AC/DC - Last performance of It's A Long Way To The Top (1979) Very Rare

- December 17 1979 - Hammersmith Odeon London.
This is the very last time AC/DC played both Baby Please Don't Go and Its a Long Way To The Top during a concert. Arnaud Durieux figures it was a way for the band to close off an era, as they were destined to hit big with their next album. Sadly things did not go as straight forwards as they had hoped.
Remastered from pretty good master tapes, audience recorded. You can hear that the song is accompanied by synthesizers for the bagpipe section. Ever expected to hear AC/DC and synthesizers in the same sentence?
Enjoy this very rare performance!
Never mind the rough sound, it’s still nice to hear this live as late as 1979!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A early AC/DC classic song and in this last played live version with Bon a absolut Killer-song.
R. I. P. Bon and Malcolm
WOW! Had no idea they played this after '77!
Must be super rare. Thanks for the upload!
Anything with bon is the best recording, I love this, So AC/DC.
they need to play this again before they retire
I think, just to finish up their career, they should play it, on the back of a truck, driving through melbourne
@@your_local_brass_bandit8825 And finish in ACDC Lane, silently stand in line, take a bow, then retire.
@The SNES Man I think he should sing it once and once only out of respect for Bon before they retire
THE ULTIMATE SONG OF WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE IT...there will NEVER be a better song written about what it takes.. GOD BLESS BON SCOTT...
Ohh the memories I have with this gig one of the first I ever got from 1979. A rough sounding bootleg but you made it sound better. A very unique setlist for this show. Live Wire was not played on this night.
What was the setlist? Do you remember?
They rarely played this song live even in the Bon Scott era. It has never been performed with Brian Johnson as of yet.

THIS IS AMAZING. WHAT A FIND. THE GREATEST EVER.
Really missing Bon and Malcom 😔
Love the tempo. Fast but as ferocious as ever.
I love anything from the vaults and rare audience audio and video. 🤘🤘🤘🏴
Just think: a couple of months later and Bon would be dead. Truly the end of an era.
What a ripper.
So awesome ❤️
Thank you, brother. Thank you.
What an absolute gem. Thanks for sharing
⭐
AC/DC for ever -
For ever AC\DC
⭐
Wow hahaha Such great energy, Never heard it twice as fast before
Wow, huge AC/DC fan and I never knew they played Its A Long Way this late. I did hear they had planned to resurrect it on the Blow Up Your Video Tour, but some Australian pop singer was doing a popular cover of it, so they dropped that idea, which is a shame...
It has never been performed live with Brian Johnson as of yet as of to this day. Maybe the next tour???? Hire a bag pipe player for the tour
read wikipedia about the song
Very cool,The band is firing on all cylinders as they do.
Bons song ❤️🍺
Thanks for uploading my friend. Listening to this brings me such joy
To my knowledge, this would be Cliff's only time playing this song.
so playing this song, even in '79, would've had to have been the first time since '76 then, correct?
@@ImperialRadioYT ‘77 mate
@@FaTaLShadow3825 so '77, but still with Mark? Wow.
Yes after 1976 they played it once in 1977 at the Haymarket January 30, 1977 show. Mark Evans was still in the band at that point. Cliff didn’t join until May 1977
Perfect world scenario, Angus and Brian come back to Aus after the European power up shows, play their final show in Sydney and after For Those About to Rock, they close with this
Always wanted to know when they played this last.
bagpipes done by synthesizer----i think there was another posting of this different sound quality
Could have cut the synthpipes-part and it would still rock as hell!
Yeah i paid $45 for the cassette of this boot back in late 80's , sound was fucky high on one side . this is a better mono clean up though . i got my cassette somewhere round here .
🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿👍🏿👍🏿❤❤❤❤
AC DC numer 1 ok 👌
instead they were two prophetic songs because they closed an era and hit with the next album even if unfortunately without Bon ..
*just today i saw the movie school of rock with jack black*
Wonder who played the synth?
Am wondering the exact same thing!
Who ever played it butchered the timing. No wonder we don’t know their name lmao
Could be Bon as he would normally play by bagpipes
@@jimestooper1480 that would my guess, another awesome share thanks pasta
read about it in a book no name
Synthesisers in AC/DC?! Blasphemy!
I’m really curious about who is playing them in this recording!
@@ACDCguy96 Could be prerecorded
Don't you think it's a real bagpibe?
@@TheFiskerlars nah, they were destroyed
you should hear the others
Angus Young numer 1 ok 👌
