    Knowing most of those men could have been saved but were failed by people who were supposed to be there for them is totally 💔💔.

    It wasn't so much pride but more they wanted to keep their military secrets...secret. The Kursk was latest state-of-the-art top secret Russian technology at that time. Still, I think if they did not want outside help, they themselves should have been more urgent about saving those men.

      For me I think it was pride, A lot of Russian leadership was the same as during the Soviet Union. Russian leaders didn't want the world or their people to know that they screwed up, the Russian leader tried to do this with with Chernobyl but failed as well as many other nuclear disasters that were much succesful.

    So funny I found this video, I remember being in the military when this happened. I distinctly remember this because we had a whole debrief done on rescue tactics on land and sea. Wow, I can’t believe that’s what this video is about - I haven’t even thought about this situation since it happened.

    The Russian/Soviet oligarchy has a history of self-interest and upholding its reputation of perceived strength.

    This was a horrible tragedy but you have to realize that this happened a few months after the Soviet union collapsed and russia started. Despite this a lot of russia military and government protocol were basically the same, also the cold war was still happaning

    • @DadInTaiwan
      @DadInTaiwan 2 роки тому +14

      The Soviet Union dissolved in 1991. The Kirsk disaster happened 9 years later in 2000, more than a "few months" later.

    • @pedroguerrero3862
      @pedroguerrero3862 2 роки тому +2

      @@DadInTaiwan my mistake, but 9 years isn't that long regarding to military policies, it take a long time to change these policies. Also a lot of those general and leaders in the military were in control of the army years In the soviet union so even if those policies and protocol were changed, those generals would have most likely stilled followed Soviet Union policies despite it being several years since the collapse of the Soviet Union
