    You guys should do one more centered around rally cross people. Not uncommon for rally cross guys to be running cheap winter tires/small all terrains/ all season tires. You should test them against rally tires on a simpler platform.

    Pirelli, Michelin and Yokohama has hade the most success here in Sweden. I have been doing lots of rally sprints lately which is mostly hard gravel mixed with a bit of asphalt and I have found the Yokohama ADVAN A036 to be very good for those types of roads in my FWD Corolla
    edit: otherwise I have been running Yokohama ADVAN A035 on the softer side in the forest which have felt probably as good the Pirelli K8 while being more economical both due to being a bit cheaper and a local dealer helping me out
    edit2: also the Swedish Championship has made a deal with Hankook and their new WRC tyres for the 2025 season so that will be interesting to see what everyone will think of those

    Great video guys! If time allows, bracketing the test with a final run on the first set can help confirm driver confidence vs tire performance

  • @puravidarally
    @puravidarally 2 місяці тому +11

    Good video, unfortunately using K4 and K6 as medium and soft definitely were too hard. K6 are a medium (Pirelli calls them medium soft) and the true soft is K8 which is not available on FWD size you tried but it is on the AWD you did. Would be great to share the durometer numbers too for people's reference.
    Great stuff! Thanks for doing this, very cool!

      These tires are VERY co$tly, (like $250 USD+ each and up, depending on size, compound, and manufacturer) and even the hardest compound varieties will 'burn up' quite rapidly if driven on asphalt/tarmac at all.
      WHY I decided to just run on a strong, XL side wall, less micro-siped, winter tire (like the General Arctic 12s, or Conti Viking 7s) to work on gravel rallies instead of actual, real gravel rally tires. 😉

    Where can the Michelin tires be purchased? The only place I can find the Pirelli tires is charging $430 per tire before shipping!!! That is a huge difference when you compare it to the more budget friendly tire like MRF ($180 per tire shipped!). Even if I only run one set of MRFs per day on a two day rally, it would still be cheaper then one set of Pirelli. Curious what the performance of the Pirelli would be after one day of racing compared to a new set of MRF. Now that is a test we need and would convince ppl to try Michelin and Pirelli.
