What happiness you’ve taught us to make today-thank you!!! Your bunting and your recognition of those who came before is just lovely!! Can’t wait to see what you decide to do next!
Gorgeous bunting Marion. I couldn't agree more re honoring the work of others by repurposing /using these pieces rather than them being discarded or unused. I have collected embroidered linen/doileys for over forty years, and am currently (very slowly🙄) creating curtains for my studio out of these. There are so many ways these hand stitched treasures can be turned into new stories. Lovely gentle video, thank-you Marion🪡🧵
That sounds lovely Maria. I'm about to make a roller blind for my sitting room with some of mine.... A studio sounds great too! What do you usually do in there?
I've just discovered your channel this morning so am binge watching them all. Can I say your sweet voice is so easy on the ears, as is Boos. Mmy old cat used to sound that. I, m a knitter I sew a wee bit, and love gardening. Your garden is my dream space, so many different areas, and you are so talented. I await with bated breath do more of your wonderful creations. 💕
I was so happy when I sat down to stitch that there was a new video from you to watch. I love that you are a kindred spirit in wanting to use what we have and reduce landfill. I adore the old linen doileys and have a huge collection that I’m currently letting others love as much as me. I can’t bring myself to cut the perfect ones but am still hoarding the ones that are damaged so that I can use them. Your bunting is so sweet. I think I need to make some for myself to put upstairs.
Morning Karen. I totally agree. There's always really beautiful ones that you just can't cut up! But I'm old fashioned and wil still use them on my table😊 sometimes marked ones virtually get given away because mostly people don't want them. It's a shame really 😪 I'm amazed at how many people are messaging me about stitching along. It's opened up a whole new world that I hadn't connected with before. Lovely to hear from you. Happy stitching Karen 😊
I love your passion for everything craft. Its wonderful to use old doily's etc, its amazing what can be found in op shops for not alot of money and given a new life. I'm very glad I found you channel.
Lovely. I especially like how you have memories with each piece. You have inspired me to use my stash of linens that I inherited from family. But, they also just sit in a dark drawer, never seeing the light of day. Hopefully, I can make something beautiful out of them that will, also, be enjoyed by others when I am long gone. Thank you for the beautiful video.
I enjoyed your video, but more than that I enjoy watching the joy and delight in your face as you are doing your projects. You are adorable and such a lovely person. Again, Cheryl
Very nice! And you are so right about reusing beautiful things from past times. So many have become thrown away because people don't respect the time and hard work that was put into the pieces. I am 66 years old this month. It took me some time to realize what these things meant. I think because here in the US we move around so much. Our families are spread out all over if we have any family left at all. So thank you for making these little beautiful pieces important.
Thank you Karen. Sometimes it makes me sad to see all the embroidered linens piled up and going for buttons... I think there's only people like us who see the value in them. It's a great shame.
What an inspiration you are. Love the bunting. Looks so beautiful. I enjoy watching and listening to you. The excitement and the joy you have in making your projects keeps us smiling and inspires us to do new things. Your craft room is definitely your happy place. ❤️😘🤗💕
Great idea for showcasing vintage embroideries and favorite specialty fabrics- I’m looking all around the house for walls that “ need” a bunting!!! We can “deck the halls “all year long!!Thanks for the project idea!
Absolutely beautiful! What tales all those pieces of textile could tell! I smiled when you said about the ones who originally did the embroidery had little idea that you would still be admiring their work! Last summer my daughter and I bought some old table cloths from a shop in Wiltshire which were beautifully embroidered, and they are now in a new home across the world in the Middle East! it's a lovely thought that maybe at some time in the future someone will be admiring my work.
Thank you for this idea! It is a great way to display and preserve the artistic value of old and new textiles, as well as making a memory banner. It probably would be useful to teach and participate with a new sewist on a simple project. I like to ponder over old sewing kits and the contents of old sewing machine drawers to guess the life and thoughts of those who once owned them. I am learning the meanings of sewing terms from you such as “bunting.” Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
Gm i just watched yr video before christmas with the printing of the bags ....i was really touched by your words and how you do everything alone ...im new to your channel and did not know that you had lost your husband ..may you only have beautiful memories .. you have a beautiful daughter and im sending you hugs and love 😍
Marion you have got to make that sewing accessories fabric into a skirt at least and patch or something with the scraps! That and the garments fabric is a 'Must have' when seen so time to use? We've all bought then not wanted to cut it up until it's perfect for a new project. Took a Golden Wedding Sampler to my cousin's yesterday (I was a bridesmaid) and could have done with bunting yesterday as the rain was heavy as ten of us sat under their sheltered carport for our meal!😂 Heavy rain all the 2-hour journey there. Thank goodness that wasn't the case fifty years ago! Looking forward to your next time.
It is super cute! I don't buy much new fabric but did get a few different things at the NEC in March at the Sewing for Pleasure show. It was amazing.... I hope you had a lovely time remembering the actual wedding 50 years ago.. How wonderful!
Love the shapes you created for your bunting, I have always found the triangle shape a bit jarring, this seems a much softer shape. Have to confess to being mesmerised by the moving dragon in the background, presumably hanging from your ceiling 😂 Enjoyable video.
Dear Marion, what a glorious and valuable presentation you have offered here. Big thanks for all you do and for the beautiful how-to-make which is so clear and inspiring. You are wonderful! And my creative world has been greatly enhanced after watching this latest tutorial. You are so appreciated, and how talented you are. xo
It's absolutely lovely! That simplicity fabric is so cute, I've never seen it before. I have to say my favorite one though was the one with the vintage crocheted doily.
Marion I am so enjoying all your videos and your craft room has such interesting things around it. Would love to see a tour of it and how you made them. Your stitching book is beautiful, and you are an inspiration to us all.
Adapting this to vertical bunting for long narrow window by front door. Using similar embroidered linens from the past. No one is enjoying them stored away! Thanks
Brilliant Jacque! I've got a project to start making them into a blind for my sitting room window. I think the light will shine through them beautifully! Yes, It makes me sad to think of so much just hidden away in drawers and then sold at =boot sales or given to charity/thrift shops. Of course it means we can get them for not much money, but the point is that mostly no-one sees their value. And it was people like you and me putting their craft to use making something beautiful...
Hi Marion found an older Video of yours u could also cut round edges with the zig zag scissors which for the life of me i cant remember what u call them .its a luvly way of remembering what u used the fabric for.great idea.luv pauline & Brucexx
We do not mind to see you using both hands to keep the outlining, perfect and the tracing item not moving. It makes for a bit of anxious feelings seeing you only use one hand to trace an item. Your work and ideas are lovely and simple for others to imagine what they too can make. Thank you.
Hi from New Zealand, Southland , MATAURA.I have no idea what Bunting is and why you would do it, Is it a thing in your country? iv never seen it in New Zealand , I love all you do, you are a good kind teacher.
Crikey..yes bunting is definitely a thing in the UK. It stems from ships years and years ago who sent messages via the flags that they raised. So quite often a village fête or a shop who maybe having a special day would put up strings of flags to signify a special day. People put bunting up themselves now, for birthdays, weddings, any special occasion really. And now it's sort of nive to have strings of little flags wherever you might want. They send out a very cheerful vibe ☺️
Might be able to find a tripod for your camera at a pawn shop for less money. Here in the states we make good use of shopping these shops for special things to save money, just a thought.
I have found a beautiful lady who is new to you tube. You are doing a wonderful job. I love all of your videos. You are a real inspiration.
My goodness Brenda... thank you so much!
What happiness you’ve taught us to make today-thank you!!! Your bunting and your recognition of those who came before is just lovely!! Can’t wait to see what you decide to do next!
All sorts of creative things I hope!
Another lovely video reminding us to reuse those pieces tucked away in a drawer to be enjoyed now. Thank you Marion😊
You’re welcome Sheila 😊

I hope you find some spare space Diane.
I find that your World to be so inspiring. 😊
Super cute. I always see buntings in triangles and I really like it rounded.
It all came from the oval dressing table cloth!
Never heard of "buntings" before but this is a lovely way to admire the handiwork of our Mothers and Grandmothers. Thank you, Marion.

Yes, he's hanging from the ceiling and just spins in the slightest breeze.
