I remember seeing Of Mice And Men in March 2019 in freezing Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was around -30 that night. The concert also has Palisades, Badflower, And Nothing More. What a amazing concert that was and I wish I could go back to that day
I love OM&M and they've really grown apart and improved their song writing, arrangements are really well placed and the chorus of their songs are just as catchy! I've always been inspired to hear a lot of musicians especially the bands that I listen to talk about the music industry their drive and passion for doing music!
Going from Transylvania to see them all the way in Amsterdam! Got a whole 3-day trip full of biking, pastry, and metal planned around that OM&M concert \m/

Love you Aaron! We grew up together and he is so genuine and wonderful!
“Back in 2017” makes me feel so old because i first saw them in 2010 LOL I saw them on Alesana’s The Emptiness tour AND at warped tour that year. At thy warped tour they had jerry roush on vocals which a lot of people don’t remember or possibly even know of.
Finn, my friend! I think either of the following would be great candidates for upcoming podcasts: Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) who has had a successful music career but has also now pivoted into content creation on youtube. Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) on transitioning from grindcore to a reasonably popular metal band and their impact on veganism - that and I think just based on his vibe would be a good fit to talk shit with for an hour. Appreciate you and all you do!
I tried listening to Sleep Token, didnt like them. I once speculated that they are fey indie pop musicinas doing metal, or older metal musicans doing pop metal. If the rumours are true, then its both. Oddly enough the first two Sleep Token records were recorded not far from where I live. A small metal/prog festival near me had them on the lineup.
Idk what this guy is even talking about. To me the first two albums have solid structure and so much FEEL. The songs flow into eachother. If someone asked me what is metalcore I'd show them Ben Threw or something. That's top shelf. I'm only 5 minutes in but it honestly sounds like hes trying to sey they didn't sell out while at the same time we were fully motivated by other more successful bands and the mindset of how can we make more money. I don't resonate with anything after the first two albums and this just makes it clear why.
He said the songs didn't have structure, which is true. I don't even understand your complaint with that because that was actually the appeal of the songs on their first album. Also, this is clearly opinion based, but Echo is their best music since the self titled album.
I agree with you on this. I'm not too sure about the debut self-titled because I only know a couple songs from that one, but The Flood is a banger well-structured album with clear choruses, great bridges, fully-fledged well thought out songs. Purified is still one of the best metalcore songs to ever be written in my honest opinion and disregarding that as "different parts thrown together" is mind-boggling to me and I think anyone who was around for that album.
My favorite album til this day is their self-titled. I’ve listened to that album front to back so many times. Most songs feel like they flow right into the next. 100% agree here
Im confused seeing as the last 2 or 3 albums have kess sales on itines and less views on all platforms, in fact most of the new songs havent hit 100k views 😳
well, remember that itunes is a dying medium so don't take that into consideration. Just look at how the streaming plays increased from e&s to echo on spotify. That's progress! We'll see how fast Tether racks them up and compare 6 months to a year from now. Should still be good considering they're touring again so increased exposure
I love how you still don't get Sleep Token. Maybe I can do some explaining?! So Vessel has a very unique way of telling a story. He uses beautiful metaphors, analogies and so on to do so. The stories that he tells are filled with pain and seem very personal. We (the fans) assume that he attempted suicide at some point and he writes about that. Vessel also has very visible self-harm scars. It seems like he faced a great amount of pain at some point. His music, especially the lyrics, speaks to me because I dealt with the same issues. Maybe you have never really read one of their songs? You don't have to. You can't argue about taste anyway and I understand that this music is not for everybody.
So much respect for this band for continuing on. Nothing they’ve done has grabbed me like the first two records just because Austin and Shayley were such an amazing combo however I’ll still check out everything they drop 🤘🏼 Also they should bring back Ohioisonfire live one day just to blow people’s minds 😅
@@jjcul I think you're directly referencing the new song ft. Hardy with that comment to which I'd say: it's not my favorite lyrically (the sentiment is great, but the lyrics themselves could and can be better, especially from Beartooth/Caleb) however, the modern pop-rock country vibes is what they were going for with it, and they delivered that well while still keeping their heavy signature Beartooth riffage. A long-winded way to say: it's supposed to be butt-rock! And they did a pretty good job with it!
It's used in reference to the radio stations that say they play "nothing but rock" but only play stuff from the 90's and late 80's and Nickelback Shinedown. They don't stay up to date with modern rock or metal. Radio friendly edits or not.
Defending the selling out to buttrock is disgusting, and looking at that producers discography, he makes nothing but garbage. Insane how they think hes above Sturgis
Of Mice should change their name to Matte Black and tour with Flat Black. The aggressive Cookie Monster vocal into the clean Daughtry chorus is worn out. 🥱
i think earth and sky was their peak, for me personally i don't like anything they've released since i don't think the new stuff is bad but i think its just mid as hell and just forget-able
@@WezBlu I’ve listened to check out what they’ve released and it’s not bad by any means, I’d just rather listen to other monsters like Periphery and Polaris. It’s a personal preference, the vocals in of mice and men just don’t tickle my fancy anymore.

I agree Tino, Defy really is criminally underappreciated. It's just an all around great record
Sunflower off that album is one of their best songs imo

Great chat! I have a lot of respect for these guys.
This dude was in my friends band Jamies Elsewhere. He recorded a dope ep for my old band too.
Just found Jamies Elsewhere within the last month. Great stuff!
My friend's band? That's fucking cool
I won't lie, I was more into the "Myspace Era" of the band but let's be real, I'm ALWAYS all about the Myspace Era so 😅🤘🏻
@@life_so_hard_i_so_emo I actually did a video about their story , they were making music in 2009, and MySpace died around 2012.
Restoring Force and Defy were some damn good albums.
I wasn't as chronically online back then, bu it's shocking to me that Restoring Force got hate? I loved it when it came out.

Goddammit, I love you, Aaron.
Is he wearing a Cane Hill shirt? Fuck yeah🤘
I hope so. Such an underrated band
I absolutely love Defy. It’s one of my favorites from them tbh.
Restoring Force was the reason I became a fan of the band
Saw them first time at Blue Ridge Rockfest, they were Amazing
That festival was a utter shit show. I legit hope the production team gets sued into the ground. They are lucky no one died.

Echo was an amazing fucking album
Echo and Earth & Sky really took me by surprise. Definitely took me back to the early days a bit.
Just listened to the first half of their New Album the other day. I liked it. Not as much as Restoring Force. Which was more what i expected.
Yo Resorting Force is a sick record! I dont really think it’s particularly butt rockey though
Especially when the album has Bones Exposed

The idea of “selling out” is stupid. If you as a band have a chance to tour with slipknot and make billboard charts… you take it. Period. The end.
