Just got my Aerophone GO today, fired up the iPad, downloaded the app and watched all of the tutorials so far. Excellent stuff! Total beginner so I'll be learning from a book, or books. I think I'll begin just with the alto sax that's on board for starters, then when I'm more comfortable playing I'll go to the app for better sound. Someday maybe venture into VSTs. I'm an old guy so your careful instruction is very helpful and encouraging. Many thanks.
Hi Alistair, love your work in these videos. I've almost setup my aerophone go, but the last hurdle I'm facing is with articulation. If I try and tongue consecutive notes (even just quavers at 150bpm can be a struggle) the second note doesn't respond properly (if at all). Is there a setting to make the reed more sensitive?
Ok. A couple of suggestions. You could reduce the breath setting to a lower value to see if that helps. Remember though the Aerophone read doesn’t really control the tonguing in the same way as an acoustic reed would. It’s about controlling air on the Aerophone so you might experiment with a slightly different approach. Tonguing more from with the tongue higher to the roof of your mouth perhaps. Also you might just find that some sounds react quicker than others.
Thanks for your helpful videos, Alistair. Can you do a more detailed one on putting in alternate fingerings, please. When I play the sax in the key of A or E, I frequently keep my LH pinkie on the G# key. On the Aerophone Go, if I do this it doesn't work ( eg if I try to play B, I get G# ). Since I use the Aerophone to practise sax quietly, this is a disappointing problem. I have tried to enter alternate fingerings using the app but haven't worked out how to do it. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
After years of playing about with flutes and saxophones (without too much success), I bought an Aerophone Go, inspired by your excellent tutorials. It's been great fun exploring the possibilities the instrument offers. I've found an ideal set-up using an old mobile phone and a portable Bose docking station. However, one thing is annoying me. I find it impossible to hold a long sustained note without an automatic vibrato cutting in after a couple of seconds. This seems to happen irrespective of whether the bite control is off or on, and is more noticeable on some effects than on others - probably worst on flute. Try as I might I can't seem to find a way to turn it off. Am I missing something or is it meant be like this?
I’m afraid that’s built into the sound and on the Aerophone GO it can’t be altered. There would be other apps you could use for sounds that would give you more choice over this sort of thing.
I ordered one of these and looking forward to it over my EWI USB. What stand do you use for your iPad? I would like to get one. Thanks for the videos I found them very informative and they helped me to decide to purchase one.
There is one thing that should be added: sax players often use the ring finger of the right hand to play an F# (i.e. D major triad). I tried to find a way to send an email to roland - but now way... Maybe you have contact to them, since you make product placement for them. It would be nice if you forward this issue to them - thank you!
Hi there and thanks for watching. I'm not sure I agree with you really. I believe the fingering you suggest is more of a flute fingering and I spend some time correcting any pupils that use that fingering on a saxophone mainly because the intonation is not good. I thing you could probably programme that yourself as a user fingering if you really want to though.
I use this fingering when playing very fast passages of triads - like in up swing · it really makes things easier and the intonation tolerance is not really an issue in that tempo I think. No idea how to programme this. Anyway, thank you for your reply!
Hi. I have the AEROPHONE GO and I would like to buy the AEROPHONE AE10. Are the sounds the same, or are the sounds of the AEROPHONE AE10 better? Thank you so much!!!
Yes the sounds on the AE-10 are better and there are many more to choose from. They feature Super Natural sounds which are multi layered sounds and the AE-10 can produce up to eight notes at the same time.
Maybe try a factory reset when connected to the app just in case. Try pressing the key at a different part or different angle on the key to see if that works. Are you sure you’re not accidentally pressing any other key? Just suggestions. Maybe there’s a fault on your AE.
Help! I just bought a new Aerophone GO but the E flat key plays C sharp. I have tried several times to edit it to play E flat on the Fingerings page of the App, on edit 1 and edit 2 of the sax fingering, but it won't change. What can I do?
Hi Sir, When I use a little ( Shaking lips ) on AE05 Mouthpiece to vibrate sound, sometimes the pitch go down and not back even when I keep blowing with no ( Shaking lips ) , may I ask why ? am I doing the wrong way to vibrate sound ? Thank you very much
+samian lu Very difficult to tell without seeing you play but it sounds like you might not be returning your lips to the correct pressure. Vibrato for me is using the bottom lip to reduce the pressure on the read then bring it back to normal. Not really about shaking. Perhaps try to very slowly lower the bottom lip and return it back up to normal. See if that works.
Hi. I don't have experience of this I'm afraid. You should find that most of the fingerings are the same or similar I think. Only the very high notes will be different and you don't need to hold your pinky down for almost all the notes like you do on a flute.
@@isax.academy thank you very much for your support. Although I could set on the App the fingering, it was not saving unfortunately. As I am a begginer in both GO and transversal, I do not know if I should practice using sax or recorder GO fingering.
@@isax.academy Thank you very much. I'm a serious composer of 34 piano concertos, 14 symphonies, and much more. if it isn't beautiful, I don't compose it. I could send a complete list to your email if you would like. Joseph

So glad to hear you’re enjoying it.
Keep up the steady practice.
All the best.
Nice to see you again master of the saxo.
It would be nice to see you demonstrate the trumpet fingerings. Does it remove the setting after you disconnect Bluetooth?
Sorry. I don’t play trumpet. There is a video on UA-cam of Matt Traum demonstrating this. The setting remain even after power off.

Yes, I think I understand what you mean. This has been mentioned to Roland and a fix is in the pipeline.
iSax - Alistair Parnell Thanks Alistair, that's great news

I use Moog model D, Thor and the Korg M1.

I use some different stands for the iPad. The beat one is by Joy factory. It has a case that connects to various mounts.

Can I use this app with my ae10 also?
Unfortunately no

Hello! Is it possible to connect this controller to an external sound unit via a MIDI cable?
thank you, I look forward to your videos.

Can you also at the same time blue tooth out from you I pad to a blue tooth speaker? Total WIRELESS.
No, I don't think so. As I understand it most devices will only connect to one audio device at a time.
Do you know if its possible to disable the 3 knobs on the back of the instrument for midi cc use?
I don’t think so.
Hi everyone. For Native Instruments software specifically, is it best to turn C11 off?
I usually turn it off just in case of any conflicts.
@@isax.academy Thanks! Please pardon my ignorance but C11 is 'expression' in Native Instruments, which is important, right?

What. Is the tiny button at the very top down from the mouthpiece?
That’s just a screw hole I think.

How can i make sounds play without blowing
I’m not sure that’s possible on the Aerophone GO. You’d need the 10/20/30 for that.
