The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

I live in Michigan. 3 yrs ago renewing my military I.D. I met a woman who’s grandmother went to that school but stayed home that day because she didn’t feel well. We talked about how, if she had gone that day, this nice lady and myself maybe wouldn’t have met that day because she wouldn’t exist.

I’ve lived in Bath my whole life (I’m 20 now) and I just want to say that this video is done so beautifully. As a child we learned about this tragic disaster all throughout my years in school and always talked about it every year in remembrance. We talked about this day every year but never discussed in such detail about the children’s individual stories so some of the information was new for even me to learn. As a child who grew up in Bath the impact that our town’s history has on everyone to this day (my own graduating class as well) is still very present. My own graduation day was held on the 18th of May specifically in honor of all the children and victims of the Bath school disaster. We had a quite moving and beautiful speech in honor of all the children who unfortunately never even got the chance for their own graduation. It’s a much lesser known fact but we also have a museum dedicated to all the children that is located in our middle school. The museum has quite a few memorabilia of photos, school objects, a remembrance statue, and even an old desk and chair that came from the school. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and just want to say thank you for all the respect and evidently meticulous research you did to put into this video.

I've watched a few of your videos now and I couldn't figure out why I was so weepy and why I feel so nostalgic. ...
When I was little (I'm 47 now) my grandmother had MS and tried to keep active but it was difficult, the best place for her to walk was the cemetery in town because it was flat. I would walk with her and she would respectfully tell stories about all the people who passed.
This lead me to a lifetime of love for the serenity and care of quiet cemeteries.

Thanks for talking about this story. I have lived in Michigan my whole life, just south of Lansing and we didn’t even learn this story in school. It makes me so sad that we don’t teach our kids LOCAL history. I learned this story as an adult and was captivated by the parallels with mass murders in our recent history. This should be a very well-known and well told story of our American history. Thank you for bringing those victims back to our present by talking about their lives and showing their pictures. My grandparents both grew up just west of Bath and they were born the year it happened. It makes me want to go put flowers on their grave and then go visit Bath.

21:22 - Shrapnel to the eye, and not dropping the child - I CAN definitely believe that because I went through something similar, but my injury wasnt as bad as shrapnel to the eye.
I worked at a daycare center from age 20 to 23.
It was me and 2 other ladies. They were much older - 60+ yrs of age.
They watched 3 yrs and up kids, and I was over the newborns to 3.
When my accident happened we had 1 baby that was 4 months old, her sister that was 2, and another little girl that was 2 yrs old.
I only had 3 kids, but at those ages a few is more than enough. Lol
One day during nap time one of my coworkers had mopped the floor.
Everything was going good. I had just got the 2 2 yr olds to sleep, and the baby starts crying. 🤦🏼‍♀️
I rush, scoop her up, and Im trying to get to the bottles before she wakes the two toddlers up.
Im cradling her, I put one leg over the baby gate having forgot she had just mopped, and as soon as i pick my 2nd leg up to step over with that one - my feet came out from under me. The wet floor shot them out like a rocket.
Instinct would normally make you reach out to catch yourself, but all i could do was cradle that baby with both my arms and try to protect it as much as I could. 😔
When it was over i was on the floor, on my back. My back hurt like h×ll. I took a hard hit to my head - Ive had grand-mal seizures ever since i took that hit to the head.
But the baby was completely fine. Wasnt hurt at all.
At that time I didn't have any kids of my own. So i really didn't have any motherly instincts that I knew of, but when the time came they kicked in. ☺

I had something similar happen to me. On my first day home from having my son I took him next door to show my friend. As I left her house carrying my newborn son loose rocks underfoot caused me to fall forward. In mid fall I curled around my son and twisted myself around to land on my back. Like the reverse of what a cat does to land on its feet. Fortunately neither my son or me got hurt. I remember the sheer horror that flashed through my mind at thought of falling on top of my son on those rocks and wanting to keep him safe.
I hope the mother of the baby you kept from harm thinks of you with gratitude. I would if I was that mom.
