In times of trial, I have pulled up this song on my playlist, put my phone on the pillow, and just let it play over and over, letting the lyrics wash over me. It has been a tremendous comfort. Thank you to Matt and Matt and the Gettys.
No words to describe the psalmist’s pain…many words to describe his faith. God is our Father and will continue to carry us through any storm to the still waters. ❤️
This song truly touch my soul every time I listen to it. It is my daily song and prayer. Many blessings for these beautiful people whose life's mission it is to love and praise God. Be blessed. Blessings from South Africa🎸🎹🎶
"Why are you cast down O my soul? And why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God." (Psalm 42: 5-6). These verses of the Psalmist - inspired by the Spirit - saw me through a huge trial in my life when I felt abandoned, wronged and wracked with anxiety. Praise God for the words to pour out our deepest laments to Him, and yet point us to His grace and salvation.
This song has been such a comfort for me, I LOVE the scripture reading before it, I passed it on to my sister who suffers greatly, I hope it will comfort her in her trials and tribulations! To God above be all glory honor and praise. He alone is our Hope and Salvation !
Psalm 42:1-11 KJV As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. [2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? [3] My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? [4] When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. [5] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. [6] O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. [7] Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. [8] Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. [9] I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? [10] As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? [11] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
This song pierced my soul when I heard it and has become part of my daily life and prayer. My stepping stones to cross many obstacles which I have to overcome. Keep spreading the gospel. You are so talented. May God bless you in abundance
The lyric in the third verse of this recording is different than the others I've heard. "Bend me, break me, take this life" is a good meditation on what "till my faith is turned to sight" might very well mean. What a beautiful hymn this is.
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

What a powerful song. Thank you!
Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God😭🙏🏻✨.
Much gratitude to both composer and singer; it is a beautiful song rendered from the heart, which has become my go-to song when feeling weary.
This was screened at a funeral service of a dear brother in Christ .. to God be the Glory .. victory in Christ !
