Maybe he can feed the specs to Brent & Brent can remote in a rough tune for him so that it won't be as painful at the dyno. (Would be even cooler if he drove to CO & had Brent put it on his dyno)
@@Forcefed2002 Brent is so into cars like this I'm willing to be he does something with Taylor. They are two of the most positive people I have ever seen.

Getting in early on the video but I’m amazed with how you collect the small bits that hold up builds. Gaskets, clamps, lines, fittings etc. You seriously need to open up a shop with that kind of foresight and planing. Edit* Taylor after that explosion like “which one of you guys shit my pants”
Happy for you mate! Woo hoo! I’m a software engineer and also a Honda enthusiast (recently did an engine swap) and the feeling of getting something to run after spending hours of troubleshooting (code not running or engine not starting) is the best feeling ever. Good work mate!
I’m by no means a Honda man but I’ll watch this guy build anything. Hearing T Ray yell on start up was so cool! Great build, patiently waiting for that turbo truck project 🤫
Commenting before and after for dramatic effect. Before: I am so ready to see this thing come to life! After: *Proud smile* He did it. He really did it. Congrats dude! Cant wait to see the rest of it and its maiden voyage!
I clapped. People looked at me funny. They don't understand how long I've been waiting for this moment. 😂 Love the vids and builds. Cant wait to see some street pulls and see it sliding.
Yaaaa buddy!! Stoked for you Taylor, what a satisfying moment. You're reaction pretty much sums up the whole video. Phenomenal, cant wait to see it driving!!!
Absolute legend. I was so stoked when this build was announced. 5 speed accord w K24 was my first manual car, loved her to death and she ran and ran for me. Love the look and been following this since the start, so flippin cool seeing it fire up sounds mean and looks clean also.
Hell yes! I hear a notification on my phone...see it's a UA-cam video...see its T-Ray...see it says first start...what else can you ask for as your sitting down for dinner and not sure what you wanna watch? Hell yeah!!! Let's go!
Love this build T Ray! Great content. It's great you show your struggles. So many people need to know and see everyone struggles once in a while. Thanks for sharing!
I dont even like imports. Never saw drifting before. But I've followed you every step of the way since you first bought the 7.3. Even went back and watched earlier videos. Dude you're awesome. So humble don't ask for anything keep it up!
That amount of money you have in fittings sitting on the bench at the beginning of the video might be the biggest low-key flex I've ever seen on your channel.
Brother Taylor a big weight has been lifted from your shoulders. That is the most excited I've seen you act in quite some time. Just like a kid getting a piece of candy. The last 10% of the job takes 90% of the time. I've heard it said time and time again and it's very true. Keep plugging along and you will be enjoying the fruits of your labor. Congrats brother
You saying "please don't be a big bang" to yourself had me weak. I had the timing 180 out on my old throttle body injected van and almost set myself on fire haha. Stoked to see it running!!
Awesome job!! Most won't acknowledge it, because they don't know the struggle. How happy you were when it actually started for the first time is something that people can't really understand. That isn't a nissan cefiro anymore, that's a nissan Taylor Ray.
its literally the best feeling. i had a situation when i finished my build and took a couple days, thought mechanial timing, vacuum leak, injectors all sorts of things. turned out i missed a vacuum port haha and was dumping way to much fuel. fuel adjustment and cacuum leak and it fired up, was so stoked, your reaction reminded me of mine haha. the greatest feeling in the world.
My k20 sounded exactly like that on first attempt at starting, turned out the cam position sensors are specific to inlet and exhaust side, they'd previously been swapped the wrong way. I swapped them again and it started right away! No changes to the timing, I even pulled the engine out to double check the timing marks, couldn't believe just a sensor could cause such headache!! The cam sensors look identical too!
Extra fittings in your line of work is awesome for future builds. You almost need to carry a massive surplus or start running common fittings as much as possible on all your fleet
I almost feel as anxious as you to see you drive that awesome build, I've been watching this build from the absolute beginning and plan to continue to follow for the long haul. Love your channel Taylor, keep up the hard work. 👍👍
If you want to, the base map from the Haltech website is very good to use so you can drive around and get it to the tuners. Well done, so happy you chose Haltech as well
its aliiive!! k20 and 24 have similar timing if they are in factory spec.. i did a 20 to 24 swap and used ALL 20 sensors and ecu it was a direct swap and fired up in two turns like a stock car would, i think that tune from the other motor was put together out of timing spec and the tuner played with the crank and cam timing to make it work. its like you said,.. some people want to just rush and get the car together so they will cut many corners like proper timing being one of them.. more so if it is a shady service speed shop or something of the sort ( i could very easily be wrong but an idea to bounce off your head) keep up all the hard work love the content
Hey if u mount the filter housing up side down like Subaru and audi do. Its pretty clean to do a oil change. Just crack the filter lose and it will drain down to the pan and there is almost no mess.
Dude, you don't even know what struggling with an engine is. I have been trying to get my freshly built engine running for like 3 weeks already, at least. I have dealt with a fried map sensor (from accidentally mixing connectors up) that took me a couple days to track down, then got it running poorly (like a random misfire and low idle), went back to troubleshooting and found the fuel pressure gauge had 0psi. Now I am finishing up building an entirely new fuel system after a week of work. And I still have no idea if the engine will run right once I get the car put back together (this is the 3rd time I have had to take the car back apart after putting the engine in).
Can I suggest you make a work table/tray that sits over and protects the intercooler? That way you have some where to put tools and bolts without banging up the fins.
I always check with a timing gun before trying to start, basemaps are almost always wrong in one area or another. Can bend rods and do all sorts of damage by doing that for hours.
I praise you and anyone else that can completely write a car. I need to rewire my truck which isn’t that hard being a 1977 Chevy k20 (old truck) but I’m completely colorblind so wish me luck and I hope I can come to your channel for help with all the wiring Youve done
Painless wiring kits have the connections written on the insulation so you don’t have to rely on colour. I am sure they do a K20 kit. My son is colour blind, it makes wiring a pain for sure.

Wonder if it was hydro locking with all that fuel being pumped in without firing? Maybe that's why it kept acting like it would lock up and then clear it out on another rotation. Which also could've been caused by incorrect timing. Good job Taylor. Love how simple the videos are, how prepared you try to be and the attention to detail. Can't wait to see you rip this girl soon!!!
