Jack. This was so useful. We have the same hood. Tile going in first. I would have never thought to create my own template. Pure genius! It's going to save me time. I appreciate your tutorial.
How do you like this range hood? I like this unit because its only 19" depth. Trying to find a video with it it use while cooking something. I couldnt get a lot a lot of answers from Zline. Does it have a auto shutoff feature? I couldn't tell how loud it was since there was no one talking but can one carry on a conversation with the different level of speed?
We like it so far. No auto-shutoff. The lowest speed isnt loud at all. When we crank it up to higher speeds you can talk in the same room but if one person is in the kitchen and the other in the family room, there will not be a conversation. Its expected with such high fan speeds. Thats what we wanted. You can smell the cooking outside so it works well. I just wasnt happy with the flawed one i was sent, poor instructions, and incorrect diagram measurements.
@@JacksHomeProjects - thanks for the quick response and glad you like it. Like you I only have a electric glass top and not gas so I dont need any crazy 860 CFM rating like Hauslane PS18. This is also 22" depth which I would rather not stick out another 3". My current one is only 190CFM and 7.5 sones - which is around 56db. Im doing a bit of research. I believe Zline's 2nd speed is at 310 CFM and should only be 41db. The loudest they say is 49db. Proline has a similar product PLJW 185.30 which is also 5x19. Goes up to 600 (4 speeds), max sone is at 5 (around 51 db). Its between the Proline and Zline (Proline is a bit more). Proline has the better looking baffle filters. They told me it shuts off at 3 mins - how can that be. Zline is easy to buy... Thanks for your input.
You're probably not gonna see the imperfections from the top of hood, just the front. I just got a zline wall range, and it was perfect, where the imperfections that noticeable?
The sloped top is just barely above eye level. Its pretty obvious. The first one we got was terrible. It looked like they spray painted the edges. The 2nd was better but not how it should look.

Thank you. I’m glad it helped. I’m surprised they dont come with templates and the measurements in the diagram in my manual was wrong.

Looks like alot of work

@@JacksHomeProjects oh wow, yeah my wall mounted hood was perfect. I just got it a month ago, maybe their quality control got better?
