What is D60, D30, D10 - Soil Grading

In this video it is explaied about soil particals distribution. D60, D30, and D10 grading. D60 means that 60 percent soil particlas having size less then 30mm will pass through 30mm sieve, (please note sieve sizes can be diffenet in some cases) which means out of 100 percent 60 percent soil particles passes through the sieve and 40 percent soil particles will remain on the surface of sieve. similarly D30 and D10 grading. Soil grading is an imporenet test in soil mechanics and can be carry out before any soil work.
