Just a tip......when you are down to the rectangle copper winding......instead of breaking the plastic and then pressing the copper wire to a smaller bundle, you can put the copper and plastic in the vise and close it to crush the plastic. That breaks the plastic to easily remove the garbage plastic AND compress the copper wire at the same time. I forge copper, aluminum, and brass from scrap and this has reduced the plastic mess flying around and helps keep copper bundles smaller.
I have done them this way for almost 40 years. Ciming from a line of scrappers i was ridiculed for doing it that wY yntil they saw how fast and easy it can be
You are very welcome and thank you so much for watching, I’ve been following you for quite some time and I’m honored you took time out of your busy life to watch one of my videos!
1st time viewer here, the best way to get praise is by praising others, I like your style, but don't forget our non- Christian friends, I'll be watching!
just tried this on a fairly sizable transformer out of a commercial grade UPS. i used a HF machete and a 5lb sledge. it worked. the machete handle came apart, expected that. will wrap in cloth and duct tape. the edge on machete held up which I didn't expect for HF junk. next time I'll use a small hammer. its not about the impact force as much as the repetitiveness and changing angles. overall, yes, it worked and this thing was the size of a toaster!
Wow that’s really impressive. I cut apart a 22 pound stator in half with my machete. I’m sure the machete has its limits but so far I’m pretty impressed with how well it works. Thank you for leaving your comment, I appreciate it.
Great video mate. Another great channel for E waste is E waste Ben, hes a fellow Aussie, very informative. Tin Man scrapper also has a great channel🍻🇦🇺
I usually use a cold chisel to split that weld works a treat. I'll give your example a try next time I have one. Those microwave transformer tops make a heck of a noise if you try to power it up once it's broken. I attempted to make an induction heater for trying another way to melt copper in my crucible. God bless.
@scrapitall200 . Thank you for subscribing. I really appreciate the support 🙏 It is fun, but be careful, as the high voltage poses quite the health risk, lol.
@@steveherr450 probably could just hit it hard enough to break the weld, but it doesn’t hurt to weaken it with a cold chisel or a hacksaw. I don’t own a cold chisel and most people don’t, so I use what I got. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, may the grace of GOD bless you mightily and keep you Sir; in JESUS name amen. You have earned my subscription. Keep up the good work brother!
I'm sorry- the smaller 1 inch diameter " tube" alongside Compressor on the small ACs have dry pellets and a brass screen and oil. I've seen enough of them here in New Yawk
I just give a 1mm deep cut at each weld with a 4" grinder with the 1mm thin disc then the I part falls off clean. However most transformers built that way seem to be microwave ones and 95% of microwave transformers are aluminium wire bar some of the really old ones.
Thank you for mentioning the channel. Hope yours continues to grow. Just ignore Scrap Rodriguez when he talks about my buckets. The truck only smells like pickles for a day or four.
Keep that steel separately as Electrical Steels are bigger $ (if your metal place) takes it as a different price. Hammer thst plastic bits to the center and then pull out the plastic chunks.
Yeah unfortunately my scrap yard doesn’t pay any better for that kind of steel. Honestly I hate making a mess so I tend to not hammer stuff even though it would be quicker like you just described. Thanks for the tip and comment and for watching. I really do appreciate it
Appreciate the shout out! Videos lately have been a little boring...just picking up gaylord boxes of electronics, but I have some very interesting tear down videos coming soon, I promise!!
I’m only getting $2.85 for number one which I think is ridiculous. I’m going to hang onto my number one full watch on the video my friend keep up the good work and 1.9 is closer to 2 pounds then it is 1.5.
Yeah copper has dropped so much. I’m going to hold on to mine until prices get better. Yeah the scale I use reads in pounds and ounces. Thank you for leaving a good.
Old audio gear can be worth much more than you make scrapping in a week. You mention scrapping stereo receivers. Look stuff up before gutting it. You may be trashing a unit worth hundreds for $5 in scrap.
And just so you know, I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a few weeks. I think it’s important to support other UA-camr scrappers. Thanks again, bud.
