      Recently, there's a video circulating about a single mom who prevented her child from eating food brought by his dad. Her reason was that if the dad was buying food for him, he should have also bought food for her 3 other children, who were not his. Meanwhile, she had no money at the time to feed any of her kids. But she preferred to let one of them go hungry to prove a point. There's all sorts of men and women like this.

    First, thank you for shedding light on the reality of men being victims of domestic abuse and violence. My ex is 6’4 and had a former girlfriend hurl objects at him leaving dents in the bedroom wall prior to shoving him down the stairs. He didn’t fight back or lay a finger on her, though he could easily have overpowered her, since he knew that’s what she wanted to claim he was the aggressor when the cops showed up.
    Second, I don’t think there’s anything more disgusting than when a parent manipulates young children into believing the other parent is horrible, abusive, always to blame and doesn’t love them of want to see them when it’s complete garbage. This monster robbed her kids of a genuinely loving parent.

      Oh yeah it's horrible how domestic violence is "mostly one sided." It can happen to anyone.

      It's awful. I'm a pretty big feminist, and this is one issue I'm particularly passionate about. Abuse is abuse, and it's inexcusable that men are largely not believed cuz of this toxic idea that they're too big or strong to be abused by a woman.

    • @WobblesandBean
      @WobblesandBean 2 роки тому +7

      @@HeyIwasaValedictorian You can't say that for sure. I came from a similar upbringing, as have many lovely people I know. True, I'm an emotional and psychological wreck, but I'm not anything like this woman. I have BEEN abused many times, because I thought this kind of thing was normal for way too long, but I've never been on the giving end. Children aren't their parents. Sometimes victims of abuse do go on to become abusers themselves, but not always.

    • @sookieb_88
      @sookieb_88 2 роки тому +3

      @@WobblesandBean my mum actually had a similar experience in her childhood and adolescence, my grandmother (who passed before I was born and now, at age 34, I’m glad I didn’t meet her since she behaved that way habitually and my mother’s three siblings all exhibited the manifestations of the abuse in different ways as they grew into adulthood), but my mum in response to what SHE experienced, was incredibly loving and consciously knew she never wanted to impose the same damages on anyone, especially her children.
      Considering everything she endured, my mum managed to become incredibly well rounded as a person, and I think a major motivating factor in her success in her careers (she was a midwife and later a huge part of breast cancer fundraising, charities, support networks etc here in Australia) and as a parent, friend, and wife, was a direct response to the horrific upbringing she had. Her family were from the country on a farm (I think everyone has a concept of how isolated and helpless a child can be raised in the Australian bush and outback), and she was driven in a lot of ways to make as much of a success personally and later in her advocacy as a way of constantly pushing to show herself, family, and everyone that no, she was not the worthless punching bag and all the other horrible things drilled into her for her entire upbringing.
      She did speak to me about it quite a lot when I was growing up (unfortunately, circumstances meant she had to pass on as much as she could when I was very young), she passed 22 years ago this year after losing her fight with cancer sadly, but as an adult and now with children in my own life, I’m much more cognisant of the reality of what she and her siblings went through, the effects it has on a child, and that I want to be as loving and supportive as she was.
      Unfortunately cycles of abuse down generations of families do often occur… especially situations like women whose parents displayed severe domestic violence going into similar relationships in their adulthood and how normalised that abuse is, but I know many people my age and from my mum’s generation who grow up to never repeat the abuses they suffered or impose those behaviours on others.
      I know I’m a random stranger, but you should be proud of your strength and resilience even though those wounds never fully heal.

      My husband's ex used to pull the "pack your overnight bag, daddy's coming" bs when no visitation was scheduled. My poor step-daughter would sit on the front step with her little suitcase and excitedly wait for us and then cry her eyes out when we didn't show. All so her mother could make her believe her father didn't love her. It still breaks my heart to think about it to this day. Women like this deserve to be strung up by their toenails.

      What surprises me is how the woman's new husband was able to participate in a double murder. He was a policeman and instead of having her arrested for planning and conspiring a double murder, he went ahead with the woman's plan ... in fact I'm not surprised at all ... they are two psychopaths ... there is no other answer for what they did, if it were up to me, I would have given them the death penalty and put up a nice pyre.

      @@Lifeovermatters2483 Unfortunately, if a person has psychopathic tendencies, he has no points for being the voice of reason ... If they do not become criminals they look for positions of power like being a policeman, not because they have a moral, but because, precisely, they have power over other people. A psychopathic serial killer kills not only because he feels pleasure, but because he somehow feels like God, having the power to take someone's life. Unfortunately it is the raw nature of these people. They have no morals and know no feelings. I saw the video of a psychopath who killed his sister (according to him only to see the mother suffer), and in the interview he said he loved his sister, when they asked him to describe how he felt he could not do it. Yes I agree.. I too am not lost on the effects of parents who choose to abuse their children by using them as ‘ chess pieces’…. In their pathetic attempts to destroy each other.
      They do so with TOTAL disregard of the many lifelong issues their actions create for their children!….
      If you are getting divorced.. please let your children decide whether or not they want to continue their relationship with their parents?… and Don’t try shaming them for their decisions…
      Remember you the adults are getting a divorce.. not them… they still love and need BOTH parents!!.. and if they don’t want contact.. for any reason… you owe it to them to support that too!?!
      It’s not about you and your partner… it’s about a child loving their parents… so money.. fidelity… etc… none of that matters .. not to a child!!…. Love is all that matters to a child!♥️
      After all… they are not going through a divorce in the same way as a parent might.. infact they have chosen none of it.. so be the better person.. it’s hard at times… but long term it will pay dividend.. because as they grow up.. they will then able see , understand and evaluate the bigger picture!♥️

    Lemme tell you, when someone does 5:00, it is NOT "sweet" or romantic, no matter what Hollywood tells you. It is obsessive and a blazing red flag! If someone cannot let you have time to be with other people; if they have to impose themselves on you and monopolize your time even when you've agreed to see them at their allotted time, that says that they don't believe in your agency, and that is a problem.

    As a kid who was heavily abused throughout almost all of my childhood (diagnosed PTSD some years ago, permanent nerve damage from the assaults), that stays with you BUT is NOT an excuse to become abusive yourself to your partner, you need to break the cycle of abuse! Knowing she went through a childhood somewhat similar to mine, one filled with violence and misery, where mine was my mother who encouraged and enabled my brothers physical violence towards me, and was forced to bring him up as if I was his parent, she was extremely negligent, but I made the effort a long time ago to never be anything like my mother or brother.
    I went through PTSD specific therapy after being diagnosed, I learned healthy coping mechanisms, I worked through the anger issues I had and found ways to work through that, I learned to stop and think about what I was doing, because as a teen I got into a lot of legal trouble (minor dumb stuff) because I eventually cracked under all the pressure of being a child bringing up another child, who was regularly beaten, psychologically abused, constantly neglected, I reached a breaking point and started acting out, so much so that I ended up in prison for 6 weeks (I think prison here in Scotland is Jail in the USA?), where after I saw it as the gift it was, that at 17 I had my life ahead of me, so I worked for a couple of years, got in touch with young person charities and got their help because by 19 the violence was getting worse and worse where I was hospitalised several times from head injuries. I escaped that situation with the help of young person charities who found me semi-sheltered accommodation.
    Know what I did? I sure as hell didn’t continue that cycle of abuse, I spoke to the social workers honestly about my anger issues, that I struggled, what had happened to me, and that I wanted to be nothing like my family, that I needed help. So they found me help, and through time I got diagnosed with cPTSD and PTSD, learnt coping mechanisms, got medicated for my PTSD, got help with the permanent nerve damage (worsened over the years due to the extent so mostly bedridden now, which sucks, but I’m happy in life now!), and got further help with PTSD specific therapy.
    You break the cycle of abuse, you make sure it ends with you, you make sure you end up NOTHING like your parents, that you NEVER take it out on your partner. If you have issues like being clingy/codependent then you gotta be honest about that (because even I couldn’t deal with that), you gotta be upfront about your issues so you and your partner can work together as a team! You gotta communicate, you can’t just use your childhood as an excuse to then become an abuser, you have to end the cycle of abuse because you otherwise pass that onto your kids, and that stuff leaves permanent damage.

    At 13:55 when you talk about the mother lying to her child, making the child sit there waiting for their father to show up when she knows damn well there was no plan for him to show up that day; this is what happened to my dad. My fathers ex poisoned his son into hating him based off of these lies! If you are are woman please NEVER do this.

      It happens with unstable/abusive men too! Most abusers know how to manipulate the courts. The courts don't do what is best for the children most of the time! A parent's right outweighs what is in the best interest of the children.

    Holy Smokes, it’s hard to get my head around how evil, petty, vindictive and dangerous 1 person can be, to be able to cause just misery and havocs through revenge and jealousy. How she was able to sway a cop to her participate in murder through her lies really showed clearly the depths of her being’s unrelenting narcissism. I really felt sorry for Alan who she sucked into her dark abyss of hate and revenge that knew of no bounds. I’m completely astonished her lawyer didn’t play the “ mental health card “ at her double - murder trial and I was really high eyebrowed when she and her cop husband didn’t receive Capital Punishment when they surely deserved no less than that. My husband and I have known each other for over 20 years and have been married for for 18 years and it is truly beyond my comprehension that a human being could do something so beyond horrific to anyone, let alone the loving responsible father of your children. Alan was happy in his life and it ate at her like cancer, a contagious cancer she spread into to her cop husband who unfortunately was as sick as she was. They are both where they belong, far away from society even though they preyed upon their own. Heartbreaking for the families of Alan and his sweet wife, especially Alan’s children who now live forever live in shadows of what their own mother and step - father did while not giving a penny’s thought what it would do to them as they move towards their futures.

    My first comment: the intro put me at the scene looking and seeing the whole picture... I LOVE THE WAY YOU NARRATE! I know you are thinking, you say that all the time, yes but I do love it! I can see the trees ( 😔 ) smoldering, blackened and the charred white car everything... please do NOT ever change the way you take the time to take our brains and set them right there at the scenes. FANTASTIC ABSOLUTELY 💯 % FANTASTIC! Especially for sensitive people who can envision words into worlds. I hope when you're 100 years old, you're still narrating, literally Hollywood should hire you periodt to narrate ALL narrations, you make the mind see, not just the eyes. 🤗

Wondering what happened to the daughters after this and hoping they have the inner strength and support to overcome this horror, and that they are not manipulated by the savage lies they were told about their Dad by a monster.

    I’m a Birmingham, AL native and my Mother actually knew Alan from her days working for the Director of the Alabama Ballet. Alan was frequently in contact with them due to the Alabama Theatre association. I knew the (now deceased) former Executive Director of the Alabama Theatre who was good friends with Alan. Both he and my Mother only had wonderful things to say about Alan. He was a kind, hardworking, friendly, responsible man who tragically got mixed up with the wrong woman. I am overjoyed that Jessica and Jeff are in prison for life and I hope they are haunted every single day by what they did, but something tells me they’re such monsters that aren’t capable of redemption. So sad for those daughters who are now grown. I hope they are doing as well as possible under the circumstances. Great coverage of this case!
