    Super inexpensive.
    Made of extremely durable material.
    A nice, balanced weight and not super heavy.
    A really solid flipper. I have like 50 balis and it holds up against all of them.
    It's my go to recommendation

    I started on a 20 dollar ccc of a bm40t in high school. Upgraded a titanium version of the clone a year later. Transitioning from stainless to titanium is much easier than from stainless or titanium to aluminum. If anything id say aluminum is actually the most difficult because of the way momentum carries and how much less grip there is in general. Its a totally different feel. So for me, whichever material you start with, switching to another is always going to be hassle in some way. Id still recc something like the canyon over the others simply because of durability. Beginners are going to drop the bali....a lot. So its better for them to have something that can actually take the abuse for the learning curve

    1 question, I want to buy a balisong max 300 dollars what do you recommend, because I was thinking of the nautilus v2 but I’m not sure

    • @kirop7
      @kirop7 4 місяці тому

      What's your preference? Do you like G10? Get the Nautilus o Nabalis Trident. Do you want a live blade? Go for the Krake Raken / Sirius V3. Do you prefer titanium? BBbarfly Superfly (they have amazing deals on this trainer). The overall go to is a Krake Raken honestly, it just fits most people's preferences and it gets only held back by its grip. If you like G10 but would like something a bit heavier, get a used rep (or the Armed Shark one if you don't mind clones)

    • @kirop7

      And if you want to save up the most - GET THE CANYON. It is the absolute BEST VALUE THERE HAS EVER BEEN in the hobby. It's insane what you get for that price

      @kirop7 4 місяці тому

      @@henksjoerd-ot8xw I would say go for the Superfly if you want to experience quality titanium and an amazing performing bali and go for the Trident / Naut if you like grip and LIGHT balisongs. Other than that, you can checkout Baikal from ThomasBalisong, Nabalis Wing / the Vulp Pro and if you want something interesting and fun, I'd go with one of the BBbarfly chonky products. They're very unique. Rep trainer would definitely be an option if you can find it second hand as I've mentioned. Also the guy from BalisongFlipping has made 2 trainers I believe and I heard they're both pretty decent especially for the price so you can consider those as well. Squidtrainer is an absolute reliable classic which again, struggles only with grip sometimes. I LOVE G10 ajd I believe it is the absolute best handle material for balisongs so my next pickup will be a Naut V3 (when it comes out) but you should go by what you would like to try or prefer :)

    Being in the hobby for about 4 months(ish) now, and I can relate some points you mentioned. Sure, there are some balisongs feels like aliens comparing to standard balisongs. However, I believe that it is only matter of adjusting yourself, my very first balisong was the OG Squiddy, I learned most basic tricks on that without much problems, but when I switched to aluminum bali, Nabalis Trident that weight only 3.6oz and feels like I am lifting heavy weight on my first day, but my hand was able to adapt within a couple of days.
    What make the Canyon great for the Canyon to me is that it's made from steel, and as beginner, I dropped my knife like a hundred times per day, indoor and outdoor. Plastic and aluminum balisongs will definitely has dent after the first drop on concrete, this will dramatically impact beginners since most people has tendency to safe queen their knives, and the damage also make flipping experience uncomfortable, my Squiddy has so much dents and scratches that I literally don't want to pick it up because it feels so annoying. But not the case for the Canyon, that thing is a tank, I dropped it on concrete EVERYDAY but it still feels normal for me to flip and the damages are less visible, plus, it's like the cheapest authentic balisong so it will not make you feel bad for dropping it which I think is very important for beginner to accept it and keep flipping.

    Hey thanks for this video! It came just in time. I was considering getting a Canyon, Vulp, or Calico (but I think Tay is MIA right now). I had a heavy Boker trainer before and I disliked the weight and the balance. It made rollovers pretty annoying but this isn't gonna be my first Balisong. I am really hearing that we have a similar opinion on this (I also think it's the best starter on the market for now) but I need to adress one thing. The weight/momentum. Because I strongly believe it's a good thing for a beginner. Why? Well, it shapes the style. That new flipper learns to utilize momentum instead of fighting it with ricochetes. This results in a more fluent style instead of choppy, chaoticaly matched tricks. It's obviously just a theory ofc but seems to be true when I look back at us

    • @BladeBias
      @BladeBias  4 місяці тому +1

      True, but it could also lead to a beginner coming to over rely on momentum that may or may not exist on more expensive balisongs they may upgrade to

      For plastic a squiddy b from squid industries is really good for $55 but there is the regular squiddy for $50. Off Amazon I recommend a nabalis vulp for $65 but the nabalis canyon or the nabalis cheese is pretty good.

  • @FastFink
    @FastFink 4 місяці тому +1

    Why would anyone ever go with a Vulp when Orion v1.5 exists at $75? Comes pre-lubed and spare parts, just missing your own lube and loctite or teflon, but honesly I haven't needed it for mine in 3 months of use with some serious drops... Idk, I feel like once you approach anything over $50 it is hard to say go with anything other than Orion unless they are out of stock (or if they really want plastic for some reason)

    • @BladeBias
      @BladeBias  4 місяці тому +2

      Availability. That's the main weakness of the Orion. Some people don't want to wait for a drop when they can buy a vulp in any color anytime

    • @FastFink
      @FastFink 4 місяці тому

      @@BladeBias I did have to wait a few weeks for an Orion trainer to pop up, but man is it worth it! I also will say the limited options on colors/patterns may also turn someone away, but for value and quality and to make sure someone new can really grow/have a balisong that grows with them, I feel like it's worth the wait. However, I haven't gotten my hands on a Canyon yet, so maybe it will surprise me! I do have a Zenith which looks amazing but has tolerances that leave quite a bit to be desired, though it is nice to have one bali with play and one that is more 'strict' and clean (at least that is what I tell myself lol)
