The innocence of that boy to be captured in the movie, so sweet. Not long ago, in the 80s and 90s, when we would do the same in front of movie camera while attending a function. ❤
When I was about seven, my dad took some videos on his giant camcorder of my grandparents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. My older cousin kept sneaking me sips of champagne, and I flipped off the camera. My dad thought it was the most hilarious thing ever. I was super embarrassed when I saw it.

My favorite part of all of these restored videos is seeing how much effort everyone put into the clothes they wore in public, no matter how rich or poor.
And the thing is: It's not actually more effort. It's a pair of trousers, a shirt, potentially a waistcoat, a jacket and a hat. That's a perfectly reasonable amount of clothing that most people will still wear today, it's just that the items themselves have changed. And people had fewer clothes, so even less energy went into deciding what to wear. I think we should go back to that: have just a couple of high-quality clothing items that we take care of, that we mend and that we wear until they don't look presentable anymore or we've outgrown them

The reason these videos are so emotional to us (even though its about people we don't know and a time we've never lived) is because the footage is so rare. Something about that man missing a limb, it touched me deep in my soul. Almost to tears. Just a simple day for him, but there’s something so profound about his mundanity. Something so human. I wish he could know how important he was in this very moment.

Its crazy to think my great grandma was 1 year old during this time and my great grandpa was 11 yrs old and I knew both of them well! My great-grandpa died when I was 9 in 1988 and my great-grandma just died in 2006! Its pretty amazing and so cool to see footage of how life was back then!

In fact it's almost certain that it's the cameraman's kid.
Since only an upper class or rich man could afford a movie camera and the chemicals.

And even that's a lil fancy schmancy.

The feelings of happiness and the struggles that made up their lives and all our lives encompassed In people who lived in a different world to the one we live in now … these shorts provoke a million question in your mind
Getting more strange when beeing in that place nowadays where these people's felt at home , and now it's you standing in that same place . Place is still there but all those people have passed away ... and now you walk down this street ... This " LIFE " is a weird concept with overwhelmingly many construction faults . And we try to manage our way thru it . Sometimes helping each other , more often to only our advantage .

My great uncle and my grandfather both wore a tie and jacket everyday all of their lives. They were plumbers and wore overalls over their clothes while working no matter the weather. I thought it was silly at the time but that’s the way they and others were brought up in old Chicago.
Other than farmer clothes, it's probably all they had too. Like t-shirts & jeans weren't mainstream. In fact t-shirt & jeans would label you a bum if you wore them. Now thericher ppl are, the more they want to look like a bum. It's incredible😂
