Knots and Rope: Figure 8 Bend (Flemish Bend)

- A figure 8 bend is a convenient way to attach two ropes together, but it does have some drawbacks. The figure eight bend is also called a flemish bend, a double figure eight bend, and a rewoven figure eight bend.

Indeed, the flat overhand knot is much more preferable than the last knot you showed for joining two ropes.
i use the death knot on my floss in the morning. it doesn't hold real well but no lives hang in the balance and its quick
