In the year 1998, the Raccoon City Police Department dispatched their elite unit S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team to investigate a series of bizarre murders on the outskirts of the Midwestern city.
After Bravo Team goes missing the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team set out to survey the forest where Bravo Team was last heard from, only to discover the wreckage of Bravo Team's helicopter and the corpse of their pilot.
Chris Redfield leads Alpha Team deeper into the forest to continue their search, where their unit is ambushed by a pack of undead dogs. The team flee into a nearby mansion, unaware of the horrors to come...
Resident Evil takes place in an old mansion, the Spencer Mansion, in the fictional Raccoon Forest. The forest is located near the small town of Raccoon City, where a mysterious pharmaceutical company called the Umbrella Corporation is the main employer. In addition to legal research, the company conducts bioweapons research and genetic manipulation under the name White Umbrella, with the aim of creating a super warrior. To do this, unscrupulous researchers created the so-called Tyrant virus (T virus), a pathogen created from the Progenitor virus, which causes its host to mutate after a short time and only follows one basic instinct: eating. By accelerating decomposition, the virus causes the victim to deform, although this does not prevent the sick person from continuing to live. He becomes a Zombie. As the ultimate test, the staff of the mansion and the laboratory within it are unknowingly infected and, by bribing the police chief, the battle-hardened S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) team is sent out to supposedly solve strange cases in order to test the true strength of the T-virus .
In their search for food, the infected, which also include laboratory animals, break out and hunt unsuspecting hikers in the surrounding Raccoon Forest. After several mutilated bodies are found, the Bravo Team of the special commando S.T.A.R.S. sent to provide clarification. But an accident occurs: their helicopter crashes and the Alpha team has to go to the rescue. The player can choose to slip into the shoes of Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield to solve the disappearance of Bravo Team and the mysterious Outbreak in Raccoon Forest. Eight different endings are possible, encouraging repeat playthroughs.

To be fair, it may be 2024, but the game still looks as good as ever. Solid graphics, quality sound. The light and shadow effects are superb. The special filter is very well done and makes the atmosphere much darker. The framing is really well placed where it needs to be. I think it really adds to the experience of the game, the fact that you're forced to frame your shots with the constraint of having a blind spot. You have to be careful, you have to anticipate. I kind of miss that style of game design. Frankly, Walkthrough is excellent. 👍👍👍
