    Curtis Childs is the Director of offTheLeftEye at the Swedenborg Foundation. While obtaining his degree in communication studies from Oakland University, Curtis experienced an internal battle with depression that led him to question God and his lifelong interest in Swedenborgian theology. After a period of intense suffering, he recovered from his depression with the help of modern medicine, therapy, and a return to the spiritually uplifting messages he found in Swedenborg’s writings. Now, Curtis is applying his education and desire to help others find peace through Swedenborg’s insights by producing and hosting weekly webcasts.

    My sister-in-law died young. Everyone was in shock and disbelief that this could happen. Then I had this amazingly vivid dream. I found myself in a very beautiful room, with glass doors that opened onto a magnificent garden. I was seated on a soft couch and next to me was my sister-in-law. She took my hands and her hands were solid and warm. She squeezed my hands and she said, “you silly, silly girl. Why are you crying? I’m more alive then you are! “. I felt a great peace at her words. This dream happened about a week after she had died. That dream occurred more than 40 years ago and yet it’s still crystal clear in my memory.

    I've read Dr. Eben Alexander's books and have seen him interviewed. You may already be familiar with him; he is a neurosurgeon and had an NDE for one week when he nearly died from meningitis. He came back with a tremendous amount of knowledge he is still "unpacking" and with the message that love is all that matters. His narrative about consciousness I found so interesting! Being scientifically minded, he decided to study consciousness and try to find out where it is located. To this day, no doctor has been able to pinpoint consciousness coming from the brain, and after much study and research, Alexander learned that consciousness lies outside of the brain. Our brains are merely filters that slow things way down, in order for us to function in this life. In this mortal body, we would not be able to take in everything that we can out of the body. Anyway, I find his story and his beliefs completely authentic. (Great video, Curtis, as always).

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  5 років тому +6

      I love both of Dr. Alexander's books, "Proof of Heaven" and "Map of Heaven." Thank you for reminding me of that great observation he made, that our brains are organs that slow and filter things down to a level we can handle on the earthly level. So fascinating! And it also highlights how freeing it will be to eventually be rid of that filter, and be able to expand our minds and understanding and love to eternity. Thanks for the kind words, and for watching!

    I was struggling with the thought of death for along time and I came across this channel These teachings set me free from fear. Death is made in this 3D world to be looked at like the end But it really is just a part of the bigger picture. It’s not gory, it’s terrible. But maybe like the preciousness of a birth of a baby being born into this world could be compared to a soul crossing over to the spiritual realm. It is protected and blessed It is sacred and beautiful. We are surrounded and connected to the spiritual realm although we cannot see it. It is all around us. And what we see here is just a small part of the bigger picture. And everyday is a gift to be here and learn and live. But when the time comes to move to the next phase it is okay and it is a part of what we came here for. It should not be feared. Have faith that we will all be together again. I believe that finding faith while we are here is one of the most important lessons we are all supposed to learn in this life 💕

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +5

      Wow, so beautifully written, Sutinah! Thank you for sharing these thoughts! I agree, I think birth and death are very similar - since death is really just a birth into a new world also! I agree with you - life is a gift - faith is a crucial compass for this world! God bless you, thanks for your lovely insights.

      ☘️💚 my husband and I are good loving kind and caring people ☘️💚 our son was the same and was and still is loved by many.. he had a perfect death, it was instant. Sean was running in order to be fit for a marathon he was taking part in later the following week . The proceeds were going to a children’s charity. When suddenly he fell back and died..we believe he had served his purpose on earth and was taken for a reason .. since then we have had countless blessings come our way ... unexplainable happenings. It is the strangest thing when all around you good things are happening for people he loved.. good luck has followed his loved ones around including us ..luck seems high on the list . This is an incredible
      Incident which I will share with you .. Our son was a great reader and had only recently given us a gift of a thousand books he had collected over the years .. The Everymans Library .. 3 days before his funeral I was preparing the bedroom for visitors where the books were where Sean had painstakingly built the shelves.. I had dusted the books down and we were sitting on the bed looking at them crying .. no one else was in the house ( or so we thought) !! We had just finished hanging up the curtains when I noticed suddenly that 3 of the books had moved to the edge of the shelf !!! We looked at each other thinking one of us had moved them.. they were 3 of my sons favourite books called The Black Tulip .. The Old Curiosity Shop and I Twenty Years On!!! We smiled and laughed as our sons spirit was in that room with us and he moved those books telling us he was there .. there was no other explanation .. we slept soundly that night folks 😇😇

    Curtis this makes alot of sense, and it proves out, because my mother contacted me 6 months after her death, for the next 7 years before she stopped. I had asked her what is it like being dead.? She said to me, Donna I am not dead. Then I told her that I was at her funeral. She said to me, Donna death is not what you think. I also noticed that she had her leg back which was amputated due to gangrene and was looking so much happier and much younger than what she was at her death.
    About 2 weeks before she died I had a very vivid dream about my mom, that she was young and was at a feast, with many people who I did not recognize. But she was happy and everyone at the table was laughing and smiling, sort of a celebration. My front tooth became lose and fell out, my mom came over to me she opened up her hand and I placed the tooth in her hand. The dream was over and I woke up feeling very strange. This dream was 11 years ago, and I still remember it so vivid up till today. Well 2 weeks after that dream she passed away. I realized that dream was heaven welcoming my mom home.

    Thanks for another uplifting episode Curtis. Most of us would not have the time to read all of Swedenborgs works so thank you, thank you, thank you for getting his works out to us this way. What you (or Swedenborg) says in this passage about how we get to continue with our "loves" on the other side I believe to be true because of a dream I had a few months after my mom died. My mom loved to learn. It was her passion. At 45 years old she went back to school and got a masters degree. I believe it was the happiest time of her life. And her learning continued until the day she died as she read 3 or 4 books a week from the library about everything from economics to nutrition. So in this "dream" (which I don't think was actually a dream since it was so vivid and I still remember every detail of it years later now) my mom was in a big lecture hall down in the front row with a bunch of people and she looked like she did 35 years ago and she was so enthusiastic. I was up top having just entered at the back of the lecture hall and when she saw me in the crowd she was suddenly right with me (she did not have to walk up all the steps). We didn't say anything to each other, she just reached out and held my hand and the amount of love I felt and saw in her eyes still moves me to tears to this day. That was it. I woke up and I knew the Lord had allowed me this visit so I could see how happy she is. I am so comforted knowing she is healthy and happy doing what she loves, learning! I am so glad I have OTLE to remind me of what is good and true - our loved ones on the other side are still alive and doing what they love and we will see them again someday.

      Amanda, I realize that no words can heal the pain you carry from your son's passing. But what I can affirm is what you experienced: your beautiful boy was protected and cared for by angels during his transition, and he is always connected to you through your loving bond. In the spiritual world, Swedenborg observed that love is what draws people together, and oftentimes is the means of beautiful reunions between loved ones. Your boy is growing and developing in heaven, and is safe. And he loves you more than anything, dear friend. Here's an episode that explains more of the process children go through in heaven: ua-cam.com/video/dVJDMaXaafk/v-deo.html

In the beginning, in the original order God created this world to be in, there was open communication between the Earthly level and the afterlife level. Over thousands of years of human corruption, that communication has become blocked. But our loved ones on the other side are still connected to us in spirit, and I believe your granddad can receive any thoughts and feelings that you send his way. Thank you Curtis. You are so excited in your work! Your explanations of Swedenborg are so helpful, uplifting, and guiding....Two years ago I wouldn't have believed much of what Swedenborg says...but now.....This is why I keep coming back here....When my husband transitioned 16 months ago he was absent from me and my daughter for at most 15 earth minutes; he had been in hospital for about two months as we waited for cancer treatment. When all 5 doctors told me they couldn't help and I told him he shared a look and his thought with me "Well, then I'm not staying." Within minutes he and I breathed 3 long breaths together with no final exhale and he stepped from his body. Then he was back with us and has remained since. He had spent two months in hospital in much inner privacy although we were with him around the clock. His transition was beautiful...with my head on his heart I heard it slow as he took his life with him. At that final moment I heard a single chorus of Heavenly female voices sing one note...it was beautiful. ( He has since told me that he was met by his Holy Mother who had been with him from before birth and by many loving others.) Then he returned to me and now spends his existence in the higher planes mostly with children and also growing flowers (his favorite earth love) and with us. He has answered many many questions and offers guidance in small things and important ones. I have been thinking about one of your shows about when ANGELS SPEAK WITH A BURST OF LIGHT; yesterday when we were talking he told me he had a surprise for me and that I wasn't allowed to keep asking what it was...but to wait. So, I sat in stillness and yesterday as today as I write there is just this minute a burst of setting sun coming through a narrow break in the curtains...what can I say; these kinds of experiences are often enjoyed.. What lies ahead??!! ...CAVEAT: we have gotten hacked by DARK tricksters which has startled me, so I'm here working with you through that....

      I'm so sorry for your loss.💖 I think there's a unique kind of pain when you've lost someone while there are still so many unresolved issues. Please do not worry about it. Underneath all the more surface dysfunctions, there is love. You speak of your love for your mom, and her love for God. In the afterlife, that love can be expanded, and the surface difficulties can be more effectively taken care of. Here is a short story Swedenborg told about a family in the afterlife that had had broken relationships, and yet found healing: ua-cam.com/video/CbZxxQKvuHU/v-deo.html The story of our lives and relationships is just getting started in this earthly life. There is so much more of the story that can unfold in the afterlife.

      offTheLeftEye Thanks. ...Here’s s little something I wanted to ask,.....We all know it’s about neighborly love, caring for others like helping out when we can, but have you ever helped others only to get hidden or unforeseen negative consequences out of it? I mean, this world is like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. We want to do good, but that can hurt us. You’d think that you’d get a good feeling from doing good things but that isn’t always the way it goes. It appears you have to take a chance, and hope that something good comes out of it instead of something bad. I’d think this world has many hidden pitfalls. 👍🏻🙂🙂🙂

It was undeniable and I cannot not share that for fear of what other people think, because I know, I know, consciousness goes on. I think the more you’re connected with another soul that passes on and you both share a love there is better communication. Excellent presentation Curtis - very well done! I love your 'baby / bath water' analogy. It's basically my strategy whenever I am presented with any theory on religion or spirituality. I think a lot of people get caught up in adopting an 'all or nothing' attitude when examining different religious groups, theologies, etc. Some believe Religion A should be totally rejected and Religion B totally accepted. My take on it is that if we look closely enough there are fibres of truth in most all religions. I think we should be respectfully open-minded and search for these truths in the face of religion, but not to the degree that we lose what we identify personally as truth. I tune into my own inner guidance system as well and hold onto what resonates with me, but filter out the parts of religion that bring rise to fear, guilt, and other negative or repressive emotions. When exploring theologies my goal is to approach it with respect but as a critical thinker, with knowledge and experiences from a spiritual standpoint, in search of truth, as opposed to being one who is easily swayed into accepting all indoctrinations of a 'church' just because I see some truth in it. In this way, as we continue to examine further and further, our own personal truth becomes more cumulative. It's open-ended and allows room for growth and expansion as opposed to being a definitive set of religious/spiritual beliefs that we accept as being 'right'.... or a definitive set of religious beliefs as being 'wrong'....

      Oh QUENESS YOMy, yes, I remember. You've been through a lot. Losing your mother is so hard, and the grief comes and goes in waves. It's not a linear process. Give yourself the love and mercy you deserve right now - even when we have strong faith, it still takes time for us to get used to navigating our physical lives without those strong, supportive presences around us anymore! It's hard!
      I'm so sorry for your pain, and glad you have Scripture and that your aunt is there for you! Sounds like she is dealing with her own losses, too.
      It's good to remember that your mother still lives on, that she is nearer than you think, and that God and angels are with you. We need to remember that so that evil spirits don't turn our sadness into despair or anger, so that we don't get lost in it.
      But it's also okay to just have really hard days where you need to cry it out! We all need that. And often times we can't get to the really beautiful memories without feeling the pain of our loss before hand - ever cry so hard you started laughing? I think it can be cathartic. Don't tell yourself not to feel, it never works. Just love yourself while the feelings take over. Sometimes we have to surrender. At least, that's been my experience!

    I have a friend that believes in the afterlife but it's a very new age sorta thing. She believes we become balls of energy, swimming in an ocean of energy which she calls God and we basically do nothing, we just exist in a blissed out state. That belief gives her zero comfort and helps nothing in her life and I can tell. What you believe in the afterlife really does inform your decisions and beliefs right now even if people deny it. I pray she opens her eyes and sees that there is more out there then she can fathom and that hope is eternal.

      What a great comment! If people really understood that their existence continues (including the relationships and socialites that they share with other people such as friends and family members) after this life they would work on improving themselves and their relationships. Believing you are subsumed into one great I think leads people to not worry about improving themselves. Swedenborg makes it clear that our works and our loves matter very much. Rick Rouse Hi, she is right in one sense....the "energy" of spirits. can ,and sometimes does, appear as a ball of light ,often blue! It / they , also at times produce a camera flash gun effect ( by that I mean the old style cameras, from years ago ,not the modern mobile/ cell phone type)Again often a deep blue . The higher and more progressed the spirit the deeper the colour.... Sometimes ( very rarely) you get GOLD ...! and maybe red too ..Gold is a VERY very beautiful and advanced spiritual presence! Here on earth, we know scientifically, that colour has a wavelength and produces various effects, infrared for instance produces heat. The same applies in the spirit Realms but I suspect that they use it differently. So colour = effect! New age? Well.maybe ! But......?

    Swedenborg was talking about me! Coming from a "Christian" family who weren't interested in religion or church, I tried really hard to become a good Christian as a teen. I even joined the Hi-Y, an interfaith Christian youth organization in high school which was allowed in those days. But like Swedenborg, I couldn't quite accept the illogical teachings you mention, like the stars falling on earth. And there was no one for me to discuss this with. Good Christians just didn't talk about doubting the literal understanding of the Bible. Church became a dull mindless show performed every week. The church people were great and good people, but I often think about how I couldn't really have frank conversation about Christian beliefs. Beliefs were just parroted between people, with no thought. My search for the "Church", as Swedenborg used that term, was stimulated by taking world history my first year in college where I learned for the first time of other religions, such as Buddhism, Islam and the Hindu faith. I recognized the truth and wisdom in the teachings of these faiths, and also the similarities with the teachings of Jesus. My thought was that if I had been born into one of these religions, then the beliefs and history of that religion would be my standard of truth and this would have shaped who I was. And I realized that religion is too important to be just an accident of birth. I didn't talk about this with anyone because I didn't know anyone who was interested.
    Swedenborg was correct in his understanding that the traditional and literal beliefs of the churches would lead to people abandoning these churches. The trend in Britain and the U.S. is the same, but Britain is just a little ahead of us. The statistics for Britain as of 2018 is that 53% of adults have no religion. 3% of adults under 24 are Anglican (the state religion), and 75% of this age group have no religion. I don't know if Swedenborg would be depressed by this or would he see this as a stage people have to go through on their journey from superstitious beliefs to a more spiritual understanding? Maybe we'll see a discussion about the need for spiritual underpinnings for civilization as a result of whatever happens to people without it.

      I'm from England and your right, many dont go to church because of their past actions in the name of God and if you ask a priest about the world and how it works they say God works in mysterious ways. On the whole they are of little help. Most churches have to be locked to stop vandalism. I was reading swedenborg on my phone and some one said Are you reading the Bible in a disbelieving way. To be religious is to alot of people weird.

Of course London is much more than the English. In fact, I had to really search at times to find a native. The Mosques and Hindu temples seem to be being used, but I think that they are more of community centers for people still trying to keep contact with their culture. How does the UK government make sense of financially supporting such a minority church as the State Church? The Priests must have a hard time finding meaning in their work. Two important things to know.
    By God's Sovereign plan .... Life 101 .
    1.) We all start our life experience in the Hell level. Insecurity and Lies with a Body that Thirst. The challenge is not to escape, Nor is it to convert Hell's occupants.

    Hint: The challenge is to overcome.
    Truth will set us free. Truth at any level is able to look into the eye of the devil and say no thanks.
    For even a small piece of Truth is much more powerful as a light than any dark room in existence.
    2.) There is no grave for the mind. Jesus (The Word of God) is the life of the Mind. With this Mind we already have complete access to Heaven. This mind can never be separated from its Source....Love.

    Curtis does s good job talking about what Swedenborg wrote....This particular episode is reassuring in certain ways, but makes you wonder about yourself and how you were brought up and misguided in the world, not because you are evil, but because you were “ molded” by society. As you got older, you tended to question a lot of society’s ways. Of course God is the only way, and I believe His ways are the only way, but it took me a while to sort through all the inconsistencies of the world. A lot of us weren’t taught about those church doctrines, or were not educated enough. Its true that I may have been misguided ( still am) and not perfect, but I do hope there is some sort of recovery or special guidance for those who wish to be a better ( that is a good) person than the life they ended up with on Earth. ❤️❤️😊

      Absolutely, Julian. One's physical circumstances on this earth do not limit their spiritual potential! I think of the angels working with newcomers in the world of spirits as being the best-ever therapists and counselors, helping us make sense of our life here and grow beyond it. You will be in good hands as you pursue your spiritual growth to even more goodness!

    Thank you for bringing this to the masses. The Bible never made sense but it was a lot of stories to control the people of the time. It gives power to men and to certain men. It created a powerful church as well. While most thought that religion was to bring them spirituality and closer to God it created separation. Reading only the words of love may be the benefit.

    Many people are very concerned about what happens to their pets when the animal dies. The animals share all of our attributes but in differing degrees. So, what does Swedenborg have to say on this topic?

    My father was appearing quite often in my dreams for the first few months after he died. Then I had a dream where he was showing my family and I a map and telling us that he had to go away to some place on the map. I was upset that he was leaving, but he said that it wouldn't be forever and that he would eventually come back. After that dream he stopped appearing in my dreams for a few years. Now ten years later he appears occasionally in my dreams.

It's very touching that your father was able to get a message through in your dream about why his connection with you would be changing. It's never about a change in their love for us, but rather about a change in where they are in their journey! Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful story.

    Many years ago I wondered why it was always us having to learn about God; and with that, why did all the "god schools" always seem to be a building up the road with a judging eye. It always use to perplex me why it was us that did all the leg work.... to find the ONE TRUE GOD. All i know is; I woke up here on this planet. I searched high and low looking for the source of my feelings and preconceptions. In short, i never found it. About 3 years ago I came across your station and it instantly click with me. It never made much sense, to me, that we had to find God; in a world with some many "right ways" and "wrong ways". I never understand why God didn't just come to us. The writing of ES prove that God does come to us; then, now and forever. If I didnt find you guys 3 years ago; i would still be searching; i would still be confused about life; i would still be stuck in sadness and selfishness. You guys really dont know the works your doing. Just know, it's beyond this world!!!!

    What has helped me tremendously on my journey to truth are two books: A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love.
    A Course in Miracles is a mind training course of study that threatens and loosens the ego's hold over the mind and leads one on a year-long mind retraining away from the ego and towards God and love.
    A Course of Love is a continuation of ACIM and further loosens the grip of the ego, but this time through the heart, and returns us to our true identity. The ultimate goal of A Course of Love is the return to Christ-consciousness and the knowledge that we are both human and divine beings, at One with God, with one another, and with all that truly exists.
    Some people believe that one must first study ACIM before they are ready for ACOL, but I personally know people who have awakened through the study of ACOL alone.
    The profound nature of these two Courses cannot be overstated. If you are seeking peace, and a thorough understanding of the true meaning of forgiveness, the machinations of the ego-self and its effect on our minds and the world as a whole, either or both of these beautiful gifts of scripture will be most fulfilling.
    I wish only to spread peace and love, wisdom and knowledge of these two profound works which are the channelled words of our Brother and savior, Jesus. 🕊❤

    This is amazing, my mind lit up in bright yellow watching this which activated joy I've never been able to truly feel. You are bringing heaven to earth by sharing your love for heavenly stories. I relate to the writer who interviewed spirits after death - I do have interactions with angels, demons, and spirits. I must also sadly share that I've been diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and unidentified anxiety disorder. But ASD was diagnosed as mild, and most of my mind is dedicated to understanding life - what it's like to be human- and trying to find my self image as it seems flat. This means I'm more open to giftedness than NTs, I have many many spiritual gifts that seem to come from another world, pushing me into isolation. Sadly, sometimes I isolate from God too, but he does bring me back. I have a hurting spirit, exploring life as I am. Pray for me!

I hope you will find the happy medium between enjoying your unique gifts and connecting with other people about them. Blessings to you on your spiritual path, and sending prayers!

    We are all a part of the Universe and God, too. We only use 10% of our brain. Think if we could use 20%? Maybe we could figure out more of what is going on. There is no way we can get all this in 70 or 80 years, that's why I believe we come back multiple times until we learn a lesson on something. I'm an old Hippie and now I'm almost 70. I have lived my life that LOVE is the answer to life. We are here to do something good, not evil. Perhaps it's a way to keep good and evil in check. I am excited about dying someday because I'm sure it will be nothing like I can imagine and will be a great adventure. Life and death is a 50/50 partnership. Things to experience in both halves.

The inspiring thing is, that, he describes things just the way I always imagined them to be from being a child and I would think that is the case for many others. I am often disheartened by many of the "new age" ramblings on these matters; which are, at best, confused and contradictory, trite platitudes like "we are all the same entity having a multiple experience" and what not are depressing.

    I've read the bible from cover to cover and I just found it hard to believe, as much as I tried. No disrespect to the beliefs of others, but I feel that God could come up with a better plan. If we are all children of god, what parent would submit their child to everlasting torture in Hell just because they didn't understand Christianity? Swedenborg's experience seems very similar to The Padgett Messages (fascinating read and available free online) as well as testimony from those with Near Death Experiences. You are doing an admirable job of putting these teachings out to the public. I'm loving my life here on earth but part of me is excited about what will follow.

      Thank you so much for your honest response. Yes parts of the bible are truly confusing and hard to read. Swedenborg offers a way to hold them, through correspondences. The idea is that when the bible talks about water, it means truth. When it speaks of bread, it it talking about love. We agree with you whole heartedly that a loving God would never torture their children. God loves us and wants nothing more than our happiness. Bless you for hanging on to that core idea. My Father died in 2016 and we were very close. I was absolutely distraught. He came to visit me less than 24 hrs after he died. He was smiling from ear to ear & that is no exaggeration. He was standing on a street corner of some town that I did not recognize , wearing his typical clothing, and looking a little younger--maybe because of the smile. He told me that he was great & that he was exploring ! That was the first time. He knows me well ! You could try offering it with humility, saying something like, this is something that has been meaningful and helpful to you, and that you're offering it in case it would be helpful. I think it could be fine if you offer it with an attitude of offering, but leaving the person in freedom, without a feeling of pressure.

    Hi Curtis I'm reading this one year on and it's wonderful news. As a Christian I was afraid to tell my church that I had seen my husband sitting on the sofa the morning after he died. I couldn't see his face though. I was sitting with my eyes closed then suddenly opened my eyes and there he was. To my astonishment I wasn't surprised or afraid and I said to him, " oh it's you love" he didn't answer but I felt such peace go through me, I knew he was there o the sofa where he always sat. I couldn't talk to church folk about it because I was afraid they would deny it was Giuls and say it was an evil spirit trying to deceive me. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому

      That sounds like a comforting experience, Christine, and there are many collections of post-death encounters that are similar. On this channel, we believe in the reality of the spiritual world, where our loved ones continue to exist after the death of their body. And we believe that sometimes they can "reach through the veil" -- usually for just a brief message of comfort or love or hope. It doesn't happen for everybody, but many, many people share experiences of this kind. I don't understand why a brief presence of love would be construed as a deceptive evil spirit, and I'm sorry your church folk would see it like that -- evil spirits are not about comfort and love.
      Here's a video we did about this phenomenon, called "Why Don't Those Who've Died Communicate With Us More?" -- it may give you some food for thought. ua-cam.com/video/0mViA5rOF5E/v-deo.html. Please don't hesitate to come back with more questions, and blessings to you!

Some examples are:
      -- someone opening her eyes and seeing her deceased husband sitting in a rocking chair that was in the room
      -- seeing a deceased sister standing at the foot of her bed
      ---turning around in the kitchen and seeing a deceased brother leaning on the refrigerator

    I'm not sure if you guys are aware there is a movie on " Netflix " that has to do with Emanuel Swedenborg. Some of actors in this movie had mentioned Emanuel Swedenborg, and were devout followers of Swedenborg. They actually showed the book " Heaven & Hell " that they were reading. They even held a seance in the movie. The name of the movie is called " Things Heard & Seen ".
    Anyone who is a fan of Emanuel Swedenborg, spirits, haunted houses, life after death and seances, I would highly recommend this movie.

    Talking to my cousin today about her deceased son, she expressed that she’d had a few dreams. In one, they exchanged deep hugs. She knew it was a dream; but, loved the connection. In another, he told her that there are 3 levels in hell. They visited; but, it got so dark and he told her to run back to where they had met which was on her church’s parking lot. I briefly told her a little about what I was learning from you that I think corroborates what her son told her. In final she stated that the Bible is her source, and if it’s not written there she does believe what’s being told to her. My question is how would her son know about the levels of hell? And, how could he show her?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  2 роки тому

      Great question, Vera! I think it's entirely possible that her son is learning about the geography of the spiritual world and wanting to share that information, but what do I know? It's interesting that it was "just a dream," but sometimes we do seem to get messages of spiritual truth through our dreams. I can't pretend to know the mechanics of how the things that her son is experiencing right now, might come through in a dream for his mother, but I do know that the spiritual world works in different mediums than time and space. Thoughts and feelings can come through!
      Such a blessing for her to have that dream about hugging her son. I (Chara) recently dreamed of a dear, departed aunt, whose voice came through a radio. It was HER voice, and it felt so wonderful to have a brief exchange with her! Whether or not it was ACTUALLY her breaking through, the feeling of connection and love was accomplished. What a gift.
      We, too, take the Bible as a source, and we share Swedenborg's writings on the basis of his claim that he was called by the Lord Jesus Christ to learn about the nature of the Bible (with its inner meaning) and to learn about the life after death. Everyone has to decide whether that claim seems feasible to them. We find a lot of help, hope, and healing in the pages of Swedenborg, who called himself "the servant of the Lord," so we share them, in case they resonate for anyone else.
      Blessings to you, Vera, and to your cousin!

What a state we are in when life gradually makes us selfish, fearful and defensive because of false religious and civil rules. Can we only overcome after bodily death? I'm so glad it felt that way to you, Gregg! There certainly has been a lot of misinterpretation of the Bible, even thought Jesus clearly indicated that the Bible is in parable or figurative language:
      “All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them.”
      -Matthew 13:34
      “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.”
      -John 16:25
      “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3:12).
      “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).
      “Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He [g]expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. . . . And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
      -Luke 24: 25-27, 32
      “Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.”

Much Later that day my mother called to tell me the news that grandma passed, and even told me the time of her death. It was the same time I had felt that Joy. It's so wonderful to know that relationships of true love can never die! Yes, married spouses who truly love each other are still connected in a very real way, even when one is in the afterlife and one is still on earth. As you say, the connection is 100% alive! I think you mean your spouse (in the afterlife) is still in a body, rather than in a physical body. They have shed their physical body, but are still fully alive in their spiritual body, which is real and has substance. While the two are separated on either side of the veil, they are still very connected in heart and mind and spirit, and when the second spouse crosses over, they will both be in spiritual bodies, and can lovingly hug, kiss, make love, and touch each other as before. Here is a short clip about that:

    Curtis, I so enjoy your monologs!! I learn so much about Swedenborg through your work. My religion is Roman Catholic, but it is SO formally structured, and it flies against ALL that Swedenborg says is what is TRULY real in Heaven. Curtis, what Christian faith is closest to Swedenborg's view of what God expects of us, along with what His words were in regards to "Not forsaking the Assembly".? Is there such a current day Church? ..or is Swedenborg's view that the Church is IN US, and we do not need the formality of such external organizations? Thank you, Curtis!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  Рік тому

      Thanks for the kind and supportive words to Curtis! I (Karin) will pass them on to him. According to what Swedenborg learned, first and foremost, "the church" is in us! It is our particular relationship with God. Then there is a level in which we spiritually commune with others in a collective understanding of and relationship with God. This communal "church" is less about any external organization and more about commonality in heart and mind. So, people in different earthly denominations can actually be in the same "church" spiritually. External organizations are not necessary, but they can certainly be a tool for expressing and supporting the internal church -- for providing meaningful ritual and fellowship to support our internal spiritual journey. Does that make sense? Does that answer your question?
