned and realised something while travelling teyvat. Something she thought even aether wouldn't believe even if she told him outright, so upon seeing aether for the first time again after hundreds (?) of years, instead of dropping everything and going with aether to go 'home', instead she asked aether to continue journeying to witness/realise this "injustice" for himself, in the hopes that he would join her in whatever she intends to do with leading the abyss. I get the feeling that the abyssal twin has a very strong sense of justice, and trusts her MC twin to share this mindset. But I'm also curious if this realisation is what drove a wedge between her and her travelling companion, dainsleif, or was it something else altogether..

If you haven't played the 2.0 story MC was constantly denying to help Ayaka or people who were against Baal. Why do you think he did that? Going against an arkon or entire region is much more risky or is he getting too greedy as he finally found Lumine and now his goal is shifted from finding her to something else.
I think he realised that the whole rebellion thing was way too risky and he only wanted to figure out what his sister meant by him completing his journey. That's at least what I think

the one thing I think would be really nice to know is why the travelers decide to travel world to world and what their home and language is like.
Aether knows a heck of a lot more than he is letting on. The intro led us to believe the twins had just got there, but in reality his sister traveled through the 7 nations while Aether slept. Aether only woke up around the time when khaenri'ah was being destroyed. I think aether and albedo understand who each other are, considering albedo is also very old, being a humunculus.
Maybe their twins are both clones. Since it's somehow similar to a humunculus.
Coming from the future, it’s revealed that the traveler actually slept twice, the abyss twin woke first, saw a bit of the world and witnessed a nation destroyed, then went back to the traveler hence the heavenly principles coming, the traveler sleeps again and THEN the twin has their journey
I absolutely love Traveler, they're so misunderstood(?) by the fandom and criminally underappreciated. I really love their personality, they have never left my team and I don't think they will anytime soon. Their voicelines with Paimon, the lore, everything! I mean.. do we really know who Traveler is? Where did they exactly come from? All we know is their personality, we don't even know how strong they actually are when they had their powers. What are they exactly? All I know is that they're immortals. And I also want to know why Traveler slept for 500 years while the other twin woke up much sooner than us if there's any reason behind it. I mean,, we slept for 500 years. That's extremely long. there doesn't have to be a real reason behind it, but there might be idk lol. Mystery aside, I love their expressions and personality in general. They know when to crack jokes and when to be serious and give advice(?) (Yk like in Chongyun's hangout event). I don't know how to pull my thoughts into words but I just really love Traveler!! Can't wait to know more about them and see how the story goes :)

I really enjoyed this vid, especially when you made the connection between The Traveller being similar in terms of silent protagonist to Joker who both had pre-defined personality, plus there's all the dialogue they have between them and Paimon, strange how people consider them a blank slate.
One thing I found interesting about about Albedo's character story was one of the answers we can give Rosaria about why we're seeking out Albedo is "to find the truth of this world" which resonates with what the Abyss sibling told us to find out on our journey. I wonder if Albedo's chapter Canonically takes place after the 'We will be reunited' quest.
Just realize that when you mention it. Btw, if I'm not mistaken Albedo quest is after 'We will be reunited' quest where the twins meet.
I also like how Lumine and Aether has different reactions to certain things, if you compare some of their voice lines you can even see some changes that shines more on their personalities.
The most mysterious character is not Kaeya, Klee and her mom, or even Albedo. For me, the most mysterious characters of all are the two that we meet the most, which are traveler and pie moan. How ironic

everyone calls aether's blunt refusal at the start of the 2.0 Archon Quests a "personality change" but i say that traveler was trying different approach since very clearly at the start of the Inazuma Chapter Prologue in 1.6, they explicitly state that they have a different goal in mind now, which is to go straight to the unknown god (and beat the hecc- ahem.) and get some Answers straight from them. also, at the topic of aether has a personality and great writing, the world quest in inazuma where you pay respects at the shrine three time everyday and it gives you an exquisite chest, when you talk to the samurai, there are cutscenes and dialogue choices that just kinda highlights aether's soft and emotional side, also i panicked at the end when the shrine tells you to look behind you-
ayaka story quest! in a ither episode of the traveler knows how to read the atmosphere because paimon just can't (the most iconic episode is venti's story quest where he asks paimon to fetch apples, i chose that because venti loves them i wanted to cheer him up okay-)
anyway you've either made it this far or skipped and now looking for a

Hey, on a totally unrelated subject Lumines name means “ light or shining” and aethers mean “ darkness, night, chaos”. I thought that was weird why aether is darkness and lumine is light. I mean they are opposites but isn’t AETHER supposed to be good? Why is he darkness? I always figured that aether would be kinda like the sun and lumine the moon but it’s the other way around. Also dainsleif means “dwarf, dead legacy” I thought this was cool 2.
I always always always loveeeee genshins naming conventions and i super duper agree that aether and lumine's name give so much 'hints' about them. My guess is that their designs are meant to be paralleled to each others ; lumine's battle animations are graceful and her overall design is bright and very flowy giving off the true vibe of an etheral being , yet her hair is short which normally for celestial deities in genshin, they have flowy hair. On the contrast aether has a darker palette to him with the brown so its a super good catch on the darkness aspect of him, and his animations are much brasher and tighter than lumi's, but his hair is the design of the "celestial flowy thingy" similar to zhong, baal, venti and even the unknown god. so if i had to make a guess, aether and lumine play off of eachothers contrasts in more ways than just naming conventions ! Great catch :D

Are you sure Lumine arrived to Teyvat during the Archon War? That was over 2000 years ago. I think it was actually destruction of Khaenri'ah 500 years ago
no telling, we know Khaenri'ah was destroyed 500 years ago and that our brother/sister woke up before us and told us about its destruction. then told us we should leave teyvat only to be stopped by the unknown goddess. us being sent back to teyvat and that our sibling was sent somewhere else.
Yeah I think that might be an error. But what she said still stays the same as lumine would still be woken up in a middle of khaenri'ah being destroyed which effected many other nations and was a time of war regardless.

Also I really appreciate you explaining that they aren't avatar characters for the player. Lumine and Aether aren't YOU, they are their own characters after all.
I think the biggest challenge for them in Inazuma (and later nations perhaps), is going to be learning that the journey is just as important as the destination. Because it's clearly obvious through their dialogue and actions, now that Traveler has found their Abyss Twin, they don't want to waste any more time and get to the end ASAP so they can reunite once more. But that isn't what the Abyss Twin wanted. They want Traveler to take their time and see everything Teyvat has to offer in order to gain complete understanding of this world.
That's why I think meeting Thoma, Ayaka and Yoimiya has been so good for them, the latter two especially. Ayaka and Yoimiya has given Traveler incredible positive experiences through their characters stories, and I like to think that Traveler's frustration and impatience is starting to fade a bit. Yes dear, those feelings are valid, and I'm glad you've started saying no when people ask for help when helping them is inconvenient for you, but right now there are more important things to focus on. Anyway I'm hoping they can manage to enjoy their journey, as it will end when it ends, and you can't rush that.
The traveler is honestly such a complex character and im glad mihoyo made them so complex ! great take on the story with ayaka and yoimiya tho im so excited to play their story quest !

not sure if this is true but I'm pretty sure the reason why traveller is silent bc he's not from teyvat which means he doesn't know the language and is learning from paimon which is why he speaks in short sentences (when he talks to lumie in the story quest, they probably spoke their own language)
Paimon understood and repeated what the abyss twin was saying, so they must have spoken in Teyvat's language (Dain understood too)

I was wondering if you could make an updated version of the travelers? It would be interesting to talk about who the Travelers really are, and how they relate to Gnosticism and possibly Ars Goetia (With Paimon symbolizing Lucifer’s Companion). Some others such as myself wonder who Aether and Lumine really are outside of their “Travelers traveling to other worlds”, and the etymology of Aether is the air outside of the terrestrial sphere/the air the Gods breathed, and Lumine meaning “Light, Luminous”. Maybe their names show what Scaramouche was talking about with the whole “The sky is fake” line and the unknown elements Light and Dark. Aether is also a deity: the God of Light and also had a sister. It’s a cool concept to talk about since we know little of the origins or the true meaning behind the Travelers.
I also want to mention the irony of Lumine’s name that Mihoyo decided to throw. Her name means “Light” but she’s known as the “Dark princess/Queen of the Abyss”.
One correction: Lumine was NOT around during the Archon war. She witnessed the Fall of Khaenri'ah 500 years ago, the war had ended 1500 years prior.

Thank-you! So many people miss out on the timeframe. (It can be confusing). The twins are much much older than 500 years. 500 years ago the cataclysm happened and Khaenri’ah fell, but the Travelers descended to Travat (300,400 600)? Years before those wars . Scaramouche tells the traveler that their twin lived with the Jester while he was a Royal Madge in Khaenri’ah before Khaenri’ah fell. Scaramouche also says he doesn’t know when the Traveler arrived or when they left. (Scaramouche is really old as well.) I also wonder if there has not been a great amount of mind manipulation on both twins. It is strange that when the twins are with Dainslief, they are constantly passing out, going into a trance, or falling unconscious. Then afterwards Dainslief asks them what they saw or what happened when they passed out. Dainslief is the Boughkeeper with access to Irmisul? Both the Jester and Dain are pure Khaenri’ah. The Jester has all sorts of spells and powers he can access. But to get back on the subject most of the characters in the game are older than 500 years old!
It's unusual that she has no colour in her elemental gem reaction.. the same as traveller does when they first arrive in Teyvat. It looks like shes not reacting with any elements at all from what we've seen of lumine. Maybe, shes rejecting them all, or any connection to the elements/archons. Aether achieves resonance through touching the archon statues.. and the power is granted to them via gnosis bestowed by celestia.. maybe shes avoiding using it. What could that mean if she knows whats going on and is avoiding it?

What if Paimon is an extension or a type of familiar of the the Unknown God, and what if she is actually the thing that is sealing the Traveler’s original powers?? I’m really interested in what Paimon is now!
We do know of an entity called the God of Time who was worshipped along with Barbatos (Venti) in Mondstadt. The phrase "Seeds of stories, brought by the wind and cultivated by time" is associated with them. However the God of Time disappeared and knowledge of them has seemingly been lost to time, with only scraps of info on them and relics of locations dedicated to the two remain in Mondstadt.
There are theories that Paimon is related to, or is, the God of Time. Or that perhaps the Unknown God is the missing God of Time, and/or that she and Paimon are one and the same person. Her jumper(?) bears the same triquetra symbol seen across Teyvat, her sleeves have shapes on them which are associated with Celestia, especially on Statues of the Seven and Skyfrost Nail, and her crown bears shapes seen on upgraded Statues of the Seven, while she herself is clearly celestial in nature. Either way, Paimon doesn't talk about her history much prior to being fished out of the lake, so I feel she may be amnesiac, which could be related to the God of Time's disappearence during the cataclysm. In Singleplayer, the game physically pauses with Paimon being the only entity moving with the menu open, and you can skip time using an option from that very same menu. Absolutely nobody recognises Paimon and a running gag is that they see her as a pixie, but few question who she actually is and seem to just accept her existence. We also know that a god can gain power through faith, and Paimon's childlike appearence and powerlessness could be indicative of being a god with no followers due to being forgotten.

I can tell you put a lot of thought and energy into this. Good work it turned out really good.
I only started Genshin recently but I love how clear it is that it's their experiences that are shaping who the travelers are. If you pick Aether, Lumine's the one who becomes cold to Teyvat. If you pick Lumine, it's Aether who becomes cold. It's a part of the gameplay, but you know that the Abyss traveler was/could have been just as caring about the people of Teyvat as the one who woke up 500 years later. At the same time, you know that the traveler you're playing as has the same capability to become the one behind the Abyss.
I think that's so interesting for the character development of the traveler because it makes me wonder what will it take for the traveler to become just like their sibling? As they travel the world will they become just as disillusioned as their sibling did? And if they don't, what was different about their journey? Because we know that either twin has the potential to be as cruel or as kind as the other.
i thought of some theory while i was having trouble sleeping. Its quite long and it also just some random thought so maybe it will change in the future. so it goes like this...
Aether and Lumine are actually khaen'riah's royalty (prince & princess). This is because why do they care about the destruction of khaen'riah eventhough they are an outlander. And in the we will be reunited trailers, we see lumine run in a collapsing castle corridor (probably their home) and devastated when watching her entire nation destroyed from her perspective. and this might actually before facing against the unknown god so aether also with lumine that time. The twins live's before khaen'riah destruction is probably more like confinement and being used to get the knowledge from otherworlds to improvise their nation. Thats why their knowledge regarding teyvat is almost none.
The twins have the powers to travel through world like the story describes. So the king use the power of the twin to sought the knowledge and technique from an advance world so that he can use it for his country advancement. Does'nt this remind you about the gnostic hymm story. The (khaen'riah) king ask the 1st heir (one of the twins) to get the pearl(knowledge) from the world of darkness(otherworld) but got corrupted(becoming used to the world and stayed there). So, the 2nd heir started his journey to bring back both the pearl and the 1st heir(probably?). Its actually the story about the twins live in khaen'riah and their duty.
Now regarding the nations destruction, it was probably cause by Dainsleif. This is because he was a royal guard from khaen'riah and most likely the twin guardians. He's actually cares about both of the twins and hopes the best for them. He might heard or over heard some bad news regarding khaen'riah secrets (to destroy celestia, conquering teyvats, taking the twins power by killing/experimenting on them, killing all gods, or all of the above?). So, he betrays them by telling one of the archon (zhongli) and spark the war of khaen'riah. This happen when the twins are on their travels and only return to the nation destruction. And thats why the twin have to escape from their hometown to find a new "home".
thus, we come to the point where the twins fight against the unknown gods. both of them got captured and have their powers taken by the unknown god(likely). Both of them were probably separated on different land but lumine (i'll consider her as the villain in this theory) wakes up first by the help of Dainsleif power(with some sort of magic). So she travel all the seven nation to find about the truth about khaen'riah and regain some of her power. one of em is that Dainsleif is a traitor. She find some of khaen'riahs people and then form the abyss order.
i guess thats about it. sorry for both the long paragraph and bad english. theres probably a lot of hole in the theory but i just want to let it out. Again sorry and thank you for reading this.

Actually, I don't think he did research into Kharienneh until after the "We will be reunited" because he said he witnessed the destruction of the country. And it doesn't seem like went to find more information about it until Zhongli's quest.
IIRC, in the story where the ball was dropped in 1.,4, Paimon said "You must've been flipping through all sorts of books during our adventure these past months", specifically before going to Mond and before going to Liyue : "Before going to mondstadt, you had just looked at some vague materials, later, we managed to gather a whole bunch of books from all around Mondstadt and Liyue, but you told Paimon they were useless." So the Traveler already did their research after they woke up.

I think one of the most important additions in the last year or so was the bizarre way the Traveler immediately reacts to the sense of deja vu in the Sabzeruz festival. It's really very very clever and was never really followed up on in game. As soon as they get a few feelings of deja vu they drop everything, apologize for leaving Nilou, and rush to the restaurant where they previously talked with Paimon about how horrible sounding a particular coconut based dish was. Though they have never ordered this dish before they immediately order it and then use it's taste as an estimate of how many times they have eaten it before, deducing that they must have eaten it several times to get used to the dish, but clearly have no memory of it.
Clearly this protocol is so detailed that it must be something they have trained for. It feels like "Oh right we're in a situation like this so I better initiate my Deja Vu protocol. "Now what is the most disgusting thing around here that I'd never normally do/eat? OK now I have to do that thing. OK now I have a sense of how often I've done it and adapted, but subsequently forgotten. Yes this is 100% a deja vu situation and the number of cycles is probably around the order of a few dozen".
Easily the weirdest behaviour ever by Traveler and quite telling I think. Like "oh this stuff is normal for me".

from what i know aether has nerfed stamina while lumine does not and i don’t think it makes sense for that to be the case i hope mihoyo fixes aether stamina to match his sister although that’s not why i didn’t pick him i just usually pick the character that is the same gender as me if i have the option to

And also in the Inazuma Quest(I get that this video was made before it was released), we get to notice that the Traveler doesn't like to take sides, at least not until he knows more about what they're fighting for. Maybe this has to do with meeting their sibling again? But in the Liyue Quest, the Traveler wanted to leave, because they didn't want to seem suspicious or get involved. So perhaps meeting their sibling again just reinforced that part of their personality? Just a speculation.
My theory is that Aether and Lumine are (one of) the “ultimate” gods because, they can travel through worlds and can beat anyone considering we are playing as them in the game.

I see the Traveller as Nerevarine from Morrowind. Someone who helps but its kept in the dark from everything that is going on.
In Morrowind you know little about what is happening in the background and only one character, or two, knows of your true power. One of these characters refuses to fight you because he knows he will never win.
I think the Twins are the Characters which Lore people dont think about the most. As you said we might be under the Impression we know everything about them. I myself was very surprised when in our Dialoge with Dainsleif it was revealed that we experienced waking up and seeing Kaenria before meeting the unknown God. I wonder what else we have yet to discover...

I also noticed that traveler isn't interested on the problems of each nation at the beginning but when the people are in danger they do whatever is needed to protect them.
yes but my theory is that once we have seen all the seven towns,traveller will unseal his powers or something.
