I dig what Taylor is doing, but wish he would get some help and get through builds a little better. This is like 32 episodes and 8 months. Which is an amazing time one for a hobbyist, but being a professional it’d be nice to see him knock these types of projects out in a couple months. Of course I’m sure he would like to see them come together quickly more than any of us 😂
@@pdxmix look at all the other projects Taylor has been on since getting this home and shop. and he's still trying to get this together plus keep the competition Miata solid, too.
First drive is a fantastic feeling. I love that this is as real as it gets... Vibrations galore, the dash is falling out, the windshield is dirty, so on and so forth. It's exactly as a first drive should be, and one you won't forget. Congrats!
There is a reason all my favorite builders live in FL. No state inspection and drive literally whatever you want on the street and no one bats an eyelid :-)
@Jimmy Jones & the Kool-Aide Crew its all for revenue. Although if you live in a state without even basic inspections you see some nutty stuff on the road!
I have loved this series. I "like" before I even really start watching. Seeing your joy in fab'ing and succeeding is so excellent. Keep it up Taylor. Of all the car channels and their big personalities, yours is one of the only genuine "it is what it is" channels with a plain old good dude who really loves the art of the build. Love to see it.
That drive is an entire mood. Cluster keeps falling over, can’t see shit, you don’t even remember if suspension is tightened, wideband is nonexistent. And I loved every second of it
I remember when Taylor said “I wanna build it and have it ready for drift week”. Haha here we are like 7 months later with this sweet street drift car!!
Crazy 3 months ago making the expansion tank "Some of my best welds that I have done to date." Now talking about the expansion tank "Not my best work I will say" Mans welding progress is faster than the car itself
Absolutely. Welding is such a practice art, literally the only way to get better is to lay more beads. The more you lay, the more you hate your earlier work, it never fails. Ran into a car I built a decade earlier and having a little crawl underneath I tried not to cringe too hard, but the owner still loves it and swears "it's some of the best welding he's seen". LOL.
Now that's a first drive. All the vibrations, the dirty windscreen, the falling dash. That's a guy that wants to experience the fruits of his labour. Congrats Taylor!
THE PROUDEST MOMENT IN A MOTORISTS WORLD IS RIGHT HERE. DRIVING YOUR PRIDE AND JOY AFTER ENDLESS HOURS OF WORK DOWN THE ROAD. NO MATTER HOW JANKY IT IS. YOU CANT DENY ITS THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD
Came into the fleet as a trade. Became lawn art for almost 2 years. Now she has has a new more reliable heart ❤️ . I've always loved this car just been waiting to see what will come of the old girl. Next is the little green ripper sitting in the background 😏
The pure excitement of him going down the road was worth the wait and watching this whole project come together was just amazing. I’m excited for the rest of the videos to come!
I love how meticulous you are in every aspect of building this car, and then at the same time you were so shocked that it's driving so well haha. I think everyone here knew it was going to run perfectly.
The first real test drive had me rolling. Between you listing off all the minor issues, the dash repeatedly falling, and you yelling you can’t see. Classic
This is one of the many reasons I love watching Taylor, you really see his true pure excitement when he finishes a big project and/or drives a car for the first time since being built. Love it!
I love seeing the whole build process of the car, I looked forward to the next segment. Going from no engine, trans, etc.. to a cool looking drivable car.. totally epic stuff! Especially seeing going from your old shop set up to what you have now is amazing! Much love and props Taylor!!
Man I can honestly say your videos got me through some really tough times I don’t care what anyone else says about you I love your work and your drift videos straight up! Keep on doing your thing and congrats on your first drive freaking awesome man!!!
@6:08, I actually yelled. you are driving it. . and a louder , "hell yeah" , yell at 6:18 I'm super pumped for you, Taylor. this is a GREAT car. one of my faves along with the 4 door chasers . .love em
i wanted to say thank you. watching your progress over the years drove me to start fabricating my own stuff. i have been practising my aluminum every chance i get in preperation to make all new intercooler piping for my rb25 swapped datsun 280zx
I started following the channel about half way through this build and by a mile, this build series has been the most exciting and inspiring thing iv ever seen on youtube. Congrats man, I know you are so stoked about finally driving the cefiro! I'm so happy for you!
So hyped to see this baby running! I really enjoyed the fab projects. A trick I like to do for filling difs and transmissions is to cut some 5/16 clear tubing about 2 ft long and drill a hole slightly smaller in the cap of the bottle container and run the tube to just below the bottom. Run the other end to the fill hole or the trans/diff. Drill another 1/4 hole above the fluid level in the side of the bottle and stick the air gun from your compressor (set to its lowest psi) and slowly add air to the bottle. Much easier than those stupid pumps.
Wow 👏 you dun did it my guy. What a satisfying moment to see it finally drive after such an intensive build/fab project. I know the feelings of nervousness and excitement and fear and joy when you finally get to drive what you have put so much effort in, and i can see it in your face the sense of satisfaction and pride when you were on your first drive. This is one I can't wait to see dialed in and running 110%!!! Great job. 🏁
Love seeing it on the road! If you keep having issues bleeding that cooling system (it does have some odd angles, etc), don't be afraid to weld in some bungs for high mounted petcocks at a couple points. Makes bleeding way easy.
Seriously, I LOVE THAT CAR Taylor! It doesn't really sound alot different with or without the muffler. Sure, at HIGH REVS there likely would be a HUGE difference but what we heard was pretty much the same.
For the exhaust rattle. If you drill your mount to chassis holds out larger to fit a rubber wire grommet and then use a washer on the bolt head it should bring the rattle down alot.
i dont recall how you did the tstat housing but a common issue with the swivel tstat housing is the bypass hose is before the tstat so hot water never hits the tstat to open it. you have to run the factory plastic housing and the swivel one so that the bypass hose goes on the plastic housing behind the tstat. sorry if thats confusing lol.
Also, I have a fully built LSVTEC turbo and my B16B head has Skunk2 Stage 3 cams, dual valve springs with titanium retainers, and Skunk2 LMAs and it's really noisy at start up, but smoothes out as it warms up. The block has CP 9.0:1 pistons and Eagle rods, but I don't have any piston slap, just valvetrain noise.
Been hanging to see this thing move with the K. Such a sick build! I drive a cefiro in Australia with the 20det in it so I loved seeing you work on her and keen as for more as you button her up and iron out the creases. Cheers!
If the VTC doesn't sync you've got the cam sensors back to front and put a 180+ degree timing offset to get the ignition timing to fire at the right time, haltech factory map should have worked. Best K series swap series swap I've seen, thanks for sharing :)
Its amazing to see how far you've come man. I started watching your channel right before you got the vette. It made me happy to see you finally drive this car.
Awww nutz,, dirty windshield, really bad time of day, but all in all the 'test drive' went quite well. You knew there would be some things needing attention and now you have a list that you could not have had without the 'test drive'. Mission complete, TST DRIVE #1 in in the books. Looking forward to the next test run, well done Taylor, well done indeed!
on your half circle exhuast mount you can add a half rubber coupler as well because a fun fact is that they can withstand 600 degrees! give it a try :)
I KNOW you have a belt sander..... cant wait till this mock up is done and you clean up all your turbo/intercooler piping. This thing is gonna be sweet
@ 12:52 looks like the hood latch support is supposed to be bolted to the hole one the right side of it (left side of actual car) on the bottom that looks to be why its not center maybe ?
Hey taylor, I've got a TGR Fluid transfer pump that has nice long lines and is powered just by your drill or 3/8" impact. waaaaay nicer to fill diff/trans. might be worth looking into. SUPER excited to see this build coming together!!
This build has been more satisfying than one of those timelapse rusty tool repair videos. If you know, you know.
As satisfying as peeling the plastic off a new screen.
Straight facts

Wrong. It’s cool watching a cool tool rebuild. It’s not cool watching a pos rebuild

It will be ready for drift week 2(x2)!

Try and go back and watch the beginning of the miata. The build/progression of it is incredible.

the hard mounted exhaust is making it seem noisy in the cabin. you should use a rubber mount.

Get a pressure check valve for the gas line. So it keeps pressure in the system so it just starts back up without having to give it gas.
Taylor check out a vacuum filler. When I was a tech it worked really well for filling cars with odd cooling systems. No bleeding. Its awesome.

I can't wait for the turbo LS build. Seriously so stoked.
Vacuum filling systems is awesome, diy kits are pretty cheap and it's great
Been looking forward to this since the start of the build.
That steering wheel is cool just flips up...bet that feels so good even tho nothings working just yet
Bro I love this for you....definitely my favorite build so far can wait to see it slide
Perhaps you should add a bleeder to somewhere in the system to allow air to exit when you bleed it
For easier fluid filling, I recommend getting a 1000cc extractor. works both ways.
