THANKS STEVE
We love seeing him back
They were not $80,000 new. I purchased a 2006 in 2006 for $168,000 the sticker was $157. That was with all four options. The first buyers were paying $250,000 I know a dealer that told me that tissue was around $135,000 with the three options without the radio.
Steve! Getting better every day! Happy to see you in your natural environment playing with cars.
One step at a time!
Great job!
Agreed, we love seeing him back
Not one, not two, but three to chose from. Come on down. Cheers 🇨🇦
They're going to auction them so the highest bidder picks which 1 of the 3 they want, then auction the next and so on. Pretty cool
Such magnificent supersportscars, a modified version of these actually is the fastest road going car in the world having been driven past the 300mph mark, truly remarkable. 🇺🇸💪👍🏻
When the flying mile/half mile wars started with these type of cars it was impressive to watch.
I want the third, the silver job. It would match my 2009 Impala in the garage. Probably wouldn't get the same milage though,
It is a good looking beast
Steve is usually spot on with his facts, but two mistakes stood out to me: He stated the top speed was around 190 mph but they can do between 205-210. Also the MSRP number he mentioned, "around 80K" is insane. The actual MSRP was around $145K before options and dealer markups, which were insane for the time.
Yes, but worth it, eh?
Steve's got his MOJO back!
He's getting there!
Thanks Steve

This video, target 200 was where we confirmed the production car would exceeded 200 miles an hour . I was actually there performing work to confirm testing.
That's pretty sweet. Would be a fun ride.
I am a Dodge fan. But the Ford GT is a cool car.
My thoughts exactly
I had the opportunity to buy one of these in 06 for $147,000 when i was shopping for my 2006 mustang gt, i just didn't have the means.🤣Back then i thought the vertical handle in front of the doors was the door handle.😁
Canadian car probably has 'permanent on' daytime running lights (i.e. cannot drive the car in dark/unlit mode) and 'clutch in to start' (cannot pop the clutch to start the car with a dead battery or start car in neutral). Not sure if US cars had these 'features' that are mandatory in Canada. GREAT to see Steve back at it! He is the BEST!
We love seeing him back
U.S. cars have clutch in to start too
@@RyanBrunner390 good to know. I gather Canada has had it longer. I had a 2010 Lotus Elise (notorious for draining the battery) and the the US members of LotusTalk kept telling me to just roll it and pop the clutch to start. I told them it was impossible due to the 'clutch in to start' mechanism mandatory in all (recent) Canadian cars. They had no idea what I was talking about and didn't understand. I drove a '90s Toyota pickup that had an override switch. Brilliant!
@ Interesting! Certainly it would have started if you were going fast enough, but maybe it wouldn’t have kept running because of the failsafe. There’s no electronic componentry that could stop someone from killing the engine at 60 mph and then putting it in a gear and letting the clutch out.
They were actually called
'Ford GT' well before the GT40 was used. The 1960s cars were only 40" high, which then the press used and it stuck.
So in reality these are 2nd generation Ford GTs.
I own and drive a 2005 and a 2019 Ford GTs and an inspiring Ford Performance Historian.
My friend did own a 1964 real 289 cobra. He traded it for a real GT 40! This was in 2000! I asked him why did you do that! His answer was because i could!
I remember when those came out, the dealers did their thing and added markups to make the price north of $100k. Needless to say they didn’t sell many therefore ford stopped making them. The stealerships did the same thing with the 00s Tbirds
They were already over 100K MSRP. $139,900 in 05 and went up to $149,000 in 06 I believe. Dealers did mark them up, but that made them on average 160-180K for what people paid new. Also, that’s not the reason they stopped making them. Headlight height and windshield header requirements changed for 07, and they didn’t want to change the design and ruin the look so they stopped production
The car was originally called the Ford GT before it became the GT-40. The new GT for 05/06 might have had the name GT44 but they decide against it. Top speed was 205, a tad higher than 190. The engine was basically taken from the Lightning truck. MSRP was 140k (not 80) and was a steal then as is now. The current pricing is in the 350-600k range with the Heritage cars at the upper end.
Not correct about the engine. People only say that because the Lightning had a 5.4 liter block. Ford GT had an entirely aluminum engine. (block, heads, etc) Different supercharger too I believe. Totally different stuff but everyone says it’s basically the same
I miss the junkyard crawl, especially the information lessons
His goal is to get back to those. Building towards that now.
What are great project by Ford with a reasonable sticker price. Unfortunately they built too few of them and the prices went through the roof immediately.
They made 4,038 of them which is a fair amount considering the category of car it is. The prices dipped in 07-11 and then really started going up in 2012 and 2013
@RyanBrunner390 but hadn't they all been initially sold with massive dealer markup?
@@JackF99 a lot of them had been marked up a lot (200k asking price) but there are more stories of them being maybe 10-30k over. Most people look at the values as going from MSRP around 150-160 then dipping into the really low 6 figures in the recession and coming back up in 2012ish and they never came back down. Obviously today they’re worth easily 2-3x the original price
@@RyanBrunner390 If only they had bumped the production up to from 4000 to about 100,000 I think I could have afforded one when they were new.
shame none of them are driven what a waste of a classic...rich people really gotta get something else to do
Beautiful cars , not as nice looking as the original mk1 GT 40 , but at least a bigger man can fit into them properly. It was nicer when you saw Weber trumpets under the rear window, and as Nikki Lauda said about the side scoops on the modern GT (" they look like shit ") not being integral , but looking like add on's, I tend to agree with him .But still a great car.
I'd love to take one for a spin
@@mccandlessantiqueauto6509Oh yeah absolutely. I can remember seeing a charcoal silver one here in New Zealand, and I chased it , and followed it for a while to get a better look .Like with some other cars, they look even better when they're actually right there in front of you.
Steve is a card nerd's nerd!
10000%
Would be a good car if it didn't have FERD stamped on it.
Reliability was questionable back then.
this dude pulled off a hell of a scam
You have no idea what you're talking about.
You are a scam.
