I know banjo is your main instrument, but I love this mandolin content, and you're offering things I'm not seeing with anyone else. I would love it if you could do a lot more!
Fantastic stuff Enda! Would love to hear your take on other fiddle tunes (Bill Cheatham, Billy in the low ground etc). Also, have you ever considered doing some tenor guitar stuff? Would be cool to see what you could do with all that sustain. Thanks!
Enda, I have really enjoyed tuning my low string on tenor banjo up to A. I used to play a 10 string mandolin tuned DADAE, and loved the A instead of G. How are you tuning your mandolins?
I tune the mandolin GDAE. The instrument seems to resonate better that way. I’ve tried both and ADAE made my mandolin sound kinda choked up. Which was interesting as ADAE makes the banjo sound amazing!
When you say that the triplets are three notes in the space of two, am I right in thinking that you are referring to two eighth notes (quavers), equal to a quarter note (crotchet)? Thanks in anticipation!
@@IrishTenorBanjo Thanks Enda. A bluegrasser for many years, I play 'Whiskey before Breakfast' on the guitar. I'm trying to get the hang of Irish-style triplets on the mandolin. They sound right about 30% of the time, so more practice is needed - but I'm getting there! Thanks again, I enjoyed your playing of this tune very much and will return for repeat listenings.
Not usually. I’m currently using a 0.50mm StringJoy Jumbo jazz in banjo, and often prefer a 1.0mm Dunlop Flow on mandolin. On this video I just preferred a .60mm pic.

Thank you. Yes that’s the plan!! Working on a big tutorial project at the moment and it’s taking up all my bandwidth!
Yes, please, more mandolin content!
It's one of my favourite tunes to play, only I don't play it quite as well as you. Thank you for making these videos
Thanks Enda!
Thank you 😊
Hello Enda, thank you very much indeed for all these great videos, very much appreciated 👍
My pleasure!
I love your mando lessons! Thank you!!! The problem is that now I need to work on my triplets... 😄- Greetings from Germany
You can do it!

I would love to see some Tenor guitar content from Enda! His Mando stuff is excellent!
Will have to find a tenor guitar then!
@@IrishTenorBanjo We're depending on you, Enda! 😁🤞

Is there sheet music available for this version? It's notably different from the really basic, straightforward American version I learned.
For sure! I’ve got 7 or 8 different versions transcribed on my Patreon. www.Patreon.com/EndaScahillBanjo

Yes!! 3 quavers in the space of one crotchet

Quelle est votre mandoline ? Merci

Thanks! - Do you use the same pick for mandolin and banjo?
I was going to ask the same question 😁 you probably have answered it in another video but I don’t know where.

@@IrishTenorBanjo Great, Thanks!
@@IrishTenorBanjo I was a 1mm user but now I can't stand the "tiny" sound under 1.4 or more mm.
@@Tergal14Mandolinthat’s heavy!!! I don’t think I own one that fat!
Deliberate mistake?
Whiskey in the jar🤔
Accidentally on purpose 🧐
