I've only got 7 miles on my R model Sting, but it's a game changer for this Sur Ron rider. One thing: it's MUCH quieter, not that the SR was noisy as such, but the the Sting R is incredibly quiet.

Man THANK YOU for posting this video. I have scanned and searched up down left and right for someone that has had motocross experience to ride and review this bike. You view of how the suspension setup in the end was something i had a hunch for and to be prepared for when i buy this. From one MX racer to another i like a chopper style suspension too bro haha
Thats awesome man, love to hear it lol! Yeah one thing I'm going to look into for that, instead of the wheelset I may go with a aftermarket triangle or linkage to hopefully sit the rear down some. Those seat kits look stupid to me and they dont change the geometry of the bike at all so pretty pointless. Gonna do my best with the clickers and psi on the stock suspension to get it feeling how we would want it... well see what kinda turd I can polish outta mountain bike suspension...
@@freerfixedit so between the time I commented last to now, i just ordered mine. LOL. Luna cycle had a few people cancel for there next shipment at the end of the month. So all in all ,im STOKEDDDDD And i may attempt the wheel approach, with 16 rear idea. And then have another street wheel set i can swap out. But Im very curious what you can dig out of the suspension as well. From what ive seen the linkage made a big deal with the surrons so id imagine its the same treatment with the talaria. But Looking forward to seeing something you from ya!

Nice video! I could tell this was in NC while you were riding. It looks a lot like Carolina/Kure beach down in Wilmington where I live! I had a Surron back in 2020 and everyone thought it was insane! Get ready for everyone to talk to you about the bike lol. Surprisingly I never had any issues with cops or anything and I saw a bunch while riding. I sold my Surron after about 6 months to get a motorcycle because someone offered more than what I paid for the Surron and I regret it to this day... currently waiting on Luna to restock on the Talaria so I can place an order :D!

@@beyourself4450 yeah unfortunately it does. It has a stink bug stance and it’s not good. There’s a seat mod you can do to correct the seat angle, and I’m waiting on a lowering linkage to come out before I do a wheel set

Also some restricted military areas, and a few questionable grey area private/public locations. There is one spot in Newbeury (sic) that ends up in Malibu-ish. Sherriff's are saying all day if you can pedal and bike propels. ( so no fakie pedals here.

First charge went from 80% to 100% in around an hour I’d say. I just plugged it in over night so I’m not sure, but I’d guess it probly takes about 3-4 hours from dead to a full charge
I'm awaiting a delivery of the 2023 talaria sting r mx pro expert edition & it should be here 1 day next week I can't wait fir it to get here I have already got a new better seat & footpegs plus an upgraded grit shift Blinder bar light so got a couple of mods but nothing to take away from the look of the bike I'm also looking into getting indicators for it just to be seen on the road at night

Go down there a few times a year and, yeah, you’d have no problem keeping up with traffic during the season just on eco mode. lol Also, you should get plenty of range with the terrain being so flat. I’d be worried about the cops down there, honestly. They look pretty bored. Interested in hearing if you encounter any issues with them in the future.
😂😂😂 you know all too well then about the traffic situation and the over population of police. So far so good. I haven’t had any run ins, and I have passed a few. I want to do a video where I ask local police what the ebike laws are. But for now I just be respectful and have my fun in safe places

I was able to get one from the first batch lunacycle sent out. It was my first ebike purchase and lunacycle treated me real well. I placed my order on the april 2nd and it got here on the 13th. I'm all the way in NC though, lunas in cali

So I actually read on a forum that the rear shock is nitrogen filled, so I won't be messing with the psi on the rear. I will experiment with different psi on the front, and the suspension setup video will be out saturday night I'm hoping. My dog just had surgery and hes pretty out of it... just been taking care of him
Ehh it will be fun while it lasts, cops will realise these are essentially 125 dirt bikes pretending to be E bikes eventually, then it will be licences, plates and no bike trails.
I haven’t yet. I’ll report back once I do. I do know they check them at the factory and mark them with a blue marker. Every nut bolt has the line on it so you can see if they start to back out
I've removed a few of the fasteners and hardware at this point and I don't feel like they were overly tight... but I'd rather things be over tight than loose!

Anybody have any info for how well the talaria sting r does in the mountains? Or at high elevation? Like 7000-11000 feet. I'm looking into them for camping and hunting but nobody seems to have any videos I can find closer to what and where I'd be using it. Thanks in advance if anyone gets me some replies haha
On the previous talaria you could unlock the speed with lever codes. I'm guessing you can't do that with this one. My max is 45 without cutting the wire so I'm unsure if the code worked or not.
I feel ya. I'm in Michigan so the laws on E bikes that go 50mph are iffy. I haven't even bought a Talaria yet and I am already mapping out escape routes. Cops are kind of dumb so if it looks like a bike, they think it;s a bike.
I bumped into a cop the other day and asked what the laws were for e bikes. He said wear a helmet, go with the direction of traffic, and follow the law. Pretty simple. Don’t give them a reason to stop you, they most likely won’t

I’ve just been operating under the “don’t be a jacka$$” rules and haven’t been messed with yet. I have my fun, I just know where and when to do it. Gotta have a reason for them to mess with you, otherwise just be respectful and blend in. Maybe throw some imaginary pedals in there if you get nervous 😂
Hey just wanted to check and see how wide of a rear tire does it come with and how wide of a rear tire do you think you can fit on it. Thinking about from my surron to this bike
The stock rims are 1.6 inch wide vs the surron 1.4. The swingarm is wider than the surron and measures ~ 5.25” between chain and brake side of swingarm. It looks like you could fit some pretty beefy tires, and if you go too big, you’ll scrub the chain
haha, same. First time I tried it, I used a ton of times the foot brake in the air :D Im was looking to put the first gear na dlooking for neutral as well when stopping as well :D
No issues so far… I just wear a helmet and follow the rules of the road. I made a fb group NC e bike riders if you can find it. Trying to grow the local community and plan some group rides in the future

The front brake is still on the throttle side so that all feels normal, just have to get used to applying the back brake with the left hand lever instead...

Yeah… so far so good over here in nc. Out west I hear cops are cracking down and making people install pedal kits. My rule of thumb is don’t give them a reason to pull you, and they won’t. So far so good 🤞🏽

technically I think youre supposed to have a pedal kit... but I havent had any issues with them yet... Just dont give them a reason to stop you and so far so good... Ill keep you posted and plan to do a video where I go up to local police and ask them ebike laws... stay tuned

Yes. I’ve seen there’s a button sequence that you can do now instead of cutting the wire. Haven’t confirmed it, but it’s supposed to be; turn the key on, hold start button for 6 seconds, pull the left brake lever 4 times, press start button 4 times. Let me know if this method works for you. Seems like a better option than cutting wires for most people
@freerfixedit I tried this and my max speed is 45 and it can't do wheelies. I'm only 140lbs maybe 150 with my gear. Maybe I'm just dumb and did it wrong though
Has the Police messed with you yet? Here in Florida we would not be able to ride everywhere, that's going to be classed as a straight up Motorcycle due to no pedals. Some places are pretty strict on the pedal or pegs thing I've heard. But crap I want one of those 👍
They haven’t messed with me yet and I’ve passed a few. I’ve just been being respectful, not speeding, and only having my fun in safe places. Basically, I feel like you have to give them a reason to mess with you

You can remove the brake sensors by unplugging the two wires in the front, I have heard that can help with weelies when holding them for long times

I'm 15 and have a gas gokart i'm modding, but i'm really getting tempted to save up and try electric.
A lot of used surron parts available due to people upgrading. I say go electric ⚡️

Anybody have any info for how well the talaria sting r does in the mountains? Or at high elevation? Like 7000-11000 feet. I'm looking into them for camping and hunting but nobody seems to have any videos I can find closer to what and where I'd be using it. Thanks in advance if anyone gets me some replies haha
On the previous talaria you could unlock the speed with lever codes. I'm guessing you can't do that with this one. My max is 45 without cutting the wire so I'm unsure if the code worked or not.
I’ve yet to have anyone confirm if the button sequence works on this model. I would have rather not cut it, but it works 100% of the time 😎

I feel ya. I'm in Michigan so the laws on E bikes that go 50mph are iffy. I haven't even bought a Talaria yet and I am already mapping out escape routes. Cops are kind of dumb so if it looks like a bike, they think it;s a bike.
I bumped into a cop the other day and asked what the laws were for e bikes. He said wear a helmet, go with the direction of traffic, and follow the law. Pretty simple. Don’t give them a reason to stop you, they most likely won’t

I’ve just been operating under the “don’t be a jacka$$” rules and haven’t been messed with yet. I have my fun, I just know where and when to do it. Gotta have a reason for them to mess with you, otherwise just be respectful and blend in. Maybe throw some imaginary pedals in there if you get nervous 😂
I also wear a helmet, just a bicycle helmet unless im filming, but I think they appreciate that as well
Hey just wanted to check and see how wide of a rear tire does it come with and how wide of a rear tire do you think you can fit on it. Thinking about from my surron to this bike
The stock rims are 1.6 inch wide vs the surron 1.4. The swingarm is wider than the surron and measures ~ 5.25” between chain and brake side of swingarm. It looks like you could fit some pretty beefy tires, and if you go too big, you’ll scrub the chain

No issues so far… I just wear a helmet and follow the rules of the road. I made a fb group NC e bike riders if you can find it. Trying to grow the local community and plan some group rides in the future

How does one get use to no foot brake? I am thinking of switching the levers to male it like my mtn bike. 🤔 not sure yet.
The front brake is still on the throttle side so that all feels normal, just have to get used to applying the back brake with the left hand lever instead...

Yeah… so far so good over here in nc. Out west I hear cops are cracking down and making people install pedal kits. My rule of thumb is don’t give them a reason to pull you, and they won’t. So far so good 🤞🏽

technically I think youre supposed to have a pedal kit... but I havent had any issues with them yet... Just dont give them a reason to stop you and so far so good... Ill keep you posted and plan to do a video where I go up to local police and ask them ebike laws... stay tuned

Just got mine..no doubt it's powerful..but I'm suprised no one says much about the quality being pretty suspect with a lot of components..in a made in China kinda way. Hmm

Yes. I’ve seen there’s a button sequence that you can do now instead of cutting the wire. Haven’t confirmed it, but it’s supposed to be; turn the key on, hold start button for 6 seconds, pull the left brake lever 4 times, press start button 4 times. Let me know if this method works for you. Seems like a better option than cutting wires for most people

@freerfixedit I tried this and my max speed is 45 and it can't do wheelies. I'm only 140lbs maybe 150 with my gear. Maybe I'm just dumb and did it wrong though

They go over 50 out of the box. Gps verified. I put a 52t sprocket on the rear of mine and still get 46mph on the gps

Has the Police messed with you yet? Here in Florida we would not be able to ride everywhere, that's going to be classed as a straight up Motorcycle due to no pedals. Some places are pretty strict on the pedal or pegs thing I've heard. But crap I want one of those 👍
They haven’t messed with me yet and I’ve passed a few. I’ve just been being respectful, not speeding, and only having my fun in safe places. Basically, I feel like you have to give them a reason to mess with you

@@AW-yv9sq my brother is 6’4 and about same weight. I’d tell him to go for the ultra bee by surron. Yes it’s more expensive, but it just fits his frame better and would be more enjoyable to ride imo

Battery range - I’m in Wilmington and want a #e-bike so I can get to and from to surf 🏄♂️
I haven’t done an all out range test yet, but I can confidently say you can’t get 40 miles with aggressive city style riding in sport mode

Do yourself a favor.. drain and replace the gear oil right now with quality synthetic.. then do it again at 100 miles.. I’m in Maine and have had mine for a year.. thinking about upgrading to the R but might wait a year.. see if we go to war.. if so might not want to give them anymore business
