Skydancer : the cabriolet motorhome

- The idea for a cabriolet motorhome goes back several years and has appeared at trade fairs in Dusseldorf and Warsaw, however this Skydancer prototype could be ready for production. More information will appear later on this curious vehicle.
Proposed pricing would be around EUR120k but as always this depends on options taken and more to the point, price heavily depends on manufacturing technology.
The vehicle could be manufactured to order with a different internal design if required.
This van is designed in it's current state with four belted seats and four sleeping places, additional sleeping, can be created in the seating position and thus one could sleep under the stars quite literally!

An RV with a roofless cockpit, who would have thought?? This luxurious exquisite bad boy screams USP (unique selling points) which makes the Skydancer RV a class well ahead of it's own!

Was very impressed by the odd shape of this motorhome but very disappointed in the interior. Somehow it seems 'way too small for the size from the outside.
I thought the same thing. The interior was cramped and had zero wow factor.

wasted spaces, more like a fancy bus than an RV. Good concept, work on the interior
@@redcandi01 , in a later video, he describes that the 2nd set of seats folds in some sort of convoluted way to make a platform for the 2nd bed. The entire interior is awkward as all getout. So disappointing!
There easily could be a dry bath.
This is gorgeous but idk why my mind is saying that something is either missing or misused.
Then i thought about the space. The vehicle is huge but a lot of space is misused. *Space* is not judiciously used.

Probably under the driver's seat is the engine bay. Under the back is the garage area.

I love a lot of things about this, especially the bathroom/shower area. I have no idea why anyone would want a retractable roof though.

I agree. From the outside I thought it was going to be 2 levels inside. Seems to be more of a concept vehicle to test the marketability of various features than something that would be practical in use. I still don't get where the other 2 passengers sleep.

RV roofs get leaky when they are solid, I can't imagine how fun this will be.
Badly manufactured roofs get leaky. It is a question of sealing them correctly. That is why manufacturers offer such long water ingress guarantees.
@@VanlifewithAlan either that or some Manufacturers keep Changing their NAMES every few years to avoid the lawsuits?(lol)...all kiding aside now....whats HIDING behind that BIG back Door you may have missed(forgot?) to open? Its making the bed way to High up btw? Or does the Roof "SLIDE" the other way forward too...so you can "LIE UNDER" the night sky...on a Warm Clear night?

I love the way it looks on the outside and the seating area looks amazingly comfy. I wonder if the roof closes to a panoramic sun roof? That would be amazing.
A couple things perplexed me.
What is the little cubby hole under the windshield for? Ya know, that cubby hole with it's own window?? For a dog or cat perhaps? If so, wouldn't that be a bit dangerous? Very likely.
Another thing is the four seats up front. The bed in the back looks to only fit two people, three might be doable, yet misery all around.
Four people? Ha, don't play.

The cubby hole is to get a better view, particularly useful in town. A bed can be placed over the seats in the cabin making it for four!

More of a motodrome, I have a difficulty in profiling the customer for this, the furniture is very utilitarian, all hard corners etc. I mean, I like it. I'm btwn a budget or a self build.

Seems like the bigger the van the worse the use of available space/ layout. So much wasted space inside.

How long is this rig? Love the layout, two large closets, a huge bed and pockets of storage. I do wonder how the windows around the bed could be curtained since privacy would be required at night with lights on inside.
I agree, outside design cool, inside leaves much to be desired...way too much wasted space to be worth the purchase.

I couldn't see an oven or microwave anywhere. They need to incorporate these as they are a must.
A small sofa would be good too.
The so called kitchen is terrible. Primitive really . The cheap tny sink, 2 burners with glass covers, hate those, no countertop and next to the bed. And they ask 120.000 Euro for it. Madness.
I ALWAYS wondered whether an RV could be built with a sliding roof so one could enjoy the benefits of a convertible. Now I know...they CAN. GREAT design.
WHY is it European RV's are ALWAYS "a cut above" those sold in the USA?
Drive it with the roof open and the buffeting would be unbearable.
@@my67falcon Might be right...BUT...and a wind deflector, behind the front two seats could cut down on that. I had one on my convertible... and it worked pretty well. Anyone sitting in the back would probably feel more of the affect. I would guess it would be much like riding in the back of a pickup or open bed cargo truck.
I agree..interior was an after thought..I like how the fridge. Door rubs the bed...I've seen better kitchen areas in a pop up..
Liked the interior layout. Would have put counter extension near the door, not the bed. And like another comment, would have preferred the skylight over the bed instead. Weird looking front, but I like the van.
Hey, Alan I found the perfect van for me it’s a Mercedes Jules the way it’s layout us is what I want and the size is perfect for me . I’m going investigate more I really like the revel winnibego 4x4 but before I drop 150k on a home on wheels I want it to have everything I need and I want to be happy in it . So thanks for you videos.

I like it, probably best for 2 people who go on vacation, but don't need a lot of room.
I love it reminds me of the Barbie beach bus I had in the 70s. But 4 chairs 1 bed? We would need another bed 😮😔

Beautiful, but seems that the living space is an afterthought and it's best when on the road, not parked. 🤷♀️
With the roof in closed position, I can hear Alan screaming from here in Australia...It looks as though it would be crouching only under there. But it looks a refreshing layout.

I like it. In addition to its very strong unique selling point it has a rather nice interior in my opinion. The only thing I don't like about it is the name "skydancer", but I could live with that.
The ticket for those who want to feel really unique.
absolutely stunning what a beautiful vehicle and what a great idea and concept more people should think of concepts like that I think the value of RVs will skyrocket even more than what they are today 💯👍

Well, uhmm, hmm, its different! I usually can decide within 5-10 mins of video if I like the RV or not, but this one, not sure! Only possible negative that I saw was the fridge right next to the bed. May be noisy at night when the thermostat kicks in to keep the temperature. Though, handy to grab a drink very quickly!
I have plenty more films on it, in at least two languages so you will have time to decide!

That's a good point about the fridge. And as big as this rig is, super disappointed with the kitchen itself and lack of counter space and what about pantry space? BTW what does "cabriolet" mean?

Wow ,now that is something to hit the open roads with these Covid months !! Wow ! But for the money by the looks so far in this vid very little storage space inside and not great use of all the floor design . Bike rack possibilities? Does the “ sun roof open with a screen to keep bugs out ? Very small eating table comfort couch like possibility . What type blinds automatic sleep area windows , sitting area windows ?

4 Chairs and Sleep Space for 2.....that means 6 people....8 hours sleep rotate 3 shifts, 2 driving and 2 sitting in chairs or working......but they all have to share the same bed, just two at a time........

Looks nice but wasted space at front. Could of still had the luxury and feel of space and added more. Looks really cramped at the back with kitchen but seems there’s more space at front to stretch legs than the back and that’s including the bed lol.
This needs a complete redesign of the space. Plus the convertible top feature is kind of useless, if you want bugs and crap coming into the interior, along with all the baking sunshine if you actually take it camping..

Seating for 4, yet sleeping for 2 ??? Small galley and ever smaller sink. Cool step ladder though and luv all the wine shown in refrigerator,, made me thirsty. XD

I saw a pet sleeper up in the front console and it has it's own window. LOL
I can't stop laughing and yet I can't look away from it's strange yet interesting concept/design. 8)

Never seen one of these before. Very unique. Not a fan of wet baths but it is a really nice motor home.
I'm not a fan of wet baths either. Skydancer folks could learn something about how to get around that by looking at the 2019 Adria Twin.

That’s A LOT of €/$ for this!its “neat” but it looks huge and spacious from the outside but once your inside...all I could think was...huh? 4 captain seats...where do 4 people sleep? Everyone in one bed? The floor? The chair? I’m disappointed. 😕

What is the point of that little window in the front? The space appears to just be for storage so why put a window? I definitely think they missed major opportunities to maximize the storage and amenities.

All these types of motor homes MUST be designed by men who obviously buy their food already cooked and eat off plastic plates.
It's a beautiful motorhome but the inside is totally all over the place, the clothes draws are under the stove , the fridge is close to the bed and the sky view should be over the bed, maybe there should have been a large skyview over the bed and a small one over the driver's cabin.
I love the space ship cabin design, but the rest is poor design planning. Lots of space wasted. Why?
I guess it would be great if you like hanging around area 51 looking for UFOs but not that good in the woods could see it getting full of bugs and leaves fast.

Seems like an odd height to be seated at for driving. Only the biggest truck cabs are that high. Would this require additional driving training, to hgv level? A smaller vehicle with less garage space and facilities would be easier to handle. At this level of luxury a good car and hotels are more convenient.
It depends what you are looking for Michelle. Everyone is different. Most people prefer a hotel. A minority of us prefer a motorhome.
@@VanlifewithAlan I prefer camping to hotels most of the time. Having to be in another city is the exception. Camping and caravans are more fun and feel more private than rooms that strangers are able to enter. I'm hoping to have a campervan one day to save time setting up and moving on. Sadly, I don't even have a car right now. Happily dreaming.

That mirror right next to the shower head will have to be cleaned every time someone showers. Having to lean over the toilet to use the sink is a backbreaker angle for someone with back problems. No one wants to go on vacation to do extra cleaning or cause further back pain. Far too much time spent looking at it and the ones around it and not enough of showing the features and lower area. Four seats, one bed. Where is another? You want a whole lot of money for it? Convince me why.
The bathroom design is used in other motorhomes and campervans so it is not particularly original. A second bed is available for the seating area.

Designed by people who never actually lived in camping car, the whole thing is a show... ! The driving position should not be legal, no visibility, and the interior design is one of the worst you can find !
