    Notice how the Oreos are smaller now thanks to shrinkflation?
    The "regular" size now is actually what the Thin Oreos used to be. And the "double stuf" now used to be the regular size.

    Two initial mistakes. 1: It's the National BISCUIT Company, you can see the name on the side of the factory in the photo. 2: The Sunshine BAKING Company created the Hydrox Cookie, and then NABISCO simply copied it to make the OREO cookie. Most folks have neve even heard of Hydrox, Sunshine's loss. After that you were pretty correct.

      @@cyndim8785 No it's not. National Baking Company originated in Jamaica in the 1930s and has nothing to do with the 114 small-time American bakeries that combined into the National Biscuit Company which then turned into Nabisco and is the one responsible for Oreo. The narrator and/or script writer simply made a mistake that no one fact checked before they churned out the video.

      Yeah, it probably uses Oreo for the familiarity of the brand, it probably gives extra click and brand recognition. In reality the process showing is more a general way how the Oreo style chocolate fill cookies are made than specific about Oreo. Then again the process is probably 99% the same for actual Oreos so not really blaming them for simply using Oreo to get more interest as is mostly the same thing Oreo would actually be doing.

    I grew up on Hydrox cookies (I'm 72), and I've never liked Oreo's -- too sweet and not crunchy enough. Hydrox was the original chocolate sandwich cookie, originally produced by Sunshine. Nabisco shamelessly copied Hydrox to create Oreos.
    Hydrox cookies ARE available online today from at least Amazon and Walmart (they are NOT available in Walmart retail outlets). There are multiple credible reports of deceptive and illegal marketing tactics of the parent company of Oreo, as well as legal actions against that company.
    If you haven't tried Hydrox, I encourage you to do so.

      @Bleedinggum 7 місяців тому

      How so?

    • @magic2506
      @magic2506 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Bleedinggum Not a fan of processed oils to this degree.....Traditional processing methods for making canola oil include cleaning, heating, flaking, soaking, pressing, solvent extraction, and further refinement and processing.14 This makes canola oil a highly processed oil. This process requires bleaching, refining, and deodorizing, yielding a colorless, odorless, and neutral flavor.
      One concern about this is that a solvent called hexane (made from crude oil) is used to further extract the oil. This is a process that has taken place since the 1930s. When the seeds are pressed, they form a cake and become saturated with a solvent called hexane. This solvent assists with extracting the remaining oil. Next, the hexane is then removed from the oil and solids, reused, and recycled.14
      Also, a bit high on the levels of Omega 6, not good.
