  • "This morning, I compared cold bloom vs. hot bloom, and there was definitely a difference in taste. If you haven't tried this method yet, I encourage you to give it a try at home."

I’ve been practicing samo bloom for a month now. And often times it taste sweeter and produce pleasant aroma for the coffee.
I use clever dripper and aeropress
    1. Samo bloom with water twice the coffee weight for 30-60 seconds.
    2. And then immersed the coffee with water up to to 1:10-11 ratio (including the blooming) for 2-3 minutes (for aeropress) and 3-5 minutes (for clever dripper, and dont forget to close lid). Drip into server.
    3. Sometimes in clever dripper, i tried to percolate with water the same weight as the coffee ground after step 2, because i’m afraid that it not extract well. but there’s no significant change in my opinion. So you could skip this. But Try and see what you guys think
    4. After that i pour into a glass and add hot water or ice until the prefered ratio.
The great part about this is you could make ice and hot coffee at the same batch. Also the taste almost never dissapoints.
    What you guys think?

I did it this morning at 60c, after watching Lance video last night. It was an interesting outcome, still have to play with it a bit more. Also, as someone with just 1 kettle, I had to wait 2 minutes on the bloom, however that to me isn't an issue

Higher temps dissolve the sugar like compounds-sweeter, malty, chocolatey, but temps also impact flow. So it’s a balancing act. Temp surfing, low to high has been noted to produce well rounded shots. Mouthfeel, body, sweetness, acidity etc.

Tried it. Sort of. More brews needed under more controlled circumstances because this whole brewing while traveling is super jenky. I changed just about every variable except the grinder the coffee the dripper/filter and the water.
Definitely tastes different much smoother and less acidic and no bitterness. Not crazy about it but there were so many hiccups in the brewing of this cup it deserves its own video.
Surprised that I was able to get drinkable coffee at all after this s..t show.
    Happy Thanksgiving 🎉🎉🎉

I saw his video. First I'll say that some of lances content can seem a little sketch to me. But this concept of cold blooming seems worth a try at least. I'll report back if it's worth the extra effort but at least it sounds good. Some of his content strikes me as more commerce and algorithm driven but this sounds more authentic.

Hello Mr. Hoon. With you using the EK today, did you see The Wired Gourmet video yesterday? He came out with a detailed video of aligning the burrs for the EK and in a prior video, showed him restoring an old EK. Thought you may be interested.

the audio quality has really gone down lately, there seems to be a problem with your lavalier mic Hoon, there's a strange electronic pooping that's really constant throught the video and in other previous videos too.

This is nothing new. It's been used by competitors and professionals from my knowledge as early as 2014 and last year at world's as well.
