In my many play throughs I never realized you could actually avoid having to sit down in that god awful torture chair
This was a first for me too! I had managed the first volition check before but eventually even volition told me to sit down.
I bumped Volition higher twice trying to listen to the intercom on my first play through so i accidentally nailed this encounter, only losing Morale to the Lost Gun Problem.
the fact that the later text says you "cross your legs" suggests that even the writers didn't fully take into account that you might succeed on that check

7:25 So after you refuse to sit down, you just "cross your legs and yawn" while standing? Seems this Composure check Succes was written with Harry having sat down earlier in mind. Is it an oversight? What happens when you fail the check? Do you "sink into the chair" while standing?
There are lots of occasions in the game which describe things physically happening to people which don’t make much sense when viewed through that lens , my best answer is “don’t think about it” 😂
@@The41stPrecinct Haha, true. It must have been a tremendous amount of work for the developers to get the consistency between scenarios and story events to the level it's already at anyway. So minor inconsistencies like this are not even a big deal, of course, considering the amount of polish already achieved.
@@The41stPrecinct Actually crossing your legs and crossing while standing *is* actually possible; but it's some Hawkeye Pierce from MASH level of body-language and movement and general outward attitude a person can project that strikes as being highly eccentric and petulant all at once; which makes for an interesting character detail in context
Crazy thing with the brown folder is if in the control room after smacking measurehead if you pass the check looking into the file drawer youll know in advance that the folder Evratt has isnt RCM but is from the census bureau. I love all the random little details wish i couĺd play this game again for the first time
You can also get a whole quest from that room related to the fact the strikers are being kept pumped by a specially brewed soup with tons of alcohol in 🤣

Im curious(if your at liberty to talk about it) are the real creators still energetic and thinking about making more of their beautifull world?

Interesting interpretation, I always viewed it as the union putting pressure on her not to turn up but she actually vanished so you could be right!
Is there a single video out there online that shows what happens when you succeed the endurance check on the uncomfortable chair? I swear, I can only find people failing the check or not sitting on it at all.

Nothing interesting. Harry just overcomes the pain and don’t take any damage (as I remember from my “strong build” playthrough)
