It’s famous because little rhyme made banbury famous throughout English speaking world and banbury cross tourist attractions but cross that stands in centre of banbury has nothing to do with rhyme cross now standing was erected in year 1859 to commemorate marriage of queen Victoria eldest daughter rode cock horse to banbury cross is traditional English nursery rhyme dating back to 17 84 when published in nursery parnassus it needed to be said that version in 18 th century instead of modern lady and old woman bon voyage have great time stay safe blessed good luck to you your loved ones
